The sound of the back door slamming shut got my attention. Because of my protective barrier I knew it wasn’t an enemy, but one of us, but I thought I better check who it was. I had my suspicions.
Mark marched towards me in an angry stance as I stepped into the living room. His breathing shallow, like he had been running and his muscles tensed. His face held a sour expression and if looks could kill, I would have been dead several times over by now.
“Why did you agree to it?” he yelled as he invaded my personal space and glared right into my eyes. His eyes were dilated and I could feel his breath on my face. I could have sworn that he was growling. If he’d had his ability to shift, he would have turned into a wolf and tried to rip me to pieces. Luckily for me, or him, depending on how you saw it, he couldn’t.
After Mark left, I looked over my research that Leaf somehow had sent over to this world. I wasn’t sure how, but a few days after I had arrived here, a box with my name had appeared in Jax’s living room. When I opened the box, everything I had worked on over the last years was there, including a note from Leah ‘I thought you may need this’.I opened my notebook and looked over my most recent notes. I had tried to figure out what type of spell they had been using to take the magic away from someone. But I didn’t have much to go on, so the progress was slow. In order to reverse a spell, you must first know how the spell was conducted. And talking to Abigail would help with that.I sat down at the table and started scribbling down all the questions I wanted to ask Abigail, questions that would help me understand that type of spell tha
I was thinking about where to take Cassie as I collected the ingredient that we needed for the spells. I could just take her to a fancy restaurant, but it didn’t feel like the right place. No, I wanted something that represented us both, somewhere where we could be alone. Suddenly I knew where I wanted to take her. It would be perfect. I paid for the ingredients and walked out of the shop, I had been in luck and they had everything that we needed. Before I went back to the house, I teleported to the mountain cliff near the woods. I wanted to make sure that it was safe and that the weather had not made it unpleasant. I conjured up some blankets and a fireplace. Cassie would like this place. The sun was just disappearing behind the trees, so by the time we got back here we would be able to watch the stars.I got back to the house and handed over the bag of
Mark’s snoring woke me up. I tried to get back to sleep, but I was too nervous about the day. I debated whether to wake Mark up, as I had promised to say goodbye to him before I left to see Abigail with Jax, but there were still a lot of preparations to be done.I got out of bed and got myself ready for the day. I wondered if they would sort out a shower with the extension. I think I had seen a spring nearby. I went out to the living room and went over all the ingredients I would need, together with an incarnation spell for the protection and the book containing the spell, before I left the cabin and made my way to Jax’s house.I walked into the living room. Everyone seemed to still be asleep. A large leather-bound book was lying on the table. Curiosity got the better of me and I went to see what it was about. I looked through the book, amazed
Relief hit me as Sky told me she felt fine. My muscles had been tense from worrying whether the protective spells would work. I didn’t want to become werewolf food.Nick had not seemed pleased to see us, and as me and Sky made our way into the living room, the reason occupied my thoughts. Had we interrupted him in the middle of something?“Who is this?” Nick’s detached voice brought me back to reality. He inspected Sky closely.“This is Sky, from the witch village.”“So she’s the reason my Cassie got taken.” He walked up to Sky, and Sky swallowed and looked up at him with a terrified expression.“No, She’s the reason we got Leah back,” I blurted out. For
The door behind me closed with a loud noise that made me jump. It was pitch black and I couldn’t see anything. If it wasn’t for Jax’s presence, I would have been terrified, but I knew he wouldn’t let anything bad happen to me.The torches on the wall lit on fire, casting an amber light over the room. The room was different from the pass way we had just walked through. Instead of the pebbled stone walls, the walls were smooth, and the ceiling was lower. If I didn’t know any better, I could almost believe that we were in some sort of basement. The weak white light in the shape of a dome in the middle of the room caught my attention. I looked closer and saw a skinny woman laying on a small bed. When we walked closer, she sat up, her hair all tangled and it looked like she had large dark circles under her eyes. I guess the light from t
Sky’s reaction did not make any sense. She seemed terrified of me.The force field. Dammit, why did I bring her here?. The force field had stripped me of my glamour and showed her my true form. No wonder it scared her. Even I feared my demonic form.I froze on the spot. Worry washing over me. Would she forever see the demon inside of me from now on, even though that wasn’t who I was?I took a deep breath and put my hand through my hair. “I’m not the monster you saw inside the dome. The dome removes all the magic of anyone that’s inside it. That means that when I stepped inside, the magic stripped away my human form, that is created by magic in a sense. It showed my true form, my demon side. If I had thought about it, I would have warned you, but I am still me.”
Mark walked all the way back to the cabin with me in his arms. His strength impressed me, as I wasn’t the lightest person. He placed me carefully on the bed, before giving me a kiss.“Just rest, I’m right outside if you need me.”Before he moved away from the bed, I grabbed his arm.“Please stay.”His eyes met mine.“Are you sure? Leah said that you needed to rest.”I nodded my head at him. A moment later he was in the bed next to me and I cuddled up to him and rested my head on his chest. The warmth of his body mixed with the familiar smell made me feel safe.
After Mark had left with Sky, I had felt the need to clear my head. I apologies to Cassie and went outside. The cool air rushed between my feathers as I circled over the treetops. The sun had started to go down, painting the sky in various shades of pink and orange. I kept flying until the stars came out. When I got back, Leah and Cassie had already ordered take away, which we enjoyed in front of the tv. Cassie cuddled up to me and I placed my arm around her. Overwhelmed with joy at how strong our relationship was becoming.“I have a surprise to show you”, Cassie said as the program on the TV finished.“What is it?”“Well, you have to close your eyes and trust me.”I looked over at Le
I was standing next to the makeshift stage by the big oak tree, watching as the Alpha entered the stage. It amazed me how everything had turned out. Not only did I have my magic back, but I also was standing next to the love of my life and Freya had gifted me with the ability to turn into a wolf. After Mark had seen me in my wolf form, he had insisted that we go to the alpha, to ask if I could join the pack as well. The alpha had agreed, and we were now waiting for the pack ceremony to start.“...Freya has a few words she likes to say before we start.”My thought’s go cut short when I heard the Alpha mention Freya’s name and I moved my attention to the stage.“Thank you Alpha Derek.&r
“You’re back,” Cassie shouted as she made her way towards me.“And you’re not dead,” Leah chimed in.“Did you ever doubt I wouldn’t be back?” I said with a smile.Cassie ignored Leah. “What did he say?”“He wants to personally give us his blessing.”“Does that mean I get to see my dad?” Cassie said, a wide smile appearing on her face.I hated to burst her bubble. “You will, on your eighteenth birthday.”The smile on Cassie’s face faded. “Why doesn’t he want to see me.”
We spend the next couple of days going back and forth to the witch village to help out. It was nice seeing my family again, but Night was still avoiding me. We had eventually found Dawn in the ruins, piled on top of the high priestess. It looked like she had sacrificed herself to save the high priestess. Most of her bones had been broken, and it was speculated that she had taken a hit from a stone wall or maybe the ceiling falling on top of her.The high priestess was still alive, but in terrible shape. Part of me wished she would die. She deserved it for what she had put us through. Maybe if we had gotten to my sister sooner, she could still have been alive, but I guess fate had other plans for her. They were planning a massive funeral ceremony for everyone that had got killed in the crossfire or when the building collapsed. Leah had found the ceremony i
When I got back to the house, Leah was in the kitchens cooking by the looks of it and Cassie was setting the table.I walked over and gave her a kiss before turning to Leah. “I didn’t know you could cook.”She gave me a smile. “I was worried you’d stop feeding me if you knew. Besides, I only cook on special occasions.”Me and Cassie sat down on the table as Leah came over with the food. We ate in silence for a while, enjoy the rich flavours of the casserole Leah had made.“So, how did Nick take the news?” Leah asked.I swallowed my food before meeting her gaze. “I haven’t told him yet.”“Scared he’d kill
I woke up when I heard the door to the cabin close. Mark had left earlier that day to attend some pack business. Technically, he wasn’t part of the pack yet, but he had told me that the Alpha had plans to perform the ceremony as soon as things had calmed down.I got up and walked into the living room, hoping Mark would have some news, when I saw Cassie.“Hi Cassie.”She gave me a smile and a wave. The massive rock on her hand almost blinded me.“Holy Goddess,” I said as I made my way towards her to inspect the ring.“When did this happen?”“Last night” she beamed with happiness.
I woke up from the sunlight reflecting from the waterfall, causing flecks of light to appear in the walls. I looked over at Cassie, still peacefully asleep. A big smile found my lips. I wasn’t ready to go back home to reality, so instead of getting up, I put my arm around Cassie and pulled her closer to me. Kissing the back of her head as I breathed in her scent. I was overjoyed with happiness.Eventually Cassie stirred and we reluctantly got up.“How about a swim before we go back?” I said with a smile.“Won’t it be cold?”“There’s only one way to find out,” I said as I grabbed hold of Cassie’s hand and jumped into the water. The water was just cold enough to wake u
Me and Mark had gone up from the sofa and were currently watching the last bit of sun disappear at the horizon.“Ready to go outside?”I nodded.“The pack house is still open for dinner, or if you prefer we can go somewhere else,” Mark said.“The pack house is fine,” I said as I looked at my hands. My skin was still red, but the blisters seemed to have gone away. I wouldn’t want to be out around humans looking like this, even if it wasn’t painful, I was bound to get some funny stares. At least the wolves knew me and what we all been through. They wouldn’t give it a second thought. Some of them had some gruesome scars on display themselves.I got my coat and sca
I woke up before the sun was up. My body felt rejuvenated and I couldn’t wait to spread my wings. I wrote Cassie a note before I made my way over to the window and transformed into a crow.I flew high in the sky, enjoying the chilly wind under my wings. The sky had turned a light shade of blue, the sun would get up soon. I thought about Freya and teleported to her realm. Maybe she was at home. I slowly made my way over to her cottage. My thoughts replaying all the events in my head. I still didn’t understand why Cassie had not run away from me. She had seen the monster that I truly was. It warmed my heart knowing she was still by my side despite everything. When I got to the cottage, no one was home. She usually knew I was coming, but there was no welcome, no newly brewed tea. I didn’t even see her two cats that were always hanging around. She
I was running fast through the forest. Much faster than I had ever run before. But I seemed to be aware of everything around me, the smells, the light movement of the wind, the sharpness and colours of the trees.I was gracefully swaying in and out between the trees, the placement of my feet precise. I looked down and saw my paws connecting to the ground. It was a chilly day, but the coldness didn’t bother me. My fur kept me warm. The sun was peeking out from the horizon, but I felt no fear. The sunlight could not hurt me in this form. I continued running. I heard a twig break behind me, I tried to run faster. But eventually a massive wolf jumped me and got me to a stop. I looked up and saw Mark in his wolf form. “You may be fast but you can’t outrun me.” he said in my mind as he licked my muzzle.
