Roseline's POV

I was still blushing like an idiot when we sat back in the car.

"Stop overthinking; I just brought it for you because the lady was insisting on me and I didn't want to show that I hesitated in spending money. And the thing about buying you street food is that, after this contract ends, I don't want you to remember me as a heartless monster who kept you hungry." The one who hardly says a word spoke so much in his clarification.

It broke my heart knowing that it wasn't because he regretted his behavior or felt remorse for treating me poorly. I was sure that the pain was quite visible on my face so I tried to mask it with my witness.

"Well, you didn't need to do any of it. And from when did you start caring about the world?" As far as I know, only cares about himself. " Well, I hope I don't get stomach pain by eating the food you brought for me. We can't have your 'kind gesture' causing any inconvenience, can we?" The words flew out of my mouth, sharper than I intended
