Quinn's POV

I was so shocked that I couldn't believe what was happening right now. If anyone told me I would ever see Miranda again, I would have called them a liar. Seeing her walk through the doors sent a jolt of shock through my entire being. It was the last thing I ever expected, and she was the last person I ever expected to see. It felt like seeing a ghost, like watching an old part of your life just come back in so suddenly.

For a second I couldn't do anything other than just stare at her in shock. I was startled, unsettled, surprised, a bit pleased….as a matter of fact I was feeling so many emotions at a time that I couldn't put my finger on it. I tried to remember the last time I ever saw Miranda and it seemed like such a long time ago.

When she'd begun to talk, I just couldn't take it anymore. I had to understand what this was about. So I grabbed her arm and led her out of the room, dragging her down to another part of the house where we could be alone. And now as we stood

Amanda's POVMy mind reeled back to the girl. Miranda. That was her name, he called her when she arrived. The pure look of astonishment and pleasant surprise was an image that was hard to put out. And not to talk the way he pulled out of the meeting. My gaze drifted back to my duffel bag by the door and I remembered my pre-plan of getting away. That didn’t seem to bother Quinn anymore. He had been so intent on stopping me before but as soon as this girl arrived, he seemed to have forgotten all about it. I waited for long before I shot up from the chair where I sat, staring at the door. Half expecting to open to a pair of green eyes and stoic face. The thought irked me and a temporal shudder ran down my spine. My duffel bag was still where I kept it. Quinn didn’t come back after a while and I couldn’t help but ponder if the contract still mattered to him now that his ex was back. His supposedly hot ex that he couldn’t be with was back. Now that his father was dead, would he go after he

Quinn’s POV Amanda was strange in all the best way possible. She didn’t always do what I expected her to do. The only reason I wanted to go to the party was because I’d thought she would be going but it turned out to be she didn’t want to go.It was an intrusive thought, but I imagined how lovely Amanda would look all dressed up. She was beautiful, obviously. But the sheer thought of seeing her in a long lovely dress that showed all her curves, sitting in all the right places made me twitch.Furthermore, why hadn’t she rebuffed me when I called her a prostitute. Following the normal human reaction, she would have thrown a fit and called me out. But she did neither.Maybe she was exactly just that, a slut. There was no need to cause a fuss when it was, as a matter of fact, true…Or, she just didn’t have the energy proving to you that your intuition of her was wrong. A voice chipped in.It wasn’t just an intuition. My personal investigator had confirmed it. But why did I care? I shoul

Amanda’s POV Just as I’d expected, both of them were together. It would look as though they couldn’t spend time apart. I mean she just arrived and they were found in the same place. They were here parading around. And Quinn encouraged it even after knowing that we were married even if it was just on papers. The more I thought of it, the more it irked me. Did he not care for the contract? Did he not care what the press would publish when they saw them together? Right after granny gave a specific warning to keep away from drama and anything that would land us in the media house and make headlines. How did he become so reckless?Love! The words tasted so bitter in my tongue that I almost puked.Quinn and I locked eyes. He was about to dive into the water. My eyes darted to a splashing Miranda in the water, gasping for air. If she couldn’t swim, why then, did she get in the water. I eyed her in the pool splashing and yelling out to Quinn.Everyone just stopped and stared. Why did no o

Amanda’s POV I watched him with a stunned silence. A retort danced on the tip of my tongue but I bit back on it. Rather I smiled sweetly and side stepped for his ex lover to join us.Miranda meandered her way to us. I was beginning to believe the girl did not have any decent clothes in a wardrobe. She wore a sleeveless short gown that stopped just before her knee. Her hair was packed up into a neat bun. I couldn’t help but think that she was endowed with good features.I scoffed and rolled my eyes.We were shown to a table for three. Three chairs went around a circular table that sat in the middle. Reaching the spot that had been chosen for us, Quinn pulled out a chair for Miranda to sit on.She flashed him a very sweet smile and muttered, “thank you.” She said in a sniveling tone. He offered her a clip nod with a side smile. What the hell?Just before he sat, our gaze brushed the slightest bit before it darted to a beaming Miranda.“Oh, Quinn, you’re still the gentleman that I knew

Amanda’s POV As I woke up I tried to shake off the strange feeling from yesterday. The embarrassment still tasted in my tongue like it was today and I cringed remembering how jealous I was. Over Quinn.Today was a new day and with a new day came new possibilities and a chance to start anew, putting yesterday behind like it never happened. Which should not have.I had a quick shower, opened the curtains to let the sun rays from outside escape into the room. Arranged my room and changed into some comfy clothes— a grey sweatpants and a black sweatshirt. Taking a brief look at myself in the long length mirror I heaved a sigh of relief. “Yes, Amanda, you have nothing to be ashamed of. It’s not like you did anything.” I nodded, agreeing. It wasn’t as if I’d emptied the wine on her like I imagined. So I’m good.I was going to try to avoid them and not stuff my face in their business. Nothing could spoil this day, not even Quinn’s ex-lover.But just as I opened the door to my room to step o

Quinn’s POVI stared at the police officers, my brows drawn. “You meant all the CCTV cameras were wiped off?” I asked as though I hadn’t heard him perfectly when he said it the first time.“Yes.” The police officer answered gravely. He also seemed to be disappointed and furious at the outcome. I could imagine how it looked on them; one word, incompetent.I stared at the computer screen before me. Confirming what the police officer had just said. “So there’s no way to get the people that attacked me?”“It would seem so, Mr. Quinn.” Answered the police officer. “Here.” He pointed at the camera footage and time and then provided a photo from his pocket. “The footage from 1pm was deleted. Not only that, the hard drive of the surveillance cameras are missing from that day.” He further explained.I stared at the jump in time. There was surveillance footage from 8am to 12pm but there was nothing after that. The next time started by 4pm. A whole three hours missing.“And there’s no way we can

Amanda’s POV My eyes never seemed to get enough of the feed. My phone was buzzing with new pictures and write ups. Different bloggers carrying the news and rephrasing it in some twisted and enticing way.“Hello, Vanessa?” I called into the phone, shock drowning my voice.“Well hello girl, have you seen it?”“Yeah. It would be hard not to see it.” Some string of curses followed suit as I swiped up, not having enough of it. By the end of today this would be the most searched thing on the web.“Who did you think made such a post?” I quizzed, squinting to read some comments.“Girl, is that what you are concerned about right now?” I imagined her brows furrowed, her incredible eyes squinting at me as if to understand my words.“Shouldn’t I be?” I asked.“Girl!” She shrieked, “someone is trying to take your man and that’s what you are concerned about? Who made the post? Get serious with me.”I inhaled. “He is not my man, Vanessa.” She had this idea in her head that we were in love, too many

Amanda’s POV Sometimes I did not know what to make of Quinn. He confused me sometimes and then the majority of the times he made me furious. Like it was a full time job.The audacity he had, the nerves to stand before me, flash the news to my face and fucking accuse me when he was the one parading around town with his ex.“Are you kidding me?” It was hard to keep my voice from going sharp. “You went around the mall, flaunting your ex- and you didn’t expect anyone to capture it?” My brows narrowed as I posed the question which from his face seemed to get him more angry.I crossed my arm over my chest. “From your actions it seems you are not interested in the contract again, do me a favor and call it off.”A look of realization dashed across his face before it was quickly replaced with flaring eyes. “ oh,” he stepped into the room and I moved back from instinct. His steps were purely predatory, “ is this your way of backing off from the contract?”My brows pinched together from sheer fr

Quinn’s POV With everything already blown on our faces, I was left with one choice; going to see our biggest investors. She had sent her message. Currently she was in her private mansion and her secretary was leading me to her.The mansion was big, everything in the hallway was made white with fluorescent lights and chandeliers. She was our biggest investor for a reason.A double lidded door, white in colour stood at the end of the white fluorescent hall. Her secretary stepped aside and pushed the door open. As she ushered me in, she bowed and shut the door behind me.This was her office I supposed. Her back was to me as I stepped inside. She swirled on the chair———my mouth fell open at the woman….no, the lady on the chair. I struggled to blink, then looked around for the woman that had always appeared on screen. A woman in her late thirties or forties. But now as I stared at the woman, all I saw was a young lady, Quickly, I schooled my expressionWhy did she hide her identity behi

Amanda’s POV With cold feet and jelly legs, I walked to the room which seemed faster than it usually was. Sweat dribbled down the small of my back. Dread pooling in the deep of my stomach.I stood outside the large double lidded door, contemplating and hesitating opening the door. I imagined all their faces, red hot with anger. Especially Quinn.Slowly, with stiff fingers, I took the door knob and pulled it open with eyes shut.It was like stepping into a new world where you revealed everyone’s secret and they hated you. They were angry, not in a theoretical or any fancy way, they were red horn angry.I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me in that instant, but instead I clenched my fist and swallowed hard on my saliva.“Good morning, everyone.” I bowed and hurried over to a seat, avoiding everyone’s gaze. Seating down, I merely made myself comfortable, when Mrs. Rosaline started, making me jerk up back to stand. “What the hell did you do by sending a wrong file to our bigges

Quinn’s POV She probed his face, staring at the damage on his bruised lips, black eyes and many more I’d destroyed on his face. She cursed again, tutting at the wounds and cuts. He was barely holding up right, eyes swollen and black.“Who did this to my son?” She demanded more persistently this time. I watched her as her face grew pensive inspecting every new cut with a horror struck face.“Logan… Logan.” She held his chin, delicately not to cause any more pain, but the smallest touch made him wince. “Who did this to you, tell me, who did this?”Logan of course didn’t answer, but his eyes were trained on me. Mrs. Rosaline whipped around to hold my form in deliberate questioning. “Did…did you do this to my son?” It was a great fit that she tried to tamp down the rage boiling in her throat. Her eyes were sharp like a newly crafted dagger. She held Logan’s face to me, “did you do this to my son? Your brother?” I made no indication to answer, she left him and was stomping towards me, s

Quinn’s POV I knew Amanda wouldn’t like my answer, but I had to just do it. I didn’t love Miranda anymore but it would be cruel to know that she had a problem and I wouldn’t help her out. “You can stay,” I said to her. I couldn’t look at Amanda’s face as I said those words to her. She fixed me with a steely gaze.Guilt ate at me. After everything I’d put her through, the last thing I wanted was to make her angry or make her feel bad. Left for only me alone I’d go out of my way to make sure she saw and believed that I was sorry and in regrets. The look on her face confirmed my fear. She was dead mad. She didn’t like the decision, but there was nothing I could do. I just couldn’t Miranda away. Miranda smiled, “thank you, Quinn. This means a lot to me.” She said, If Amanda could, she’d shoot lasers at her using her eyes. She observed her lips in a paused and thin line, eyes trained on Miranda’s form. With the hassle from yesterday, I believed we’d already made the covers of every ne

Amanda’s POV I woke up with the afterthought of my actions lingering in my head like a bomb ticking, ready to go off. When I rolled on my back I was welcomed by an empty bed. Quinn was not in bed. I looked out through the curtains and saw that it was still very early, the sky still had the pink and blue stripes mottle of colours and the moon was still visible, faintly.Somehow I was happy I woke up with him out already, doing what? I wondered. But his absence would make it easier for me to put up my walls and confront him why he was such a jerk to me, even without confirming from me that I was an escort as the idiot said. But then thinking about how much of a jerk he was, my mind reared back to last night how he’d come to my room. My lips stretched into a smile and the tingles from his touch thrummed in my skin like it just happened and then there was a fluttery feeling in the pit of my stomach.I stifled a scream and planted my face back into the pillow. Quinn’s POV “What?”Those words were like a bucket of ice emptied on me. She didn’t say anything after that, just stared at me with a sultry gaze.I was dumbfounded and starstruck. What could I possibly say at that moment? I just turned around and walked out with knees about to buckle. Everything was too much, the information was a lot to take in. It was as if I’d run a marathon on a completely different track. So many things scared me as her words replayed in my head. If I was her first that meant I’d been an asshole for nothing. More so I’d treated her so wrongly and jumped to conclusions. I had also been a coward, I never addressed her directly about it, just acting like a maniac with no reason.I hadn’t even confirmed what she said and I was already cringing and feeling all shitty. So many things were wrong with how I reacted, first and foremost I’d been a total jackass, even though it ended up being true, I never should have treated her that way, called her names, it was all i

I darted my eyes to Candace who was throwing a tantrum, believing that I was behind this. That it was my fault. I couldn’t even blame her, I’d react the same if I was her.Her face was tear stained and people were beginning to come for the wedding and now the groom was having a mental breakdown that he couldn’t go ahead for the wedding. Amanda’s POV Since I outrightly confessed my feelings to Quinn, I’d been avoiding him. Not because I confessed the way I felt about him, but because he’d had this dark, grim picture of me in his head. Now as I thought back to it I could understand why he was mean, cold, cruel and rude to me all the time. And like the coward he was he couldn’t ask me. One would think he had more balls as he was cruel but it was so fucking balless.Putting Quinn and his thoughts behind me, I stood before the long length mirror in my closet and ran a hand down the red dress I had on.It was finally the day. Logan and Candace’s wedding. Thinking about it, I felt bad for her. I mean she was a bitch, but Logan wasn’t a man I’d wished on my worst enemy.Imagine getting married to a man like that.I grimaced and a shudder snaked down my spine in horror.Just when I was curling my hair my phone vibrated on the table next to my makeup tools. Amanda’s POV “You have to confront that girl. Put her in her damn place.” Vanessa stated. Her brows were pinched together from anger. I couldn’t blame her though, Miranda was a two time bitch that pissed everyone off.Hearing about her alone made your stomach tighten in knots and made you want to punch a fist to a wall or better still her face.“What could I possibly say to make her own up to the fact that she actually caused me to trip and pour the drink on the lady?” I massaged my temples as I asked. The horror of that day returned to me and I inwardly cringed and recurled back. The abject stare that granny had fixed me with tasted like a bile in my throat. I hated to let people who looked up to me down. Granny was one of those people. “What more is there to say? You know and she knows that you know. Grab her like the bitch that she is and warn her never to try that rubbish again.” Vanessa’s voice was hard and so was her eyes.
