Ep 4.

The next morning Alice walked into her newly furnished office and frowned just looking at the rug with her name woven on it.

‘Good morning Mrs Alice my name is...'The clumsy nineteen year old intern and personal assistant rushed in and Alice's brows perked up.

‘Yikes,cool it down girl'.

‘Y...Yeah it's just that you're..you're legendary..I...I can't believe I'm standing in front of Landon Mikaelson's wife'.

‘Uhhh first I'm not legendary,and secondly I'm a normal person'.Alice chuckled and took the coffee from the overly excited blonde.

‘So what can I do for you Mrs Alice? ohhh I forgot to introduce myself.My name is Cassandra but my friends call me Cassy but you can also call me Cassandra if you want...I..I like being called Cassy anyway not that you care or anything'.The now introduced Cassandra rambled on leaving a bemused expression on her boss's face.

Was she even breathing?,Alice thought but shrugged it off and sat on the edge of the oakwood.

She waited for a while so Cassandra could get a grip of herself and when everything was settled she smiled warmly at the girl.

‘So Cassy...Where can I get a much better Mocha latte??'.

Landon frowned deeply as he listened to his voicemail,two of which were from Alice.

“𝑯𝒊 𝒊𝒕'𝒔 𝒎𝒆 𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏,𝒖𝒉𝒉𝒉 𝒊 𝒂𝒎 𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒇𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒊 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒇𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒆...𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒎𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔"

‘So you're gonna call her??'.Lucas asked as he opened a bottle of sparkling water.

‘No'.Landon replied without the slightest of interest in his voice.

‘Huh?? She's your wife Lan!!'.His brother couldn't help but feel shocked at the coldness of his actions.

‘She is my business wife Lucas and that doesn't necessarily mean I should act like a devoted and brainwashed husband,it shows weakness and I don't want—

‘What the hell are you actually talking about?? She is your wife and not a robot? Fine I get it's not a marriage of love but rather one of convenience but still—Call the damn lady! You've known her for a long time so act like a gentleman!'.

It was night already and Alice sighed deeply as she walked into her so called matrimonial bedroom all weak and tired.

Landon didn't even bother to call her back after she gathered enough courage to even call and text him.

Maybe it was a bad idea getting married to him,she thought as she took off her shirt and stepped under the shower.

He was a man that didn't mix business with pleasure and their marriage was just business to him.

She stepped out of the shower and wrapped a robe around her body,and came out of the bathroom only to see him on the edge of the bed.

‘Speak of the devil and he shall walk right in'.She murmured and his Head shot up from the laptop.

‘Excuse me,did you say something??'.

’N... Nothing,I didn't say anything.I thought you were staying in Limerick for a few days?'.She asked.

‘Lucas is taking care of it,how was your day at the office?'.He replied and was undoubtedly uncomfortable seeing her hair look so damp and was trying hard not to look at the space in between her bathrobe.

‘It was fine,I got to know about everything and I'm currently working on the deal with Cattaneo jewels and co'.She explained and he just nodded without lifting his head up.

Her heart itched to form a conversation and maybe get to learn more from him but his gloomy disposition made her think otherwise.

‘Stop staring Alice'.He interluded on her thoughts and she jolted.

‘What?'.

‘I said stop staring Alice, it's creepy'.He repeated and somehow the way he mentioned her name made her jitter.

‘I...I...I'm trying here Landon I swear to God I don't know what this is between us!'.She finally blurted out loud and he closed his laptop.

‘It was a business marriage Alice and—

‘Yes you don't think I know that?! It is a business marriage but it is a marriage nevertheless and we're both acting like we're strangers in a secret bunker! I can live the rest of my life like this??'.She said aloud and he drew out a stapled piece of document.

‘Then it doesn't have to be forever,I was planning on telling you this when we get to the office but I guess I should tell you now.Since this is a business marriage and partnership I was hoping that after a year we get a divorce so as for emotions not to—

‘Wait! You're giving me a contract which states that after a year we must both get divorced?!'.

‘Yes,yes that is true'.He said without any hint of emotion in his eyes and she scoffed loudly.

‘You know what Lan?! Screw this marriage and screw you too!!'.

‘What is wrong with you? Like I said before this is not a love marriage and you knew that before agreeing to marrying me.What do you want exactly? A husband who buys you chocolates and sends you flowers every hour of the day? A husband who tells you how much he loves you? A husband you gives you children? A husband who takes you out to fancy dinners and buy you expensive jewelry?! Sorry to burst your bubble Alice but I am not the ideal husband dream off!'.He fired back totally oblivious of the gravity of his words.

‘Do you think I want a perfect husband? Landon i have known you for years to be egocentric,arrogant,cold and a workaholic but never have I imagined you to be the heartless type!...F...Funny enough I knew I was falling into a bottomless pit when I agreed to marrying you but I still went ahead with it,ever cared to ask why?! For heaven's sake even if you don't care about the marriage at least act like you care as a friend or a family relation!'.She cried out.

He went silent.

He didn't say a word and she smiled with her eyes glazed with tears.

‘I think you should get back to work,I'll have the maids take my things to the guest room... it's obvious I'm not welcome here anyway and to even think that you were my fr...you know what just f**k it'.
