Chapter 4

Mandy jumped, feeling embarrassed. She quickly stood up because of the knock on the door.

Who could it be, she thought. Mandy was ashamed to admit within her that whoever was at the door should have waited for one more minutes before coming!

"I'll be there in a second!" Mandy said to whoever was at the door. She had to put herself together. She was surprised at herself. She didn't know herself anymore, when Bosey grabbed her by the neck to intensify the kiss.

Mandy couldn't help but notice Bosey sitting on the chair like someone who was lost in thought.

"Bosey! Bosey! hey, come back to reality, someone is at the door. Bosey was also surprised by Mandy's kiss, he quickly came to, stood up quickly as if he just realised that someone who was knocking on the door .

"Who could it be, Mandy said to Bosey".

Mandy headed to the door, opened it and found a ranch hand at the door.

"Your attention is needed at the farm ma'am",the ranch hand said to Mandy.

" I'll be there in a few minutes, you can go back to work" she replied the ranch hand.

Mandy was doing all she could to make sure the ranch hand didn't notice Bosey's presence.

The last thing Mandy wanted was putting Bosey in a tight corner, with gossip of their affair. There and then Mandy vowed to keep her relationship with Bosey a secret, until he decides to make it public. She turned to Bosey.

"Wait a second" Mandy thought to herself, "are we in a relationship already?.

Mandy can't remember Bosey asking her out, but she knew their feelings were mutual.

Bosey still couldn't process what had happened between him and Mandy. But he is sure of one thing and one thing only, his heart was beating for her. She had his heart.  he was and is crazily in love with her. This realisation didn't come as a shock to him because he always had feelings for her, but what he didn't know was that she was the love of his life.

How could this single encounter with Mandy leave him with such feelings, Bosey was yet to understand that.

Mandy had gone to the farm to find out what they needed her for. She met with Frank, the vice president of the farm who had just arrived.

"Where have you been all this while" Mandy asked Frank.

"There was an emergency, I had to leave" Frank replied Mandy.

"Did you know, that there was a more pressing emergency here at the farm?

"The bank officials were here Frank!

Mandy screamed at the top of her voice, releasing all the anger that was building up since the officials left, on Frank.

"Fine, I apologize for not being here when the bank officials came" Frank said to Mandy.

Frank had no option than to apologize, but Mandy ignored his apologies as she could see he didn't mean it.

Frank had always been like a son to the chairman when he was alive, so he considered himself Mandy's family, but Mandy could always see through him. The greed written all over his face. Frank was always looking at her, and wishing he was the chairman's real son, the jealousy.

Mandy always wondered why her father couldn't see Frank for who he really was, but she isn't ready to let him walk all over her just because she is a female, over my dead body will I let him do that, never! Mandy thought to herself.

Mandy took inventory of the farm produce, she signed all documents that needed her attention. She was sitting behind her desk in her office, about to stand when Bosey knocked on her door.

"Please come in" Mandy said to Bosey.

"Sorry I had to leave immediately, I hope you were not upset I left suddenly" Mandy said, going through some papers on her desk.

Bosey didn't know what to say. he mesmerises him with everything she does. How can she apologize for doing the right thing.

"I understand perfectly and I should go back to work. Since you didn't come back to the mansion, I left. I just thought to  check on you" Bosey said to Mandy.

Mandy lifting her face from the paperwork she was looking at, looked straight to Bosey and said...;

" Thank you Bosey, for being with me at my most difficult time. I don't take it for granted at all. You can go back to work now" she said.

Bosey smiled at Mandy, then left her office to the farm.

Mandy was stressed from all the yelling and face off with Frank and needed some time alone. She headed to the stables, because her horse makes her happy and eases her stress.

She walked to the stable, and was standing in front of her horse, Crisy.

"Hello Crisy, did you miss me, she said, stroking her hea

Mandy spoke to her horse like she speaks to every other person. She has had Crisy since she was a little girl. It was a birthday gift from her father when she turned twelve.

Crisy was like family to Mandy. At least Crisy didn't abandon her like her uncles and aunts did. They must have heard the ranch was struggling and decided to keep away from her, but Mandy didn't care. All she cared about was making sure the farm survived.

Mandy prepared the sadle to ride Crisy. While preparing the sadle, something caught her eye, she could see Frank wispering to a farm hand, turning suspiciously to be sure no one was eavesdropping. Mandy ignored what she saw and didn't think much of it. She hopped on Crisy and off they went.

Mandy didn't dwell so much about Frank but there was a feeling she couldn't ignore, a feeling that Frank was going to do something that might affect the farm. She immediately shook the feeling off, rode Crisy without thinking of anything and then brought Crisy back to the stable.

Mandy met Bosey cleaning and feeding some horses in the stable.

"I didn't know you could ride a horse so well" Bosey said to Mandy.

I have lived on this ranch all my life Bosey, so won't it be weird if I told you I couldn't ride a horse? They both laughed it off, but Bosey could see worry written all over Mandy's face. He couldn't let that go.

"Is everything okay? Bosey asked Mandy.

"Yes, everything is fine" Mandy said to Bosey but he wasn't buying that.

"What is it Mandy, I know something is bothering you"

"Okay fine, you got me" Mandy said

" It might be nothing. I may just be worrying for nothing but I get this feeling Frank is planning something. I don't have evidence or something but I can't shake this feeling off"

"But Frank has always been like a son to the chairman, almost like his right hand man" Bosey said to Mandy.

"I know that, but I have always seen him as cunning and deceitful, I have never trusted him for once. I have no idea what my father saw in him" she said.

"Just relax Mandy, it could be nothing and you may just be working yourself up" Bosey said to Mandy.

"Alright, I will let it go then"

Bosey washed and dried his hand as he spoke with Mandy. He was now facing her.

Mandy turned, and was about to leave the stable when Bosey held her hand, kissed her palm, drew her closer,  then kissed her forehead, her nose and finally her soft succulent lips. She didn't resist, and Bosey continued.

Mandy reciprocated, but at some point drew back and became worried if someone would see them. She didn't care anymore, so she kissed Bosey back, passionately. As their kiss was getting serious, Frank walked in on them, Mandy froze.

Why did it have to be Frank at this very moment, Mandy wished it was someone else but Frank. He could use this against her at some point.

"Mandy, so this is what you do with your employee during work hours, huh" Frank said sarcastically.

"It's none of your business Frank. I am an adult and so I can do whatever i want, so stay out of my relationship" Mandy fired back at Frank.

Frank stared at Bosey with disdain and scorn.

Mandy had to dismiss Bosey immediately so as to de-escalate the situation and quench the tension.

Bosey left as Mandy instructed.

As Bosey walked back to the farm, he thought he shouldn't have left Mandy with Frank, as she has been hostile towards him, and also has reservations about him. But then Mandy can take care of herself, Bosey also thought to himself. After all she has known Frank for a long time than he does. Even though he believes Mandy could take care of herself, his mind wasn't at rest until he is sure she is safe.

"Frank, what was that look you gave to Bosey" Mandy asked.

Frank almost ignored her, turned to leave, but turned back to face Mandy.

"Do you think Bosey likes you for who you are, and not what you have? Wake up from your dream girl, he just wants a share of your father's properties and nothing else"

Frank scoffed at Mandy, then left.

Mandy didn't know what to make of what Frank had just said. That she was confused was an understatement.

Why will Frank say such a thing about Bosey. Why was he trying to plant a seed of doubt in her, Mandy thought to herself.

"No, I won't let Frank win, I know he is trying to make me as miserable as he is, but I won't give in "Mandys said aloud to herself.

Mandy knew how Frank's relationships has always hit the rocks because he couldn't trust his partners, he always accused them of being after his money and he was trying to make her feel same way.

Mandy went back to her office, and called for Bosey.

Bosey walked into her office, feeling relief that she was no longer with Frank and she was safe.

"Bosey there is something I want to ask you, please be truthful about it. My relationship with you depends on it......;
