I shifted uncomfortably in my chair as I sat down in front of my brother, my heart pounding in my chest. The police officer seated beside him and my lawyer who was Edward, sat beside me, silently observing the tense scene. Dominic was not allowed inside the investigation room but he waited for us outside of the cell. I hated that I had to be a bother to him and at the same time, I was glad that we were both going to overcome everything that was affecting us soon. He had forgiven me and the next thing to do was to find answers to the past.

I couldn't bring myself to look at my brother. The betrayal felt too raw, too fresh. How could he have done this to me? I wanted to scream at him, to demand an explanation, but I knew that wouldn't help anything. He had always been like that while placing everything on me and walking free.
