"Lost somewhere?" His words brought me back to the world "Tell me if you want something"

If I genuinely only tell him what I need will he give it to me?

Bad Idea! He is not that type of man. He can never make me happy.

My head was still occupied with the thoughts of that couple which reminded me of the moments I had dreamed of. I never desired a luxurious life and a fancy restaurant, all I wanted was to have a simple life with my husband who could give me the freedom I want, the support I need, and share the food standing at the side of the street.

But as quickly as the wave of emotions washed over me, I pushed them aside, reminding myself of the reality of my situation. I was not in a position to indulge in such fantasies or yearnings. This dream is never going to be fulfilled at least not with him, I have to keep control over my desires.

I could sense his gaze lingering on me, his eyes fixed on my face, perhaps waiting for me to break my silence. But I remained steadfast, determined

Just come out; I don't want you to ruin my car," he said with a hint of annoyance, breaking the chain of my thoughts. His voice carried a tinge of impatience that reached not only my ears but also those of the people around us.I wrestled with conflicting emotions, torn between satisfying my hunger and maintaining my sense of self-worth.The weight of passersby's scrutiny added to the pressure I felt, intensifying my internal struggle."Come out already," he ordered, this time in a stern voice. It seems like he will pull me out of the car forcefully if I don't listen to him.Under the pressure of his order and my hunger, my resolve finally broke and I stepped out of the car. He moved the plate towards me as I was stood in front of him."You know, I am not sure if I can trust the quality of this street food. What if you have contaminated it with a potion that makes me burst into song every time I take a bite?" I askedHis eyes widened a bit at

The hunger in his eyes mirrored my own, and after a brief moment of resistance, he finally leaned forward, surrendering to the temptation that lay before him. With a teasing smile, I moved the chip closer to his lips, my fingers brushing against his skin as I fed him. It was a small, intimate gesture that sent a shiver down my spine. I watched intently as his lips closed around the chip, savoring the flavors that exploded in his mouth."How is it?" I asked, unable to contain my curiosity. My voice held a hint of anticipation, a desire for his approval.I wanted him to love it, to find the same pleasure in the taste that I did. Perhaps then, I could have an excuse to indulge in this guilty pleasure more often."Not that good" his words vanished the smile from my lips.He never fails to ruin my mood."It is deeply fried in oil which could be dangerous to the health and is no less than any poison" he argued"What does a monkey know about the taste of ginger?" Roseline's POV I was still blushing like an idiot when we sat back in the car. "Stop overthinking; I just brought it for you because the lady was insisting on me and I didn't want to show that I hesitated in spending money. And the thing about buying you street food is that, after this contract ends, I don't want you to remember me as a heartless monster who kept you hungry." The one who hardly says a word spoke so much in his clarification. It broke my heart knowing that it wasn't because he regretted his behavior or felt remorse for treating me poorly. I was sure that the pain was quite visible on my face so I tried to mask it with my witness. "Well, you didn't need to do any of it. And from when did you start caring about the world?" As far as I know, only cares about himself. " Well, I hope I don't get stomach pain by eating the food you brought for me. We can't have your 'kind gesture' causing any inconvenience, can we?" The words flew out of my mouth, sharper than I intended

I shrugged as I was not in the mood to talk. It would have been better if I hadn't done anything for myself, like buying street food and flowers. God! Why am I thinking like this when I know the reality of our relationship? "Is everything fine? You are not looking in a good mood" he walked behind me. "I am just tired" "Ah! Sorry, I am eating your brains out when I should be giving you some space as you have just returned from work" he spoke from behind. I chuckled. "It's ok, I don't mind" "That's the best quality in you that you find a silver lining in every situation" I just smiled at his remark "I won't bother you now" he chuckled "Take rest" I nodded and made my way back to my room. Keeping the file in its place and leaving the rose as it is, I went to take a bath and changed into something comfortable. My head was throbbing in pain by the time I came out of the room. I didn't know about the medicines and didn't want to bother Kevin unnecessarily, so I decided to distract

Roseline's POV The sudden change in his demeanor sent a shiver down my spine, leaving me uncertain and fearful of what might come next. My mind raced, desperately searching for answers to the questions that flooded my thoughts. What had happened when he went there? Has he found his lost love? Will he liberate me? The air in the kitchen seemed to thicken with tension as silence enveloped us, each of us frozen in anticipation of Vincenzo's next move. His jaw clenched tightly and his palms curled into fists out of anger. Understanding the depth of the situation, Kevin left my hand immediately. I still remember the way he reacted when he found me with Kevin in the bathroom that day at the party when I went to wash my hands. He wasn't pleased by the idea of me going close to him. "Brother, there is nothing the way you are thinking." Kevin sounded a bit concerned because he knows really well the true nature of his brother. Vincenzo's eyes flicked to his brother, throwing fireballs a

Roseline's POV Abruptly, he pulled me to himself and no matter how hard I tried to steady myself, I found myself stumbling over his body just the way he wanted. My head collided with his rock-hard chest and I hissed in pain but he didn't seem bothered by it. My ear pressed against his chest and I could clearly hear the loud thumping of his heart, which was covered under many layers but it was there, feeling things and doing more than just pumping blood. Attempting to regain my balance, I propped myself up on my elbow, only to have him grip my wrist more tightly and pull me closer to him, eliminating any remaining distance between our bodies that I was trying to create. "Uhh" A moan escaped my lips unintentionally when my soft body was crushed against his hard one once again and this time it hurt more than before. "Stay," he murmured, his voice thick and hoarse, burdened by the fever that consumed him. But still, in his vulnerable and weak state, he didn't forget to order me. My

Roseline's POV Placing the stuff that I brought for his care on the side table, I went to retrieve a clean cotton handkerchief, preparing it to be used as a cold compress. Dipping the cloth into the water, I gently spread it across his forehead. As the coolness of the cloth made contact with his fevered skin, his eyes flickered open. They were bloodshot, mirroring the reddened tip of his nose, and his lips, once vibrant, now appeared pale, chapped, and parted as he struggled to breathe through his congested nose. He was now inhaling through his open mouth as his airways were completely blocked. "I told you..." he began to mutter, his voice strained, and I knew he was going to stop me. "Shhh...." I shushed him before he could scold me. "Just keep your mouth shut for now." I placed my finger on his lips. He let out a sigh, as if finally giving in, and closed his eyes once more, throwing his head back on the pillow. I kept the cool cloth pressed gently against his forehead, providin

Roseline's POV In spite of all the humiliation, I still found myself ranting at him. "Why do you always keep pushing me away? I know the reality of our relationship and I am very well aware that we are going to change paths after 1 year. Until then, if you need it, you can at least share with me what's bothering you. Anyway, I am going to forget everything about you after this year ends. You need not worry about that," I said. He repeated my words, mocking my tone. "You need not worry about me. Sleep!" My frustration grew, fueling my response. "There are certain things over which you don't have power. Ordering me to sleep isn't going to magically transport me back to the deep slumber I was in before you started shouting." My voice crackled with annoyance. The silence hung heavy in the room, enveloping us in its tension and suddenly it was broken by the churning of his stomach. My eyes flicked down and his ears turned red out of embarrassment. And this reminded me that he di

Soon, they will start going to school as well. "Chocolate," he requested, his tiny hand reaching out and his big, hopeful eyes locked onto mine. He was blinking up at me innocently with a pout on his lips. I couldn't help but chuckle at his irresistible charm. "But you already had some today, my love," I said gently, aware of the perils of too much chocolate for a young child. "You know that having too much can give you cavities in your teeth."He pouted a little more, his eyes welling up with tiny tears."Mommy, plea

Roseline's POVWith only one month left until our babies would enter this world, Vincenzo and I were bursting with anticipation. Every day brought us closer to the moment we had been eagerly awaiting.Since the traumatic incident, I have become quite the homebody, rarely venturing outside except for my regular checkups. I clung to Vincenzo's side, feeling safest in his presence, and he never left my side for a moment. Most of my days were spent in a gentle cycle of sleep and study. The fatigue that accompanied this stage of pregnancy often left me too tired to focus on our startup project, much less anything else. I marveled at how some pregnant women managed to stay perpetually excited and energetic, while I struggled to find the motivation to even comb my hair.My eyes remained closed, and I was still lying in my comfortable cocoon when I felt a gentle hand on my head. An immediate sense of warmth and comfort washed over me, and a wide, contented smile spread across my lips.Vincenz

Vincenzo's POVI was with Roseline, selecting a dress, when I got an important call. As much as I didn't want to leave her alone, I had to attend the call as well. Asking her to stay at her place, I went to attend the call but to my surprise, the loss of network didn't let me hear anything. I had to walk ahead and suddenly I was pushed inside a room. I wasn't expecting it so I fell inside and before I could react, I was locked inside. "Open the door." I banged but no one came. Locked inside the dimly lit room, anxiety gripped my chest as I desperately tried to break free. The sound of my fist pounding against the solid door echoed through the space, but there was no response from the other side. I couldn't even see the face of the man who pushed me inside. But I am sure about one thing: everything is planned. I couldn't shake the feeling that something sinister was afoot, and my mind raced with thoughts of Roseline alone and vulnerable. Fear and confusion swirled within me as Kevin drove the car, leaving me paralyzed with disbelief. The Kevin I had known, the one who had shared laughter and joy with me, now seemed like a completely different person—a dark and dangerous one.I struggled a bit more but I sat back when I knew that there was no way out of this. I was already bone tired and I thought twice about keeping my energy reserved to fight with him once I was out of this car. I still couldn't believe that he was the same Kevin with whom I had shared so many laughs and giggles. I never knew that a devil was lurking behind that helping face. Vincenzo was already aware of his reality and this was the reason he was always asking me to keep my distance from him but I was so foolish that I never listened to him. I kept on looking out, trying to memorize the way so that I could run back when I got a chance to escape him. After what felt like an hour, he finally applied the brake. Roseline's POV"You really don't have a good collection," Vincenzo remarked, his voice tinged with frustration.I was getting tired, to be honest. We had been at the bridal boutique for three hours, and while I was falling in love with every wedding gown they had, Vincenzo seemed unimpressed with any of them.He kept suggesting that I try on various dresses, but my energy was waning, and I didn't want to spoil the excitement of him seeing me in my wedding gown for the first time on our actual wedding day. So, I politely declined."Don't we have other designs?" he inquired, turning to the boutique attendant."Sir, if you're not satisfied with our current selection, you can choose from a virtual catalog, and we'll tailor it to your preferences," she suggested."That's a great idea!" Vincenzo's eyes lit up with excitement. "Why didn't you mention that earlier? I want something that can match the beauty of my wife."The boutique attendant glanced at me, and I couldn't help but feel like a
