Ryder

I shifted into my human form as I reached the house of Alpha Orion. The lights were still on and I started up the stairs. A shadow emerged from behind the wall and walked towards me. I squinted my eyes, bracing myself for any attack from Lucas.

“Alpha Ryder,” Dennis called softly. I sighed and relaxed my shoulder. But my nose caught the awful scent of a Nightshade wolf. A Nightshade wolf was still on the premises. Or it might just be Lucas’ stench.

“He just left,” Dennis informed me, seeing the frown on my face. “I called you as quickly as I saw him walk up to the door.”

“You did good, Dennis,” I replied, my eyes still scanning the environment. “Did he leave alone?”

“Yes, he did. He was clearly upset when he walked out. And I couldn't see much from my spot.”

“Thank you, Dennis. You can leave. Have someone from the pack house come over and take your spot. I'll stay until they arrive.”
