Serena’s PoV

The dawn was breaking and the first light of the day fell on the camp in a bright golden colour. The air finally felt like there was no longer a huge weight on top of us, a burden that had been there for years. The witches had been defeated and plague had been eradicated, as if the world had reached a sigh of relief. However, it does not end with this triumph, but instead, the process of recovering begins here.

I was near the edge of the camp when I saw members of different packs helping each other gather branches, stones and other materials to form a brand new shelter for the rogue pack as a form of thanks. They sang in melody as they did. My fingers touched my belly, as if to reassure me of the developing life within me.

When I considered the fact that I would soon have a child, I felt an odd combination of something. These are the emotions, which I associate with fear, uncertainty, and an unshakable desire to shield those I love. The truth

Serena’s PoVIt was still early morning and the weather was chilly as I came out; my hands went towards my enlarged belly. It had become a much quieter camp in the following weeks after the annihilation of Gloria’s magic as well as the removal of the plague. For the first time in a long time, wolves from Ardan’s pack, the rogues, and the refugees joined each other in constructing homes and clearing wreckage. However, I could not feel at ease; it was as if a storm was brewing in the background.“Serena,” Rachel’s voice called for me from behind. I turned to see her walking towards me with a basket of herbs in her hands. Her cheeks were red, and I could not even let myself not notice how she was looking at Zone, who was busy with strengthening the outer line of defence.“Rachel,” I said with a smile, pointing at Zone. “You should go talk to him.”She blushed, negating the statement with subtle head movements. “I am overwhelmed by the work load at the moment.”“Rachel,” I said in a stern

SERENA’S POVMoans, a pleasure driven cry echoing in a secret room. I was with him, Derek, my mate. But these sounds weren’t coming from me.He groaned from satisfaction, but I wasn’t touching him either. No, his pleasure came from Cora, his prostitute wolf. And I was forced to watch them.I was bound to a chair in the corner, watching them mate. Every thrust, every pleasured gasp from Derek, ached me. It was a violation, a reminder of my inability to do nothing, except watch.I watched as Cora sucked him out, deep throating him until she turned red. I watched how roughly Derek handled her. Pulling and grabbing her hair like she was a still object.I was unable to bear the pain of watching my mate mate with Cora, so I squeezed my eyes shut. Suddenly, the sounds ceased, replaced by a satisfied grunt from Derek. My heart raced as I scented Derek slowly approach me. He forcefully took me by the jaw and demanded that I opened my eyes.“Look at me, Omega," he sneered.I forced my eyes open

ARDAN’S POVTraining days with my Beta Thorne, usually excited me. My moves were laser sharp and I’d always won every practice round. But today, my movements were sloppy, sluggish and my focus was scattered. And because of that, it gave way for Thorne to land a blow on my arm, a feat that wouldn't have been possible on any other day.Thorne froze, his eyes widening in surprise. "My King, I—"I held up a hand, silencing him before he could launch into apologies. I was ashamed. "Leave me," I said.Thorne hesitated for a moment, his brow furrowed in concern. "Are you certain, Your Majesty? Perhaps you should—""Alone," I repeated, my voice firmer this time. With a silent bow, Thorne turned to leave, leaving me alone on the training grounds.I headed for the bathroom. When I got there, I stripped off my sweat-drenched training clothes. My reflection in the mirror showed a man sculpted for power - broad shoulders, a chiseled jaw, dark hair. Yet, beneath the facade of strength, anxiety had

SERENA’S POVA throbbing ache in my neck yanked me awake. I blinked open my eyes, the unfamiliar room coming into focus. Where was was I? I looked around the room before looking down at my body.I began to panic as I realized I was lying naked in a bed – a bed that wasn't mine. What the fuck….Glancing beside me, I found a muscular werewolf still asleep. Taking a deeper look I realized it was Joshua, a young member from Derek's pack who I had seen a few times before. My blood ran cold. If anyone came in I would a walking corpse. But I don’t remember how I ended up here. Had Derek… No, that couldn't be right."Joshua?" I croaked, my voice was hoarse. He bolted upright as if stung and his eyes widened with terror. "Serena! What…what happened?"I narrowed my gaze, my brows were furrowed, “I don’t know you tell me!” I yelled. But before he could offer any further explanation, the door to the room slammed open. Leading the surge was Derek, his face was masked with fake fury.Close behind h

ARDAN’S POVDerek did not fail to hide the confusion on his face. Why would the Lycan King, the most powerful shifter alive, intervene on a mere omega’s behalf? I ignored the stunned faces around me, focusing solely on the face sitting upright on the bed.“Put your clothes on," I commanded. My gaze then shifted to the wolf next to Serena on the bed, Joshua, I recalled. "And you," I said with a low snarl, "get out. Now."Joshua didn't need telling twice. He scrambled off the bed, hastily and fearfully. Still, Serena remained covered in the sheet, using it as a flimsy shield to hide her nakedness.Cora couldn't resist a disdainful snort. "Well, aren't you just the picture of grace," she said to Serena. "The Lycan King himself asks you to put some fucking clothes on, and here you are, clutching a sheet to your bare chest like a lost pup."My head snapped towards Cora. "If you don't want to end up as a decoration on the wall like your beta," I warned, "learn to control your fucking tongue

SERENA’S POVThe door slammed shut behind him, leaving me alone in the silence. Tears welled up in my eyes, I felt utterly powerless, trapped in a cage.I couldn’t let Derek break me. I would survive. And when I turned twenty, when I unlocked the secrets of the box, I would find a way to my freedom. A way to avenge my parents and escape the clutches of this monstrous man.It was a long shot, a desperate hope, but it was all I had. Until then, I would play the part of the meek servant, bide my time, and wait for my chance.I straightened the simple dress one last time, forcing myself to take a deep breath. Tears had left their mark on my cheeks, but I quickly wiped them away.Stepping out of the room, I made my way towards the conference room. My heart pounded as I walked only because I wanted to meet King Ardan with utmost composure. As I entered, my gaze met Ardan. He stood by the window with his back to me. “Ardan?” I asked, shock showing on my face.” what are you-”“Do Not speak.” he cut me off, enunciating every word. I shut my mouth quickly and drew back, attempting to close my legs, but he would not let me.He grabbed me by the ankles and pulled me forward until my core was nearly parallel with his nose, and he sniffed. He took long, deep breaths of my core and looked like he was fighting not to leap at it.What was he doing? I could only lay there, shaking in fear and arousal, wondering what he would do next.He finally moved, dragging his tongue across my core in one long, wet path. I gasped, immediately baking up and closing my legs.“We are not doing this, and we are not doing this,” I mumbled, scrambling further backward, but Ardan refused to give me any space, closing the gap as soon as I made one.Eventually, he backed me up against the wall. There was nowhere left to run. He grabbed me by the throat, caressing my neck softly.“Don’t run from this, Serena.” He murmured into my

My wolf seemed to have a better understanding of fate than I did. After comforting myself that I should calm down and allow time to prove that there is more to what appears shallow on the surface, I laid myself to rest in a deep slumber.Every new day comes with its hurdles. I was, and I was prepared for whatever might come my way again.I stepped out to begin my day, but the person I saw was a represented day.Someone was already standing outside the door, a tall brunette with a harsh face.Emma.She was the one who raised Ardan from childhood. “Here comes the wench! Aren't you just shameless?” She announced. Her lousy voice broke my thoughts. She was fond of mocking me like I was her sworn enemy in her past life, and she was determined to humiliate me at every given opportunity.“Wash it clean and have it ironed, too.” She tossed a maid dress to me. I picked it up, and I dare not object to her. “Why are you still standing?” She asked rudely.“I. I thought you wanted me to wash this

  • Mate? Or Die!   Chapter 186 THE FINAL BATTLE

Serena’s POVThe forest was around us as we made our way toward the witches’ stronghold. There was tension in the air and every sound was amplified by the gravity of what lay ahead. Rachel walked beside me, her face was pale yet she had determination written all over it.Behind us, Ardan and Zone exchanged quiet words with a lowered and serious tone.I clutched my stomach instinctively, the life growing inside me was a constant reminder of how much was at stake. My thoughts were only of doubt and fear. Could I lead them into battle knowing I might not return? And what if Gloria’s spirit was right—what if my child was destined to bring destruction instead of unity?“Serena,” Ardan’s voice pulled me from my thoughts. He had moved closer with piercing gaze locking onto mine. “We’ll get through this. Together.”I nodded, though I wasn’t completely certain. I wanted to believe him, but Gl

  • Mate? Or Die!   Chapter 185 Uniting the Wolves

Serena’s POVThe next morning, I jogged along the perimeter of the camp. My thoughts were filled only with uncertainty. Every step felt like an attempt to outrun the guilt of Zone’s sacrifice and the prophecy Draven had shared. My body ached, my Wolfmother instincts sharpened with every passing day, but I pushed myself harder. The pack needed me to be strong, even when I wasn’t sure I could be.I slowed down near the eastern border, catching my breath as the first rays of sunlight appeared. That’s when I heard it—a low, labored groan from the forest. My heart stopped.“Zone?” I whispered.I ran towards the sound, my legs moved before my mind could fully process the possibility. And then I saw him.Zone staggered out of the trees, his body covered in wounds and dried blood. His clothes were torn, and his usually sharp eyes were clouded with pain, but he was alive.“Zone!” I ran towa

  • Mate? Or Die!   Chapter 184 A HEAVY BURDEN

Serena’s PoVI stood at the edge of the camp Joachim had given us guests to stay. The plague had taken its toll on us, leaving everyone on edge. They were nervous and even unbelieving of better days. I rubbed my temple, worried that one day, their feelings might be correct.“Serena,” Zone called out, breaking me away from my rancid thoughts. “The patrol spotted movement in the forest.”“What kind of movement?” I asked.“Infected wolves,” he said grimly. It’s almost like we were now used to this life so it was not a surprise to me. “We’ll handle it,” I said grimly.“I just wonder when these crazy attacks would stop. I’m hella tired of them I swear to you.” Zone confessed.“I don’t know that answer to your question, Zone. I wish I knew.” I replied tiredly. When we arrived at the forest, the attack came faster than any

  • Mate? Or Die!   Chapter 183 THE MISSION TO DESTROY THE MAGIC

Serena’s PoVI thought about what Zone had said about the curse and we all decided to fan out to look for the source. Every step seemed like a march towards the unknown. Zone led the way while Ardan stayed close to my side. I walked faster, cause I didn’t want him to sense I was pregnant. The only sound one could hear was coming from the crunch of leaves beneath our boots. The forest was so quiet.“We’re close,” Zone said in a low tone.“How can you tell?” I asked, keeping my voice hushed.Zone gestured to a cluster of withered plants nearby. “The further we go, the more the magic corrupts the area. Look at the trees—dead, but not decayed. It’s like the life was drained out of them.”A shiver ran down my spine. The remnants of Gloria’s magic were everywhere. It was like a dark stain on the land.Suddenly, we heard noises through the trees. A group of infected wolv

  • Mate? Or Die!   Chapter 182 SIGNS AND WONDERS

Serena’s PoVI woke up instantly, feeling like vomiting and obviously it compelled me to quickly come out of the tent. I sat on the ground, vomiting inside a bush in front of me. Then I placed my head down and tried to grab the grass around me to find balance. I breathed in shallow gasps.“Serena?” Rachel’s concerned voice called from behind me.I shifted my head to the side and ran my fingers through my lips. “I’m fine,” I managed to say but even I didn’t believe it.“You’re not fine,” Rachel said firmly, kneeling beside me. Then taking the back of her hand she touched my head and it was quite hot. “You look pale and your pulse is rapid. How long have you been like this?”I shrugged, replying with a shaky tone. “I don’t know. It just started. I just thought it was the stress… everything that’s been happening.”Rachel’s eyes nar

  • Mate? Or Die!   Chapter 181 A FRAGILE PEACE

Serena’s PoVOur days in the rogue pack had surprisingly been more peaceful than I expected as long as we minded our business and they minded theirs. Not until a new pack had arrived seeking sanctuary, and while I understood their desperation, the strain on our resources was undeniable. Food was scarce, tempers were high, and fights were breaking out almost daily."That's the last of it!" a voice shouted near the food supply tent, then came the sound of a scuffle. I turned to see two wolves, one from Ardan’s pack and the other from a newly arrived group, grappling over a bag of dried meat.I hurried over with Zone following me close behind. "Stop it!" I commanded. The two wolves froze with their hands still clutching the bag. “He took more than his share,” the younger wolf from our pack growled. His eyes blazed with anger. The older wolf from the new arrivals scoffed. “We’re starving. You don’t get to hoard everything for yourselves.”I stepped between them and took the bag from their

  • Mate? Or Die!   Chapter 180 A FRAGILE ALLIANCE

Serena’s PoVThe rogue camp was weirdly quiet as Isiah led us deeper into the heart of their territory. Soon, we came across his people. Their eyes were on us in every step we were taking and I could almost feel the judgment from them. These wolves didn’t trust us, and I could not blame them for that. Rogues were known for their distrust of outsiders, especially pure wolves like us.“Stay close,” Ardan murmured as we entered an area where a large tent stood.Isiah pushed aside the heavy canvas flap and then gestured for us to enter. “The alpha is inside. Let me do the talking,” he said firmly. The rogue alpha, a tall elderly man with a few strands of grey hair, stood waiting for us. He radiated authority and one could see it even without him saying a word.“What’s the meaning of this, Isiah?” the alpha asked gruffly. His eyes scanned Ardan and me and they lingered briefly on the bloodstains on our clothes.“These wolves need our help,” Isiah began, gesturing toward us.The alpha scoff
