Mary Redferne

As we entered our home, I could see the exhaustion etched on Joseph's face. He looked worn out, burdened after meeting his stupid uncle. His shoulders drooped, and I couldn't help but feel sorry for him. It was obvious that his uncle's behaviour had affected him deeply.

But he would never admit it, he was too nice to do that.

The clock struck 11 pm as we sat in silence, the only sound the faint hum of the air conditioning and the occasional rustle of the pizza box as we finished our meal. Joseph seemed lost in thought, his brow furrowed with exhaustion.

We parted ways to head to our own rooms after exchanging a faint goodnight. While I was in a good mood after dealing with Joshua, I noticed that Joseph seemed a bit tired, so I refrained from starting a conversation.

But just as I was about to climb into bed, there came a gentle knock on my door, breaking the stillness of the night.
