Mary Redferne

As I walked out of my room, dressed to meet Judith for the first time after the haste wedding, I felt a rush of nerves wash over me. There was so much I needed to tell her and I knew it was going to blow her mind. Joseph was in the kitchen, cooking breakfast, a sight that never failed to make me smile.

I approached quietly, not wanting to disturb him as he worked his culinary magic. His back was turned to me, his broad shoulders hunched over the stove as he tended to the sizzling pans. The loose navy blue shirt he wore clung to his muscular frame, accentuating every contour of his body. Despite my best efforts to keep my gaze averted, I couldn't help but admire the way the fabric stretched taut over his biceps and shoulders, sending a flush of warmth creeping up my cheeks.

Stop staring at your husband, Mary.

I cleared my throat, trying to dispel the awkward tension that hung in the air. "Hey," I greeted him softly, my voice barely above a whisper.
