Chapter 6

Hazel's Point of View

"The Alpha of the Dark Knight pack is here." The guard said nervous. His body was shaking slightly but he still managed to compose himself. 

I gulped down my saliva nervously and beads of sweat started to form on my forehead. Before I know it. My heart started beating rapidly. I couldn't breathe properly because of the fear that had overtaken me. I kept my gaze on the floor to hide my fear. I keep on biting my lips. I'm afraid I will soon bite it off. I'm so scared right now. The door flew open and a sudden chilly aura hit me hard. I know immediately that the Alpha of the Dark Knight pack has arrived. Before I know it. I began to tremble. I dare not to raise my head. I bite my very hard as if that would ease my nervousness.

"Welcome Your Majesty."

I heard everyone greet the Alpha. I think I hear my father's voice too. His voice was very polite and I think my ear was playing a trick on me for a moment. So my father can be this polite. I can't even bring myself to greet the Alpha. I wanted to become as invincible as possible. I don't want him to notice me at all. Maybe he will choose Ella as his bride If he did not notice that I was even present. But luck isn't working my way.

Just then, I heard my father's voice "Hazel, won't you greet the Alpha." He said. His voice was laced with anger. I think he was trying his best not to sound aggressive and I am quick to catch it in his voice.

"Welcome Your Majesty," I said softly. My voice was low and could barely be heard. I still kept my gaze on the floor and I gripped the hem of my dress tightly. I don't know why I am doing this but I think that's what will help me for now.

"May I know the reason why you are hiding your face?" 

I heard a cold, yet familiar voice of a man. I widened my eyes in shock. Is my ear playing tricks on me? I'm sure I am not mistaken. This is the voice of the man that always appeared in my dream. 

Out of instinct. I raised my head instantly and was shocked to see a silver-masked man staring at me. It is none other than him. He is the one.

Maybe my eyes were playing tricks on me. Have I been thinking of him so much that I cannot think properly again? That must be the case. I rubbed my eyes instantly waiting for the man to change but he was still there with his eyes boring holes in my body.

I saw the usual evil glint in his eyes and my body shook uncontrollably. He is the one. I'm sure of that. My heart begins to beat rapidly. I'm afraid it will soon jump out of my throat. His eyes were fixated on me. Our gaze locked for a moment before I finally averted my gaze. My worst nightmare has finally come true.

"I will soon come for you, little witch."

His words echoed in my head and I shivered even more. So has he finally come for me?

I trembled slightly at the thought. My worst nightmare has finally come true. It still felt like a dream to me though. He even looked more terrifying than he was in my dreams.

I could still feel his intense gaze on me and I know I dare not. He must not be the Alpha. Maybe he is one of the Alpha servants. Though his cloth is that of royalty there is no way he will be the Alpha. I have never heard anyone mention that the Alpha of the Dark Knight pack always wears a mask. No one in his right mind will be walking around with a mask on his face. I always thought he was trying to hide his face so I wouldn't recognize him in my dreams. But for him to wear the mask here. That means this is not his first time wearing it. He might not be the Alpha and be the  Beta. I would rather be with the devil himself than be with him.

I don't even have the time to look at the people behind him because I'm so scared. To confirm my doubt, I decided to ask. Though my father is the worst father on earth at least, he will be generous enough to tell me the identity of this man before me.

I summoned you my courage and decided to ask. I directed my gaze to my father and flashed him a nervous smile

"Is... Is he the Alpha?" I asked in a stuttering voice. I can't seem to breathe properly with his intense gaze on me.

"Yes, he is."

My heart dropped instantly when my father replied to me and I widened my eyes in shock. I'm doomed. I can't escape it. There is no doubt that I will be the one he will choose as his bride. How can he be the Alpha? I could hear my heart slamming against my chest vigorously. It was as if it would jump out of my throat m What have I done to serve this injustice? What exactly did I do wrong to deserve this misery?

I know I must not cry now. He might take pity on me and go with Ella instead. I can only pray to the moon goddess in my head.

"Dear goddess, please help me this once. I will be grateful to you till my last breath. Don't let this devil choose me as his wife. Dear moon goddess. I will do whatever you want me to do if you spare me."

I prayed in my head and closed my eyes. Maybe the moon goddess will pity me.

I suddenly heard footsteps approaching me and I opened my eyes instantly out of fear.
