*Kelilah's POV*
My screams echoed through the night, attracting a small crowd of neighbors. Soon, the area was swarmed with curious onlookers, and then a police squad arrived, their flashlights illuminating the trail of blood stretching further down the road—a detail I hadn’t noticed in my panic.
Morgana, my elderly neighbor who once served as a palace cook, approached and wrapped me in a thick blanket, her comforting presence grounding me in the chaos. Before long, a police officer approached.
"I need a word with you, ma'am," he said, his tone gentle but firm. I tried to stand, but Morgana held me back, protesting, "She’s in shock, sir. Can’t you see?"
The officer held his ground politely. "It’ll be brief, ma’am. Just a few questions." I reassured Morgana with a nod, whispering, "It’s alright. Maybe I can help."
The officer led me to a quieter corner. As I tightened the blanket around my shoulders, he opened his notepad, ready to listen. "I know this must be overwhelming," he said kindly. "But could you tell us what happened?"
I took a shaky breath. "This is an old apartment of mine. I came here for some peace and took a nap in the early evening. When I woke up, I ordered some pizza, and as I was eating, I heard a noise outside—at first, I thought it was someone knocking, so I ignored it."
He nodded, jotting down my words. "Why did you visit your old apartment after so long, and why did you ignore the knock? Was there someone you wanted to avoid?"
I hesitated, then admitted, "My ex. I recently found out he was seeing someone else, so I ended things. He wasn’t taking it well, so I thought he’d come to talk. But then I heard a scream, louder this time. That’s when I called the police. Through the window, I saw a car driving away, and when I went outside, I saw the blood."
The officer scribbled something on his notepad. "Did you catch the license plate?"
"No," I replied, frustrated. "It was dark, and I didn’t realize anything was wrong until I saw the blood."
"Any cameras in the area?" he asked.
"Not that I know of, but the estate management might have information on that."
He nodded, writing it down. "We’ll get in touch with them." Turning to another officer, he instructed, "Kyle, check the door for any prints or blood. She mentioned a noise."
As I watched a tall officer named Kyle move toward my door, a haunting thought hit me. "Did...did someone get hurt?"
The officer with the notepad replied cautiously. "We’re not sure yet. There’s no body, so it could be someone trying to scare you."
"Scare me? But why?" I asked, feeling a mix of fear and confusion.
He held my gaze. "We’re not certain, ma’am. But here’s my number. If anything unusual happens, call me. And for your safety, I’d advise you not to stay alone tonight."
A chill ran down my spine. "Is there something you’re not telling me?"
"Just a precaution," he said, avoiding my question. "We’ve gathered what we need. We’ll clean up here and let you know if we find anything." And with that, he began walking away.
"Are you leaving just like that?" I called after him, but he didn’t look back. While the man Kyle of a guy, passed me by, but not without send a glare my way.
I watched them leave, a sinking feeling settling in my stomach. I felt like they weren’t telling me everything.
As the officers departed, I couldn’t shake the unsettling feeling that they knew more than they were sharing. Morgana’s soft voice broke into my thoughts.
"Are you alright, dear?"
I tried to give her a reassuring smile. "Yes, thank you. You should get some rest—it’s late."
She hesitated, her gaze filled with concern. "Are you sure, Princess? I don’t mind staying."
"Yes, please go. I’ll head back to the palace tomorrow." Her presence had been a comfort, but I didn’t want to trouble her further.
After a final, gentle kiss on my cheek, Morgana returned to her home. I went inside, bolting the door behind me. The officer’s words lingered in my mind, and the thought of leaving in the middle of the night seemed reckless. What if whoever left that blood was still lurking nearby?
I considered calling Tyra but decided against it. She’d be asleep by now, and I didn’t want to alarm her. Instead, I stayed up with the lights on, mindlessly watching movies until I finally drifted off to sleep.
The next morning, my phone’s ring jolted me awake. Groggy, I picked up. "Hello?"
"How’s my favorite troublemaker?" Tyra’s voice chirped on the other end.
I chuckled, grateful for her humor. "Good morning, Tyra. The ‘troublemaker’ is alive and well."
"Glad to hear it! See you at work? I have tons of gossip to share."
"Sure." I replied with a chuckle as I hung up, placed my phone on the couch, and got ready for the day.
Once I was ready, I drove to the office, but the journey felt unusually tense. As I stepped out of my car, someone bumped into me, causing my bag to fall. The person didn’t even stop to apologize, striding away in a tailored black suit.
"Rude," I muttered, picking up my things. As I glanced up, I spotted another man in a similar suit leaning against the wall—and further down, another. A sinking feeling twisted in my gut.
Was I being followed? Did this have anything to do with last night? Trying to shake off the unease, I hurried inside, stealing one last glance over my shoulder. Through the one-way glass of the office, I watched as one of the men stationed himself outside, staring intently at the building. He couldn’t see me, yet somehow, it felt like he could.
"Who on earth are these men?" I murmured to myself, shaken from my thoughts when my boss's voice snapped through the office.
"Late again, Kelilah," he said, his tone dripping with disdain.
I quickly shifted my gaze from the window to him, standing from my desk. "Good morning, Sir," I stammered, bracing myself.
He barely acknowledged my greeting, throwing me a disapproving glare before walking away. As a princess, it was a choice of mine to work and get paid. Although i was working for an influential company, and their pay was high, it was still difficult dealing with sir Mateo as my boss. It seems like he doesn't like me one bit, perhaps because he dislikes my late coming. But what could I do? I was more like a part of me already. Besides no one here knows that I was a princess, because I had chosen to work at another distant kingdom, and wouldn't let my guards follow me around. It was just my driver, who I ensured stares inside the car till I was ready to go back home.
Finally closed for the day, I drove back to the palace, not even having a second thought of returning to my old apartment. Besides, I was never going to tell anyone what had happened to me. And for the strangers following me, I was certain that they wouldn't be able to monitor my movement in the palace, because the palace was heavily guided with so many guards and warriors.
The day passed uneventfully, and as soon as I clocked out, I headed straight for the palace. I had no intention of returning to my old apartment—not after last night. Besides, I was never going to tell anyone what had happened to me. And for the strangers following me, I was certain that they wouldn't be able to monitor my movement in the palace, because the palace was heavily guided with so many guards and warriors.
**KELILAH’S POV**Another day, another frantic dash to escape the morning chaos. My routine was, as always, far from graceful."Shit. Shit," I muttered, grabbing my bag only to realize I was still barefoot. Dropping it, I dashed back inside, hunting down my shoes and hastily jamming my feet into them as I returned to retrieve my bag from where I'd left it."Be careful, Princess!" some of the maids called as I misjudged a corner and smacked my foot against a chair."Ow! Damn it!" I hissed, biting back another curse. Just as I staggered back to balance, Loveth's amused voice floated over from the dining room, "You might want to slow down before you break something, Kelilah.""I'm late! It's gonna be hell," I replied, racing toward the door.“Don’t forget to call Faith. She came by looking for you yesterday!” Loveth reminded me as I shut the door behind me. Faith. Damn, I’d forgotten her. Again, even though Loveth had informed me yesterday that she came looking for meWell, for now, I
KELILAH’S POVI reached into my bag and dialed Faith’s number. She picked up on the first ring.“I’ve been waiting for your call”, she said.“I’m sorry. I had a lot to do and there was no time”“I’m upset with you” “And I’m sorry babe. Let’s do for dinner?” , I suggested.“Where ever you wish. Bills on me” “Okay, fine. I will text you the venue. Bye”, she said.“Bye”. I said with a smile as she hung the call. With that call done, I decided to reach out to Loveth. I dialed her number, but she didn’t pick up. I tried again—still nothing. She must be swamped at work, maybe too busy to check her phone.Tucking my phone back into my bag, I decided to drop by Nathan’s place. Loveth’s situation weighed on me, and I was determined to do something to help her. When I arrived, I found the front door locked. Nathan must still be at the office, I thought, turning back and heading there instead. When I arrived at the office, Miranda, his wife, was standing at the door.“Princess...?” she greete
Kelilah's POV**I woke up early, feeling surprisingly energized. After getting ready, I found myself with an extra thirty minutes before work officially began. It was the perfect opportunity to check on Loveth, so I made my way to her room.“Loveth?” I knocked gently, but there was no immediate response."Coming!" Her voice rang out, steadier than before, which was a relief. She opened the door, and I stepped inside.“You didn’t answer yesterday. Are you okay?” I asked, my voice caught between concern and a hint of reproach.“I’m sorry, Kelilah. I just... we only have one month left until they come for me,” she said, her eyes reflecting a mixture of fear and resignation.“Loveth, stop talking like that. I’m going to see Nathan today.”She took my hands in hers, squeezing tightly. “Promise me, Spare. Promise you’ll get me out of this.”“I promise.” I squeezed back, trying to give her the strength she needed.Just before we could get to emotional, my phone rang and I reached into my bag
KELILAH'S POVHere I was, standing before a towering shopping mall, all because of Faith.“So, what are you planning to get?” she asked, eyes twinkling with mischief.“I don’t know. Just something… practical?” I replied, shrugging.“Oh, don’t be a bore, Kelilah. How about we buy something sexy?”I shot her a wary glance. “Faith, this isn’t a club night. Besides, you know Loveth wouldn’t wear anything revealing.”Her idea of “sexy” usually meant tiny, barely-there clothes. “Alright, alright,” she said, grinning. “How about something classy yet… alluring?”I snapped my eyes at her for the second time, and she sent a gigglish laughter my way “Come on. Just this one's, okay?”, she pleaded.I want to insist on my stand, but faith was just the kind of person I couldn't bring myself to say no to."Whatever" I grumbled, letting out a defeated sigh. Before I knew it, she had pulled me toward the clothing section, shoving a dress into my hands. "Try this" She said as she thrust the clothes
Kelilah's POVThe morning light streamed through my window as I woke up to an empty bed, the silence gnawing at me. I glanced at the clock—damn, I was going to be late. “Loveth!” I called out, but no response came. A knot of worry tightened in my stomach, but I brushed it off. She’d probably just left early.Hurriedly, I got dressed and rushed downstairs, still pulling on my shoes. “Mom, have you seen Loveth?”She looked up, shrugging. “Haven’t seen her this morning. She might have gone out early.”“Okay, I’m running late. I’ll check in with her later!” I bolted out of the door, making it to work with just two minutes to spare. At my desk, Betty greeted me with a broad smile.“Lovely day off?” she asked.I nodded, sighing. “I’d love a week off.”She chuckled. “Take what you can get.”Settling in, I rubbed at my temples; a dull ache was already forming, threatening to pull me under. I pulled out my left over work and started working silently, still try to focus. Until suddenly, I
KELILAH'S POV“You’re speaking nonsense, Mom. Loveth would never do that,” I said, shaking my head as disbelief settled in.“I’m serious, Kelilah. She even left a note,” Mom replied, pointing to a small slip of paper on the bed. Despite her insistence, I refused to look at it. Loveth wouldn’t just vanish like that. If she were planning something, she would have told me. I had even brought up the idea last night, but she hadn’t seemed interested. So why would she suddenly go through with it?“No!” I cried, rushing out of the house with my phone in hand, dialing her number repeatedly. Each attempt met the same response—her phone wasn’t connecting. Frustration overwhelmed me as I stood outside her office building, hoping that in any second she’d appear. Hours slipped by, and the silence of my long wait grew heavy. Desperation took over, and I started calling her friends, voice shaky as I choked back tears. I was already a weeping mess."Hello. Tyra, how are you doing" I asked as I wipe
Kelilah’s POVDays had slipped through my fingers, and my vow to locate Loveth remained a haunting failure. With each passing sunrise, the reality of my predicament pressed down on me: only a few weeks remained before the kingdom of Bazil would come to claim their bride. And Loveth was still missing. The gnawing fear that I’d be forced into the marriage as her replacement settled heavily on me.Now I understood why I was always the "spare."The weight of this arranged marriage bore down on me like a boulder, unrelenting and cold. I needed an escape plan—something, anything, to release me from this fate. Tyra came to mind. She’d always been my fiercest ally, and if anyone could help me devise a way out, it would be her.I met her that evening, spilling my thoughts as she listened. But before I could fully explain, my phone buzzed insistently in my bag. I glanced down and saw Jackson’s name glaring back at me.“It’s Jackson,” I murmured, half to myself.Tyra rolled her eyes, her express
KELILAH'S POV I groaned, my head pounding as I slowly opened my eyes. I was lying on a familiar couch, the soft glow of early morning sunlight filtering through the curtains. Blinking to clear the fog from my vision, I realized I was back in Tyra’s house. Confusion filled me, but before I could gather my thoughts, I saw Tyra standing nearby, my face tight with worry.“How are you feeling?” Tyra asked softly, stepping closer.I forced myself to sit up, my body still heavy and sore. “What... what happened?” I asked, my voice barely a whisper.Tyra took a deep breath, her gaze steady but laced with concern. “I’m sorry, Kelilah. I had to knock you out. It was the only way I could get you out of there safely.”My eyes widened. “Why? What were you even doing there?”Tyra sat beside me, her expression growing serious. “On my way back home, I saw a group of men. They had your picture in hand, Kelilah. LOVETH'S POVMy body trembled uncontrollably, fear rippling through me under the weight of his cold, unrelenting glare. His eyes burned with such hatred that I wished I could vanish, dissolve into nothingness, and escape his wrath. But wishes were futile here, and the terror in his voice pinned me in place."Are you ready to talk now?" His tone was devoid of any warmth, a frozen blade slicing through the air."I..." My voice cracked, barely a whisper, betraying the turmoil inside me.I wanted to plead my case, to find the words that might shield me, but his stare was suffocating. His presence loomed large as he rose from his chair, and instinctively, I stepped back, colliding with the quard stationed behind me. The guard’s grip tightened painfully on my arm, and I gasped, wincing. The alpha growled-a low, menacing Sound that sent a chill through the room. The guard's hand immediately released me as if burned. Was the growl meant for me or the guard? I couldn't be sure, but it didn't m
Loveth’s POVA low groan escaped my lips as I stirred, my body heavy with exhaustion. Stretching my limbs, I expected the soft comfort of a bed beneath me, but my hand scraped against a rough, unyielding stone. My eyes flew open. I was back in the cell, my reality stark and unforgiving. The faint, soothing sound of a song reached my ears. I turned my head to see the girl in the corner, her voice hauntingly beautiful as it echoed off the cold walls. For a moment, I wondered if everything I had experienced—the whipping, the bandages, the fleeting comfort of a bed—had been a cruel dream. But no, I remembered too much. Every lash, every moment of terror, was etched vividly in my mind. My imagination wasn’t that cruel.I wondered how many days I have spent here. Three? No, it felt like forever. What was Kelilah doing and would she be able to find me? Were they even searching for me? Do they even know that I have been abducted, instead of the assumption of running away?I forced myself to s
SANDRINO’S POVI brushed a stray lock of hair from her face, my fingers trembling against my will. She was breathtaking—fragile yet alluring in a way I couldn’t quite articulate. Her scent was intoxicating, igniting something primal deep within me. My wolf stirred, restless, urging me to shift and claim her, but I fought it. I always had control. Always. The door creaked open, breaking the spell. I pulled away sharply as Nathan entered, his usual unreadable expression in place. He glanced at her battered form with clinical detachment, which I appreciated. I wasn’t in the mood for his unsolicited commentary.“Her pulse is weak,” he said flatly. “And she’s pale. Too pale.”A growl rumbled in my throat. “Then fix it. That’s why I called for you.”Nathan’s gaze didn’t waver. “There’s not much I can do. The injuries are severe. She’s lost too much blood. If I’m being honest, Alpha, she might not make it through the night.”His words hit me like a blow, but I masked my reaction with fury. “D
LOVETH'S POVI bolted for the door, but he was faster. Before I could reach it, his hands closed around me, yanking me back toward the center of the room with an iron grip."You made her suffer" he said, circling me with cold fury.A loud clang echoed as a chain dropped from the ceiling. Panic flooded my veins, but when I tried to pull free, he slapped me across the face with a vicious precision that sent me to the floor, stinging pain radiating from my cheek. I could already feel a bruise forming. He hauled me up roughly, clamped the cuffs onto the chain, and raised me until my toes barely scraped the ground."I'm giving you a chance to talk. Tell me where her body is, and this ends now." His voice was sharp, deadly."I don't know" I choked out, my voice breaking as the tears fell. But my words seemed to mean nothing. I didn't even know who this woman was, let alone what had happened to her. Yet his face remained impassive, as if my suffering was some necessary ritual."You won't en
LOVETH'S POV "You...what?...How?...Why?" The questions stuck in my throat, twisted and tangled, refusing to form.He yanked me up by my arms, snapping metal cuffs around my wrists. His grip was unyielding, dragging me forward, every step scraping my feet against the rough floor. My heart hammered. I don't really know what Kyle was doing here. And it's not as if I had any business with him. I have only seen him along with some inspectors whenever they pay a visit to the palace. So what was he doing to me?.Through the murky shadows, the only thing I could make out were rows of silver bars. "Where are you taking me?" I screamed, my voice cracking as tears traced down my cheeks. But he ignored me, his face a mask of indifference as he led me up a rickety staircase. He pushed open a narrow hatch above us, revealing an opulent house bathed in light, its grandeur stark against the darkness we'd come from.Without hesitation, he dragged me up another flight of stairs and shoved open a doo
LOVETH'S POVI was terrified to make a sound, so I remained silent, listening intently until the footsteps faded. Only then did I let out a small, shaky breath. The ceiling above me started to tremble, and the light bulb hanging from it began to swing violently, casting erratic shadows across the cell. A loud crash of metal reverberated through the room, followed by a woman's bone-chilling scream, slicing through the silence and filling me with dread. Then came the sound of laughter—deep, twisted, and dripping with sadism. The relentless noise frayed my nerves until I couldn’t bear it any longer. In frustration, I rose to my feet and began shouting."Let me out!" I yelled, rattling the bars with all my strength, but they were solid, unyielding."Don't waste your energy," came a voice from behind me, calm and unsettling.I whipped around, my gaze falling on a girl crouched in the corner. She was casually inspecting her fingernails as if this was all perfectly normal."Even if someone h
