Chapter 2

Aвтор: Luna Scipio
I looked at Logan Gilbert, who was tugging at his tie, clearly uncomfortable.

Feeling a twinge of guilt, I stepped forward to loosen it for him, noticing the red marks around his neck.

Logan stammered, "Th-thank you…"

He kept scratching at his neck, and I wondered if he might be allergic to alcohol.

"Are you… okay?"

With watery eyes, he met my gaze. "Yeah, I'm fine… Just a bit itchy."

His innocent look only made me feel more guilty. I couldn't take it anymore.

I grabbed Logan's hand and led him outside. "I'll get you some medicine."

I didn't want to go back to the Gilberts' place and risk running into Norris, so I checked into a hotel room nearby.

Logan couldn't handle his alcohol, and after just one drink, he was already swaying. Fortunately, some staff helped me get him into the room.

Before I could get him the medicine, he threw up all over himself.

"Wait! Don't puke!"

But Logan wasn't listening. He emptied his stomach all over me.

I sighed and changed into a robe, then stripped Logan of his clothes, wrapping him in the blanket.

After giving him the medicine, I fell asleep on the couch.

The next morning, I had to wake him up.

"Wake up. It's time to check out."

Logan blinked, looking at himself and then at me. His face turned bright red, like a shy little girl.

Seeing him like that made me want to tease him. "What's the matter? You're not still a virgin, are you?"

He awkwardly nodded, and I froze, immediately stopping my teasing.

"Uh... I've got some things to take care of. There's a hundred bucks on the nightstand."

Without saying another word, I rushed out of the room.

I was terrified. I thought I might be responsible for something.

After being betrayed, Cheryl took me out to distract me, showing me around different shops.

While I was trying on shoes in one store, I heard a sweet, sickly voice behind me.

"Norris, I want these."

I instantly recognized that voice—Jasmine. She was pointing at the shoes I was trying on.

Norris had his arm around her waist, teasing her nose before turning to the saleswoman.

"Wrap these up for me. I'll take them."

I couldn't help but scoff. "Jasmine, are you obsessed with taking things that belong to others? Now you're stealing shoes off my feet?"

Jasmine teared up as she leaned into Norris. "Norris, did you hear what she said?"

She even threw a challenge my way with a sly look.

Norris pulled out a VIP card and, with a smug grin, said, "I'm a VIP at your place. Surely, you'll make an exception for me."

I stared at the card, lost in thought. Norris had it because of me.

Back then, he'd happily accompany me on shopping trips. Seeing how much I bought, he'd gotten the VIP card under his name. He always said spending money on me was something he loved doing.

But now, that same card was being used for someone else.

I quickly looked down, trying to hide the tears welling up in my eyes.

Jasmine urged me to take off the shoes. As I started to, a voice interrupted from the entrance.

"I'll buy those shoes for you, Ms. Sullivan."

The saleswoman immediately took his card with respect and began processing the purchase.

I turned to see who it was—Logan.

What was he doing here?

He gave me a crooked smile and, without a word, kneeled down in front of me, carefully fastening the buckles on my shoes.

"All done. You can stand up now."

I stood up, linking my arm with Logan's.

Norris fumed. "Rosalind, you're really a piece of work. Now you're hooking up with my brother?"

I stared him down. I couldn't believe he cheated on me and still had the nerve to act all holier-than-thou in front of me.

Jasmine chimed in, "You're pretending to be all pure, but look at you. You'll take anyone, won't you?"

I released Logan's arm and marched over to Jasmine, slapping her across the face. "Never seen someone pick up someone else's trash and flaunt it around."

Then I took Logan's arm again and leaned my head on his shoulder, speaking casually, "By the way, Jasmine, I still haven't canceled my engagement with the Gilberts. You'd better treat me well. Who knows? Maybe you'll have to get my blessing to marry Norris."

Norris was speechless.

Meanwhile, I glanced at Logan, who was clearly blushing.

I didn't bother with them anymore. Grabbing Logan's hand, I led him out of the store.

Once we were out of their sight, I let go of his hand. "Thanks for earlier. How much were the shoes? I'll transfer the money to you." Logan, however, fixed his gaze on me, as if he were trying to see straight into my soul. Without a word, he tightened his grip on my hand. "Rosalind, your engagement with the Gilberts hasn't been annulled, so…" "So what?" I took the lead, backing him against the wall, my voice low and teasing as I leaned closer to his ear. "What is it you want to say?" His face flushed bright red. He shoved me away, stammering, "I-I just think it wouldn't be so bad if we get married." This six-foot-tall man, now fidgeting with his hands like a shy schoolboy, made me chuckle. I slid a room key card into his hand. "Come find me at 8:00 PM tonight." A woman handing a man a room key—there was no need to spell out what that implied. As the clock on the wall ticked closer to 8:00 PM, I couldn't help but wonder what Logan would choose. The doorbell

The next day, Logan and I sat down to breakfast at the table. Norris was there too. I picked up some egg, gently feeding it to Logan. "Honey, open up. This is really delicious." Logan obediently opened his mouth and ate it. Norris couldn't stand it any longer. He threw his utensils down and got up to leave. His parents shot him a disapproving look. "Why are you throwing a tantrum? Where are your manners?" When I had been dating Norris, he would always say his parents were too busy to meet, so I had never had the chance to meet them. Even now, his parents didn't know I was his ex-girlfriend. I sighed and put on a sympathetic expression. "Oh, he might not be happy with the food." My attempt to smooth things over only made things worse. Norris ended up getting a good scolding from his parents. "You're unbelievable. You never take care of business, and now you're throwing a fit at the family? We're cutting off your credit cards for the month." Norris glared at

Logan brushed my hand aside, his eyes red and filled with frustration. "Rosalind, you can play with my body all you want, but I don't want you doing it because of another man. I just wish you'd..." He paused, struggling to find the right words. Finally, he mumbled, "I just wish you'd want me for me." It hit me then—Logan seemed to have fallen for me. But why? His world wasn't short of women. Why me, of all people? Was it because he thought I had taken his virginity? "Why me? What makes me so special?" I asked, genuinely curious. His lips quivered, as if he were trying to muster courage. Then he said softly, "Rosalind, I've loved you for a long time... far before that night." I raised a hand to stop him, feeling a pang of guilt. "Logan, let me come clean.
