Bas POV

The next morning, I woke up to the soft light of the sun filtering through my curtains. I turned and saw her there, sleeping so peacefully. There was something marvelous about her face, something that drew me in every time. Watching her was a pleasure I could indulge in over and over again.

Her eyes fluttered open, and a smile spread across her face. "You should be sleeping, not staring," she said in a low whisper.

"You really can't blame me," I replied, my voice just as soft. "When you look like this, it's impossible to stop staring." I watched as a blush spread across her cheeks, making her even more beautiful.

"I should get up," she began, starting to rise from the bed. But I pulled her closer, wrapping my arms around her and burying my face in her chest. Her warmth and the soft rhythm of her heartbeat were too comforting to let go.

She chuckled, her laugh light and musical. "Bas, we've been in bed for quite some time."

"Stay with me a little longer," I murmured. I could ne

Bas POV"Hello, do you mind if I come in?" Becca's mom asked, standing at the threshold."Sorry," I stammered, stepping aside to let her in. I was so stunned I hadn't realized I had frozen."You just missed her," I added, trying to regain my composure, my voice wavering slightly."I'm not here to see Becca," she replied firmly, her eyes never leaving mine."Oh... um, let me get some drinks," I said, heading toward the kitchen, desperate for a distraction."No, I'm fine," she said, stopping me in my tracks with a raised hand."I'm just going to go straight to the point. What are your intentions with my daughter?" she asked, her gaze piercing through me like a laser. Her exterior was strong, but the rapid rise and fall of her chest betrayed her fear."I love your daughter," I said earnestly, my voice steady. "And I know you might think otherwise, but I swear I would protect her with my life.""That's the problem," she sighed, her shoulders slumping as if the weight of the world was upon

Bas POV"I wasn't expecting you at this hour," my dad said, his eyes scanning my outfit and the bag in my hand. After leaving Becca, I headed straight to the pack house. There was something important I needed to discuss with him."I moved out ," I stated bluntly. He raised an eyebrow, studying me for a moment before nodding. "You're always welcome to stay in the pack house.""I'm not staying here," I replied firmly. The thought of being under the same roof as him filled me with a sense of unease. I feared that staying here would only fuel the resentment I held towards him, possibly leading to actions I'd regret."Okay, you can choose wherever you want to live. It's your decision," he conceded."I'm not going to waste your time. I'll get straight to the point. I can't be around her, and I've decided to leave town," I explained. He nodded, showing little concern for my departure. "As long as nothing interferes with the prophecy, I don't have a problem with you leaving.""That won't be a

Becca's POV4 years later"Try this," Lola said, holding up a bright yellow dress with a sparkle in her eyes."Lola, it's your wedding, not mine," I replied, scoffing as I reached for the dress."Duh! And that's why my best friend, who is also my chief bridesmaid, has to look drop-dead gorgeous," she said with a grin."Maybe even meet a decent guy," she added with a wink, handing me the gown. It had been three years since I last heard from Bas. In those years, Lola, my beautiful, persistent friend, had done everything in her power to set me up with various guys. But it seemed like the universe disagreed with her efforts, because every guy she brought into my life had some weird quirk."As much as I love you, I swore never to go on a blind date with any of your guy friends again," I said, slipping into the changing room to put on the dress."C'mon, Chad wasn't that bad," she protested from outside."Lola, he literally picked his nose and then tried to feed me with the same hand," I shu

Becca's POV"Walk with me," Darius said, gesturing for me to follow as we moved down the hallway. We stopped at a large window overlooking the field, where werewolves gathered in groups, some talking, children playing, and young adults training. I glanced at Darius, noticing a rare emotion in his eyes as he watched his pack. It was a softness I rarely saw, almost... pride? "We would never have come this far after the sudden illness," he said, not looking at me but at the bustling scene below."But you helped us, and I am forever grateful," he said, finally turning to look at me. Moments like this made me question if there was a good side to Darius. Yet, I couldn't forget the terrible things he had done. He was a monster, driven by selfishness, willing to sacrifice anything or anyone to get his way.I smiled. "How could I stand by and watch innocent children die when I knew I could help?" "We are here today because of you. It will be recorded in history, your kindness," he said.I n

Becca's POV"Bas," I murmured as I jolted upright. Ugh, my head was pounding like a drum. I groaned, pressing my palms to my temples in a vain attempt to ease the pain."Oh great, you're awake," Lola said, walking in with a cup in her hand. Her cheerful tone was a stark contrast to how I felt."Here," she said, offering me the cup. "It might taste yucky, but I can assure you it's the best hangover cure."I took the cup from her, the smell hitting me so hard I almost gagged. "What is this?" I asked, my nose wrinkling. "It's best you don't know, just drink up," she said with a knowing smile. I glanced at the cup and then at her. If it wasn't the pounding sensation in my head, I would never have touched this drink.Slowly, I took a sip. The bitterness hit me immediately, but I forced myself to swallow."Ugh," I groaned, grimacing."Quite a night," Lola said as she sat on the edge of the bed, watching me with a mix of concern and amusement. "Do you remember what happened?"I closed my eye

Bas POVI shouldn’t be here, not now. I couldn’t afford to see her. After many years apart, I still longed for her, and that’s why I found myself in the bar. If I could only get a glimpse of her then, I’ll leave.I walked into the bar, the loud music filling the room with a throbbing beat. People were chattering, dancing, and drinking, creating a clamor of sound that seemed to fade into the background as I scanned the room. My eyes searched for her and only her.As always, she looked breath taking. I clenched my hands, trying my best not to walk over to where she sat and embrace her.And there she was, sitting alone at the bar.As always, she looked breathtaking. Her brown hair was pulled back into a ponytail with two strands that fell to her face, framing it perfectly. Her eyes were focused on the drink she held, lost in thought. I wanted to walk over to where she was, pull her into a hug, and tell her how much I missed her, but I knew I couldn’t. I clenched my hands tightly, feeling

"The poison won't kill you," I said, my voice steady. "It's just going to make you forever weak. This is your punishment for all the sins you've committed."I turned to leave but stopped in my tracks. No matter how monstrous he was, he was still my father, and I couldn't bring myself to kill him. "Get out of here and never come back. I'll tell the pack I flung your body deep in the sea."This was my last act of kindness, not for the defeated Alpha, but for my father.Suddenly, Darius burst into laughter, the sound echoing through the forest. I turned to look at him. "Oh, as always, you're so weak, boy," he said, managing to get up and resting against a tree. "Do you really think I'll just remain quiet and watch as you jeopardize everything I've worked for? I'll come for you."I turned away, not wanting to see him in this state. He was al
