Brody's POV
I closed the windows and put down the curtains. "Today was fast, I can't believe it's night already." Karen murmured. She helped me arrange the bedspread and we sat on the bed. The doctor had me discharged from the hospital quickly so I could rest a little before traveling back to meet my family. My mind drifted to Helen, she had really suffered a lot and losing a baby was just not the best thing to experience right now. Even though she had this funny and annoying behavior, I loved her more than anyone. I didn't want anything bad to happen to her and her child because I know what I've been through."So we're leaving for Texas tomorrow?" Karen suddenly asked, jerking me back to reality.I gave her a shaky laugh. "Yeah, I can't wait to go back. I can't wait to see Helen, I don't know what she would be going through right now."Karen placed her head on my chest. "Everything would be alright, I'm sure about that.""Funny enough, I've got youBrody's POVWe finally arrived at my mansion after boarding a plane back to Texas. Mom welcomed us with a hug as we walked into the house. "I've missed you." Mom told her as soon as she hugged Karen.Karen giggled excitedly and I smiled. "I've also missed my husband's family." She replied.Diego ran towards me. "Brody, what did you get me?" He asked.I smiled charmingly at him. "I've ordered pizza for you, it should get here in less than an hour." I answered and hugged him. I wondered if my mom told him about the good news because he didn't even seem bothered at all."Alright Brody, I'll wait for them." He replied and walked up to Karen. "Karen, how are you doing?" He asked her.Karen stole a glance at me before replying. "Absolutely wonderful. Last night was....." She paused and suddenly remembered she wasn't supposed to talk about what happened last night. I knew she couldn't get it off her mind.I chuckled softly and her cheeks flushed red in embarrassm
Karen's POVHow could I tell him that I was nervous when I greeted him? "I'm sorry sir, I was...."He interrupted. "It's alright, I don't expect much from an illiterate. A lady who does not own any company," he looked at Brody and then turned to look at me. "Did you even go to a university?" He inquired."Dad, I won't...""It's alright," I whispered to Brody, I didn't want him to be disrespectful to his dad. "I dropped out of high school, my parents didn't have enough money to further my education." I informed him and he chuckled softly. He was livid. "I absolutely knew you didn't go to a reputable university."Brody's mom gave him a stern look. "Honey, I don't think we should be discussing this. Let's just have dinner as one family.""Dinner?" He asked. "I'm not going to have dinner with that woman." He added referring to me and climbed the stairs hurriedly.Brody held me and made me sit down comfortably on the sofa. I didn't even know his father
Brody's POVOpening the door of my dad's room, I found almost all my family relatives outside the room, it was obvious they were eavesdropping on our conversation. Helen smiled at me as I walked towards her. I hugged her immediately and she giggled excitedly.I could feel her happiness and freedom from her expression. "I've missed you a lot." She said, releasing herself from my grip."I've also missed you, I'm sorry I didn't tell anyone before going to Los Angeles."She frowned and pinched me. "What actually happened? You didn't even bother to call us, we were all worried.""I'm sorry, I and Helen went for a honeymoon." I lied and she nodded. We both walked into the room and Karen's face brightened when she saw Helen, the both of them hugged each other and sat on the bed. I smiled as I saw the both of them together."I'll leave the both of you to talk." I said and walked out of the room. I heaved a sigh of relief before climbing down the stairs. I was surprised
Brody's POVThomas came to meet me in the parlor with a flower. He gave it to me with a smile. I looked at him, confused. I didn't understand the reason for the flower he gave me. "Huh, I just wanted to say sorry for everything I've done to your family." He apologized.I chuckled and threw the flower at him. "This is a joke, right?"He shook his head still putting on an excited expression. "I plucked it in the garden, I didn't know what you would like so I just decided to give this to everyone."I scoffed. "Really? A flower? What am I supposed to do with that?"He chuckled softly and sat down. "I don't know, I'm just asking you to forgive me.""You didn't do anything.""You were angry with me when you found out that I was cheating on your sister."I looked at him with a frustrated sigh, he was definitely right, I just couldn't believe my eyes that night when I discovered that he was in another relationship after getting married to Helen."Everything'
Brody's POVI sat up on my bed and looked at the time. Ten o'clock in the morning, how did I sleep for so long? I was still feeling sleepy but I managed to get up. Karen walked into the room with a smile on her face. "You're in a good mood today."She frowned and removed her top. "Believe me, I'm not in a good mood. I hate parties now, I didn't know the guests would be much."I chuckled. "So that smile on your face was fake?" I asked her with a grin. She gave me a crooked smile. "Absolutely fake.""Why didn't you wake me up this morning?" I asked her as I removed my shirt. She wore a short gown and looked at herself in the mirror. "Yesterday night was fun, I didn't want to disturb you besides you bought clothes for me when we went for shopping."I looked at her with a casual smile as she glanced around her. "What are you looking for?""Huh, my phone." She answered.I offered quickly. "I can help you with that.""No, don't bother, I'll
Karen's POVI placed the bag on the bed and brought out the gifts Aunt Patricia bought from me. I found three new gowns in the bag and I smiled. She was trying to be nice to me, I just couldn't believe that the woman who hated and wanted me out of Brody's life bought me gifts. The door opened and Brody walked in with a grin on his face. "New clothes?" He asked, slamming the door behind him gently.I nodded. "Yeah, Aunt Patricia bought these beautiful gowns from me, I'm so excited that she has finally discovered that I'm not a bad person.Brody stared at me in awe, he was really shocked that his excitement was not expressed freely on his face. He sat on the bed and dropped his phone beside him. "I might get a new phone soon." He voiced out."Why?" I inquired."It has a virus already. Sometimes, it stops working during an important call or meeting." I answered with the hope of answering her question."You can meet a phone technician to check it and repair it. You
Karen's POVThe party had started already and I could hear people's screams and laughter from outside. I looked at my face in the mirror for the last time and smiled. I stepped down the stairs of my house, wearing my crimson red dress."Gorgeous, my Queen." Brody commented as the crowd danced to the music."Thanks, my King." I replied and we walked side by side to the dance floor."Last time I checked, you were a bad dancer. I don't know if you have improved because I don't want to save you from falling."I chuckled softly and squeezed his hands reassuringly. "I won't fall, I just want to give it a second trial." I told him.He nodded and held my hand. "I don't feel like dancing today." He replied and climbed the stairs."I thought you guys wanted to dance." Helen said as she stood in front of me.I nodded and scanned through the guests worriedly, I didn't want Bill to come. "Yeah, he changed his mind and I didn't want to get embarrassed eit
Karen's POVTears rolled down my cheeks. "Bill," I called out in a weak tone. "Please don't do this." I pleaded, my face went pale."You should have thought about this before falling in love with each other." He replied and snatched a mic from the musicians. He looked at us before making his stupid announcement. "Everyone, I have an announcement to make."The whole guests outside turned to look at him and some of the guests from the hall came outside when they heard his voice.Brody squeezed my hands gently trying to make me assured that he was not going to tell everyone the truth. "Everything would be alright." He assured me.I nodded and turned to look at Bill, he cleared his throat before making an announcement. My eyes scanned through the guests and found Brody's family looking at him. My heart skipped a beat as I heard Bill's voice. "I'm a therapist and Brody's my client," he began. I could feel my heart thumping hard in my chest due to fear.My gaze slowly re
