The Little Push She Needed

" How is Yutong? " Jiang Xiuying asked in English as she took a seat in front of Dr. Yukira.

The Doctor removed the glasses he was putting on and moved his chair closer to the table.

" I will be frank with you, it's a miracle that her fingers twitched. The poison in her body has already stop spreading further. Since we are still unable to detect the kind of poison in her body, we can only continue to monitor her for now. Hopefully, if she continues responding to treatment and the poison doesn't spread she might regain her consciousness very soon " Dr. Yukira informed as he reclined on his chair.

Jiang Xiuying nodded in understanding. If the poison doesn't spread to her heart, she might be able to regain consciousness but if it spreads, they might have to prepare for the worst. She felt a lump in her throat that made her unable to question the Doctor any further.

" Ms. Jiang, don't you think it's high time for you to drop the guilt you are feeling and visit your daughter? I know it's not my place to say this but avoiding her is not the best solution. If you are really sorry about what happened, you can make up for it by openly showing your affections for her. I heard from Chairman Lu that you relocated to China just for that. It's been two years now. Don't you think it's time for you to let go of the past?" Dr. Yukira asked Jiang Xiuying. He was a very good friend of Chairman Lu and also their family doctor so it was normal for him to be aware of some of the things in the family.

Tears welled up in Jiang Xiuying's eyes as her long lashes trembled slightly.

Dr. Yukira knew the impact his words was having on her but he continued nevertheless.

" Yutong is also a little child that deserves love but you deprive her of it. You keep on blaming yourself for your carelessness but what have you done to mend your past mistakes? You refuse to see her, talk to her or have anything doing with her. That's not the best solution. If you really feel guilty, you should spend more time with, say things to her, read her favorite story to her. It's possible if she hears your voice, she may get well soon. Don't you think you are being too selfish? You also deprived her younger brother of seeing her and went ahead to take him to China. " Dr. Nelson dared to voice out his opinion because Chairman Lu refused to tell her what was hurting him but rather poured it out to him and begged him to relay the message to Jiang Xiuying.

Dr. Yukira took a deep breath. " You should think about it carefully " He nodded his head at her in a dismissive manner.

Jiang Xiuying shaky legs managed to walk for a while before she slumped on the nearest chair. She buried her teary face in her palms.

Was she really a selfish mother? All she wanted was the best for her children. Yuxuan offered to follow her to China on his own accord. He explained that he didn't want her to feel lonely. She had been avoiding Yutong because she couldn't bring herself to face her daughter.

" Xiaoying? What are you doing here? " Lu Beichen asked as he approached Jiang Xiuying. Michael and Marcus were already back from their long break so he left them to meet Jiang Xiuying since she was taking so long in Dr. Yukira's office.

He noticed Jiang Xiuying shoulder trembling slightly and was taken aback. Lu Beichen has never seen Jiang Xiuying openly showing her vulnerability. He moved closer to her and embraced her warmly patting her back rhythmically. Unbeknownst to them, someone captured them the moment Lu Beichen pulled Jiang Xiuying into his embrace.

Jiang Xiuying tears intensified as Lu Beichen hugged her. Her warm tears poured freely on his shoulder with her snort staining his shirt which he didn't mind. He continued patting her till she calmed down a bit.

" I...I never knew I was making Yutong and Yuxuan unhappy with my actions. I was glad when Yuxuan offered to come with me because..... I thought it would be nice for him to change his environment and try to forget what happened.....on that night. " Jiang Xiuying said between her sob. She thought she was doing Yuxuan a favour.

Lu Beichen held Jiang Xiuying by her shoulder and looked into her eyes that was already red due to excessive crying. " I understand your intention but....do you know what Yuxuan told me yesterday? " He brought out his phone and showed her a text message.

[ Uncle Chen, please tell mommy to visit Yutong. ]

" Did Yuxuan really send this to you? " Jiang Xiuying hoarse voice sounded barely a whisper. She searched Lu Beichen face for an answer but found none.

He ignored her question and instead put his phone back in his pocket. " I'm sure Dr. Yukira must have told you something. It's up to you if you are ready to let go of the past and embrace the present " Lu Beichen told her with a smile and walked away. He had given her the little push she needed by lying about the message Yuxuan said. It's up to her if she visits Yutong.

Tears flowed freely out of Jiang Xiuying's eyes. She just sat down there looking like an emotionless toy.

" Forget the past and embrace the present? " Jiang Xiuying laughed without mirth. That saying was only meant for the people who didn't have memories to hold on to.

Why forget about the past when you can cherish it as a part of you?

Jiang Xiuying stood up and wiped her tearstained eyes with the back of her hand. She walked to the front of the ward that had ' Yutong ' written on the door as the occupant of the room. She placed her hand on the door knob...
