Karen's POV
We walked into the small room, the place was dirty and rough. I managed to find somewhere to sit and Thomas leaned on the wall. "I'm sorry for everything." He apologized with a sorrowful voice."It's actually not your fault, I'm sure everything would be alright.""This is actually frustrating. I really love my husband and I don't think I can leave him. And Brody's father just wants to get rid of me quickly." I replied in frustration.I was getting tired of everything. I just wanted to be with my husband, I wanted to be in his arms but I was just not lucky. Why was this happening to me?"I'm not going to do anything that would make your relationship with Brody end." He suddenly said, jerking me back from my thoughts.
I looked at him with a frustrated sigh. There was no possible thing he could do than to keep me in this room. "Brody's father is against my relationship with his son, I don't know what to do and I'm sure my husband would be seriously worrBrody's POVIt didn't even feel like I slept for more than a minute, I had spent the whole night restless and sad. Karen was not by my side and it made me really sad.I was very sure that she would never betray me and run away with my car. She would never do that to me because she loved me. She would never leave me.I felt a slight headache as I tried to assure myself. Walking into the shower, I had a quick bath and wore a plain shirt with a jeans trouser. My mind seemed to drift back to her and I realized that I had barely slept for hours. The door opened and Thomas walked in, I heaved a sigh of relief as I saw him. "Where were you last night?" I inquired with a smile. I didn't want him to feel sad about what has been going on.He winked at me and sat on my bed. "I was really busy, I'm sorry I couldn't come home early."I nodded. "Yeah, I totally understand."He rolled his eyeballs and slanted me a look. "Where's your wife?" He suddenly asked and my
Karen's POVI felt dizzy and sat on the floor. I didn't want to fall sick but I couldn't help it. My eyes itched me and I felt like vomiting every second. This was totally the worst day of my life. I stood up again and gently opened the door.Stepping out of the small house, I walked towards a small cafe and occupied a restaurant. The waitress came to meet me with a smile on her face. "What would you like to eat, ma'am?" She asked, dropping the menu on the table.I looked at her with a frustrated sigh. Couldn't she give me anything to eat? I was really hungry and I needed something to eat quickly. "Anything would do." I muttered. Her eyes widened, confused. "Okay, you should try our salad." She said."Alright, bring it." I replied and watched her leave after taking the menu from the table.I placed my head on the table quietly and patiently waiting for the meal.Brody's POVI watched the men handcuff my father and the tears came out freely, I almost fainted d
Brody's POVThomas opened the door with a spare key and we both walked into the apartment. "I can't stay here." I told him and walked out of the house almost immediately.I wondered if Karen was comfortable in the small and dusty house. After a few minutes he came out of the house with a frown on his face. "Why did you leave?" He inquired."I just couldn't cope with the dust, the room's dirty and unkept. You don't stay here, do you?""Well, I did stay here," he said and my eyes widened. "Not for long, it was just for two days.""I can't even stay in that room for more than a minute. It just doesn't suit me." I replied. He cleared his throat. "Karen's not in the room." He told me.My heart raced rapidly. Where could she have gone to? "Have you checked everywhere?" I asked. He nodded and sat on the floor. "I don't know what to do, she's not there but I don't think she went somewhere far." He answered.I frowned. "Where could she have gone?""I don't
Brody's POV"No, I don't want her to be worried about me." He answered."There's someone behind you." He muttered and I turned back to see Karen staring at me. Before I could take a step, she was already in my arms.I chuckled softly when I finally placed a kiss on her forehead. "I love you so much." She muttered.I couldn't help but get excited at those words. "I love you more than anything in this world." I replied. I had never felt this way before, I was feeling too excited and happy that I was finally with her.She looked at Thomas and smiled at him. He took that as a sign to leave and he moved towards the other side of the road. I and Karen began walking on the street as silence engulfed the atmosphere."I heard about your father," She said and stopped walking abruptly. "I'm really sad it happened, I didn't know the cops would find out."I also stopped walking and wrapped my arms around her waist. "You don't have to be sorry, you were never wrong and
FOUR YEARS LATERBrody's POVKaren came out of the kitchen with a smile on her face. "Where are the children?" She asked me."Upstairs, they're doing their school assignments. We don't want to raise dullards, do we?"She chuckled softly and slumped down on the sofa. "Of course not."I licked my lips and looked at her. "So what did you make?" I asked."You're always hungry."I smiled at her. "That's because I'm a father, I have twins who love me.""I'm also a mother of a handsome son and a beautiful daughter." She added."James and Ella love you." I told her."They love us." She corrected with a smirk."How's mom and dad? She didn't reply when I sent her a message on Facebook." I asked. She chuckled softly. "After she won last year's cooking reality show, she's been really busy." She explained gently.I shrugged. "And your dad?" I asked."Let's just say we're having a full house tomorrow." She answered and I narrowed my eyes
Karen's POVI woke up with a slight headache, I slowly got off the bed. Yawning, I looked at the other side of the bed. Emily was already awake, she was obviously thinking, her hair was messy and it looked like she had a nightmare."Good morning." I greeted her with a smile. She didn't seem to hear me. I yawned loudly again and covered my mouth, this time she looked at me with a smile. "Morning."Emily was my best friend from high school and wanted to stay in my house before she could find an apartment, I agreed to it because her aunt had maltreated her for a very long time."How was your night?" I asked her pensively. She stood up and walked to the door. "I'm fine, I'm sorry for sleeping in your room. I was just scared last night." She answered and walked out of my room.I walked into the bathroom and splashed water on my face, I slowly turned on the shower and had a quick bath.Coming out of the bathroom, I slumped down on the sofa. I needed a job, I
Karen's POVHe smoothed his silk tie against his crisply ironed shirt. "You'll surely get married, you should probably explore before getting married." He suggested.I chuckled. Folding my hands in front of me, I stared at his handsome face wondering why he got married without inviting me to his wedding. "I'm certainly angry with you." I muttered. He frowned, his expression troubled. "Why?" He asked me."Why didn't you invite me to your wedding?" I demanded, aghast. He laughed. "I knew you had a crush on me, it won't be the best time to invite you to my wedding.""Your wife's lucky, I wish I was the one who got married to you." The words pooped out of my mouth before I could control myself. He looked at me and sighed. "You caused everything." He reminded me. He was totally right, I lied to him that I didn't love him when he asked me two years ago. I didn't know what to tell him, I wanted to tell him the truth but I later figured out that he had plans to ma
Karen's POVWe walked out of the restaurant as soon as we finished eating. "Thanks for everything."He grinned. "I can drive you home, I was actually less busy and it's already in the afternoon, we wasted time chatting and having fun." He proposed.I pushed a strand of my hair behind my ear. "Fine, you can drive me home." I said and entered his car.He waited for a few seconds as if he was contemplating before he entered the car.Starting the car's engine, he drove off. My mind drifted to the contract, I wanted to sign it but I didn't want anything that would stress me. I was lost in thoughts as silence hung the air. He gave a cough that was supposed to sound scoffing but sounded sort of mockery instead."You've been thinking for a while now, you didn't even notice that I already parked outside your gate." He said. It dawned on me that he had already parked in front of my compound.I managed to smile. "Thank you Bill.""You
