Karen's POV
As I walked towards the door, I heard Bill's voice in my ear. "One million dollars."I cringed at the amount and turned back. "I'm ready to sign the contract, what are the terms and conditions?" I asked, I decided to let Brody get away with what he did cause I was also drunk."I thought you wouldn't be interested." He snapped."Well, I'm interested." I replied and cleared my throat. He laughed as we sat down on the chair. I looked at Bill who smiled at me. He brought out a document and placed it on the table. "I'm going to read out the terms," he paused and looked at me again with a smirk. "No sex, no kissing, no cuddling, no getting drunk." He added.I frowned. "Those terms were not compulsory." I replied and took the document, I glanced through the paper and smiled. "How long is the contract going to last?""It's only going to be for two weeks, you'll be able to live your normal life after that and I'll pay you." Brody told me,Brody's POVI drove into my organization and parked my car in the parking lot. It was a short but boring drive, walking into the organization, almost everyone scurried to their seats except my best friend. He looked at me with a smile. "What's the problem?" Alex asked.I became confused. I didn't remember informing him of any problem, I didn't know where he got the idea from. "I don't understand you."He chuckled. "I mean, we all know that you only come here when you're angry or you want to sack someone."I frowned. "That's not true," I told him, he looked surprised and perplexed. "I mean, it's not a lie but I don't always sack my workers."His brow furrowed in consternation. "Really?"I glanced through the hall, everyone seemed to mind their business. They avoided looking at me. "Is that the reason they all ran to their seats when they saw me?" I asked."No one's to get on your bad side." He answered.I shook my head in shock and w
Karen's POVI knocked on the door for about 2 minutes before Emily finally opened the door. "What were you doing?" I asked her and walked into house.Throwing my bag on the table, I slumped down on the sofa tired. "That question should be directed to you." She answered.I frowned, raising an eyebrow. "I don't really understand your point.""Where have you been?"I chuckled. "I came home this morning, I didn't meet you at home. I wondered if you didn't sleep here.""I slept at Henry's apartment." She confessed and I rolled my eyes."Why?" I asked, surprised."I was scared of staying alone." She answered with a smirk.I nodded and smiled at her. "It's your fault, you watched a horror film.""I'm not the one who's at fault, what happened? Did you guys do anything?" I asked, sitting up. I wanted to hear everything that transpired between them last night. She frowned. "The guy is a little bit dumb, the main re
Brody's POVI drove into the compound and I was surprised to see Helen, my sister together with her son waiting outside. I quickly parked my car and came down from the car.Walking towards them with a smile, Diego hugged me and I giggled. "Hi, I didn't know you would come tonight." I told her.She chuckled. "Yeah, I lied. I know that." She said as we walked into my house. My maids went to carry Diego's bag to the guest room.I adjusted my tie and sat down on the sofa. "Sir, will you like to eat now?" Lisa, one of the maids asked.I shook my head and turned to look at Diego, admiring his attitude and face, I smiled. "Your son is really cute." I commented."Thank you." Diego appreciated and I beamed with excitement."I was hoping to see your girlfriend, where is she?" Asked Helen.I turned to face her as she sat down. "Girlfriend?" I asked back, shocked. I didn't know mom told them already."We'll be visiting soon, mom told everyone about
Karen's POVWe arrived at his house late at night and his children ran to hug him. "Who's this?" Tricia asked her dad, pointing to me.He smiled at me and replied. "She's Karen Miller, my junior at school."Tricia looked at me, her face lightened up with a smile as she turned to look at Alvin. "I like that lady." She told him and I blushed."We bought you pizza." I muttered, surprised at how casual and carefree my voice sounded, Brody handed them the pizza, giggling.I watched the happy family and wondered why he said his children were sad. They certainly didn't look sad. "Please seat." Brody offered and I sat down comfortably on the sofa.I nodded and sat down as Alvin walked towards me. "We like you, Karen." He muttered."Thanks," I said and kissed his cheeks. "Come here." I added and raised him up, placing him on my lap.Tricia came to meet me, putting on an excited face. "Thank you for the pizza." She murmured."You're welcome."
Karen's POVI walked towards the door and tried to open it. It was already locked. My heart skipped a beat wondering how troublesome his children could be. "Tricia.... Alvin, open this door right now." I commanded in the most authoritative voice."Stay there for sometime, have fun." Tricia replied loudly from outside the door. The images of knives and sharp objects filled my head. "Don't go to the kitchen," I shouted, wondering if they heard me. When there was no reply, I sat down feeling dejected. "What do you think they're doing?" I asked."Planning a surprise." He answered, looking at his face, I wondered if he even cared about his children."This is all your fault. I shouldn't have come to your bedroom.""I'm sorry, I didn't know the children will act like this." He apologized to me. I blamed myself for coming to his house. It was all my fault, I silently hoped Brody didn't call Emily to ask about my whereabouts.I looked at him and an id
Brody's POV"What are you doing here?" I asked and fear gripped her. She was definitely trying to be bold but it was not helping matters."I'm here...."I interrupted. "What are you doing here late at night? It's already 12pm." I told him and she gasped.I was already fuming with anger but I was able to control my anger because we were not truly dating or in love with each other. How would a responsible woman be found in a man's house late at night, not just any man but her therapist?"You don't have the right to make me feel like an object." She said.I chuckled and responded nicely. "I'm not making you feel like an object."She frowned. "We just signed a contract but you're already monitoring my activities, did we agree on that?" She asked annoyed."I should be angry and not you." I muttered."And why shouldn't I be angry? Don't make me regret signing your contract." She remarked, a serious yet threatening tone lacing her voice."Y
Brody's POVLooking at her, I was totally confused. Why was it so hard for her to lie to him? "I'm his girlfriend." She finally told him."That's nice.""Thanks Diego, I've heard a lot about you from Brody." She lied and I chuckled silently."You're pretty and I can't wait for our family to get to know you when granny....""Diego?" I interrupted and ruffled his hair, I didn't want him to tell her that my mother was coming. "You should go to your room now." I told him with a smile.
Karen's POVWalking out of diego's room, I found him talking with his male visitor. "Karen, this is huh Alex." Brody introduced and I glared at him."I can introduce myself," Alex replied and looked at me, he smiled charmingly and I didn't seem to give him any response. "I'm Brody's best friend and personal assistant."I nodded with a smile. "I'm Karen Miller." I replied and caught my breath. I felt myself flush with an inner warmth I couldn't contain. I slowly turned to look at Brody. "Can I see you for a second? There's something important we need to talk about."He surveyed me thoughtfully and with a slow, sensual smile, he came over to meet me and we both climbed the stairs. We walked into the room and I hurriedly closed the door and turned to look at him. "How could you?" I asked, surprised as he pushed the words through his gritted teeth. He blinked at my stunned attitude. "Are you alright?""Your mother is coming right?" I asked and
FOUR YEARS LATERBrody's POVKaren came out of the kitchen with a smile on her face. "Where are the children?" She asked me."Upstairs, they're doing their school assignments. We don't want to raise dullards, do we?"She chuckled softly and slumped down on the sofa. "Of course not."I licked my lips and looked at her. "So what did you make?" I asked."You're always hungry."I smiled at her. "That's because I'm a father, I have twins who love me.""I'm also a mother of a handsome son and a beautiful daughter." She added."James and Ella love you." I told her."They love us." She corrected with a smirk."How's mom and dad? She didn't reply when I sent her a message on Facebook." I asked. She chuckled softly. "After she won last year's cooking reality show, she's been really busy." She explained gently.I shrugged. "And your dad?" I asked."Let's just say we're having a full house tomorrow." She answered and I narrowed my eyes
Brody's POV"No, I don't want her to be worried about me." He answered."There's someone behind you." He muttered and I turned back to see Karen staring at me. Before I could take a step, she was already in my arms.I chuckled softly when I finally placed a kiss on her forehead. "I love you so much." She muttered.I couldn't help but get excited at those words. "I love you more than anything in this world." I replied. I had never felt this way before, I was feeling too excited and happy that I was finally with her.She looked at Thomas and smiled at him. He took that as a sign to leave and he moved towards the other side of the road. I and Karen began walking on the street as silence engulfed the atmosphere."I heard about your father," She said and stopped walking abruptly. "I'm really sad it happened, I didn't know the cops would find out."I also stopped walking and wrapped my arms around her waist. "You don't have to be sorry, you were never wrong and
Brody's POVThomas opened the door with a spare key and we both walked into the apartment. "I can't stay here." I told him and walked out of the house almost immediately.I wondered if Karen was comfortable in the small and dusty house. After a few minutes he came out of the house with a frown on his face. "Why did you leave?" He inquired."I just couldn't cope with the dust, the room's dirty and unkept. You don't stay here, do you?""Well, I did stay here," he said and my eyes widened. "Not for long, it was just for two days.""I can't even stay in that room for more than a minute. It just doesn't suit me." I replied. He cleared his throat. "Karen's not in the room." He told me.My heart raced rapidly. Where could she have gone to? "Have you checked everywhere?" I asked. He nodded and sat on the floor. "I don't know what to do, she's not there but I don't think she went somewhere far." He answered.I frowned. "Where could she have gone?""I don't
Karen's POVI felt dizzy and sat on the floor. I didn't want to fall sick but I couldn't help it. My eyes itched me and I felt like vomiting every second. This was totally the worst day of my life. I stood up again and gently opened the door.Stepping out of the small house, I walked towards a small cafe and occupied a restaurant. The waitress came to meet me with a smile on her face. "What would you like to eat, ma'am?" She asked, dropping the menu on the table.I looked at her with a frustrated sigh. Couldn't she give me anything to eat? I was really hungry and I needed something to eat quickly. "Anything would do." I muttered. Her eyes widened, confused. "Okay, you should try our salad." She said."Alright, bring it." I replied and watched her leave after taking the menu from the table.I placed my head on the table quietly and patiently waiting for the meal.Brody's POVI watched the men handcuff my father and the tears came out freely, I almost fainted d
Brody's POVIt didn't even feel like I slept for more than a minute, I had spent the whole night restless and sad. Karen was not by my side and it made me really sad.I was very sure that she would never betray me and run away with my car. She would never do that to me because she loved me. She would never leave me.I felt a slight headache as I tried to assure myself. Walking into the shower, I had a quick bath and wore a plain shirt with a jeans trouser. My mind seemed to drift back to her and I realized that I had barely slept for hours. The door opened and Thomas walked in, I heaved a sigh of relief as I saw him. "Where were you last night?" I inquired with a smile. I didn't want him to feel sad about what has been going on.He winked at me and sat on my bed. "I was really busy, I'm sorry I couldn't come home early."I nodded. "Yeah, I totally understand."He rolled his eyeballs and slanted me a look. "Where's your wife?" He suddenly asked and my
Karen's POVWe walked into the small room, the place was dirty and rough. I managed to find somewhere to sit and Thomas leaned on the wall. "I'm sorry for everything." He apologized with a sorrowful voice."It's actually not your fault, I'm sure everything would be alright.""This is actually frustrating. I really love my husband and I don't think I can leave him. And Brody's father just wants to get rid of me quickly." I replied in frustration.I was getting tired of everything. I just wanted to be with my husband, I wanted to be in his arms but I was just not lucky. Why was this happening to me?"I'm not going to do anything that would make your relationship with Brody end." He suddenly said, jerking me back from my thoughts.I looked at him with a frustrated sigh. There was no possible thing he could do than to keep me in this room. "Brody's father is against my relationship with his son, I don't know what to do and I'm sure my husband would be seriously worr
Karen's POVHe held me gently and looked into my eyes. "We need to leave now," he whispered. My heart raced rapidly as I stared back at him."What about Brody?"He shrugged and sat on the sofa. "Brody does not need to know about us leaving, he won't find anyone except his parents at home when he returns." He answered with a smirk on his face.My gaze returned to the TV and I avoided him. "I'm not sure if I'm ready to leave my husband." I told him.He scratched his cheeks and tried to convince me. "We can discuss things later but let's leave this house first."I was getting scared already, his voice sounded deep and scary. "But why?" I asked."We'll discuss things later." He reminded me of his words and I nodded."Okay, I'll climb upstairs and take my clothes, I'll...."He interrupted angrily. "You don't have to take your clothes, I'll buy you new ones, I just want to take you to a safe house." He offered.I quickly followed him outside and e
Brody's POVAlex walked into my office holding two papers on his hands. It was obvious he had seen my resignation letter. "What's the meaning of all these?" He asked and threw the letter on the floor."What does it look like I'm doing? I'm definitely handing my position to you." I answered trying to fake a smile which was not worth it."I won't accept this, it's not acceptable. You can't just possibly leave this organization, this is your father's company...."I cut in. "Exactly, it's my father's company and not mine, I want to achieve a lot without anyone's help. I don't want to be ridiculed in future.""No one's going to make fun of you, it's only right that you become the CEO of this organization after you've managed it for a long period of time."A slight chuckle escaped my lips. "I didn't manage this company in a satisfactory way, I hardly came to work." I replied."What are you going to do after you leave?" He inquired."Music, I want to be a musi
Karen's POVBrody sat on the bed with a towel wrapped around his bath. "I thought you were sleeping, it's late at night already."I smiled, "I don't feel sleepy," I replied. "Thanks for the meal you prepared for me, I loved it."His face broke out in a grin. "You really don't have to thank me, you deserve it.""Huh, can we talk about something?"He nodded and shifted a little close to me. "What's wrong?" He asked with a soft and cool voice.I shrugged and hesitated to tell him at first but I continued after a short period of silence. "Won't you make your dad happy if you remain the CEO of his organization?" I finally asked, hoping to convince him to stay as the CEO even though I wanted him to continue his dream. He was baffled by my question. "I don't think I want to remain as CEO of his company, my dad's just being selfish.""But it's best if you listen to your dad, he probably knows the reason for saying you can't be a musician
