Sienna

I look up into the green eyes of Dante Dragonetti, and my heart stops beating. What was he doing in my room? And why was he holding me up against my bedroom door?

“D-Dante? What are you doing?” I stutter out and catch the grin forming on his face as he licks his lips.

“Am I not allowed to see my intended bride?” He asks, running his fingers down my cheek, and I tremble at his touch.

“Of course, you may, I am yours,” I tell him, almost adding that this was inappropriate - he should not be in my room alone. He chuckles and draws his face closer to mine.

“Then why are you so terrified of me?” He whispers in my ear, his breath on my neck sending a shiver down my spine. What kind of question was that? Did he not know that he put the fear of God in everyone he meets?

“I am not… You merely surprised me, that’s all. I didn’t expect to find you in my room when you are only due to arrive tomorrow.” I managed to get out, my voice breaking as I babble on and he pulls his head back to peer down at me.

“Are you still a virgin, Sienna?” He suddenly asks, and I feel the blush creeping into my cheeks.

What the hell! What a vile man!

“Of course I am!” I cry out, and Dante puts a finger to my lips to silence me while he grins at my answer.

“Good, I want an unspoilt wife on our wedding night. A bloody sheet always signifies a blessed mafioso marriage.” He says, and the blush deepens on my cheeks.

Our wedding night, he was already thinking about our wedding night.

“You have a pure bride, Dante,” I answer him and he steps away from me and walks towards the terrace door, then he turns back to me.

“I wish I could say you have a pure husband waiting, but we all know what I am.” He says with a smirk before stepping out and closing the glass door behind him. I run to the door and watch him as he walks down the steps that lead into our back garden, slinking towards our wrought-iron gates.

How had he gotten inside with my father’s security detail? Should I mention this to him?

I breathe out a sigh and slink to the floor. Dante had been in my room. I could still smell his lingering cologne in the air and another shiver went down my spine.

Was he only here to find out if I was still a virgin or not? I am sure that he could have waited until our wedding night to see it.

What kind of person did he think I was to ask that question?

I don’t want to admit it, but I am left feeling incredibly insulted. Dante was the Capo who terrifies those around him, even his own family. It would never sink in that I was to be his intended bride, that this would be my last few days inside of our mansion and estate. I would not be allowed back in Chicago after this. No one would have me back.

Pulling myself up from the floor, I lock the terrace door and drag myself into the bathroom, hoping to now wash Dante’s touch from my skin. I opted instead for a shower and scrubbed my skin raw as the water washed the day away.

Dante’s appearance has left me shaken. Was this his intention? Did he want me terrified up until the day I was to marry him? Because if that is the case, then it’s working. After my shower, I climbed into bed, knowing that sleep wouldn’t come easy.

***

The next morning, my mother woke me up at 6 am saying we needed to head out to the shops for a few things. Trust my mother to think of last-minute dishes to add to the menu.

We get into our Maybach and my mother breathes out a sigh. “I lied. I needed to get out of the house and away from your papa. He’s in a foul mood because Dante is in town.” She admits and looks at me. So Dante had the same effect on everyone, not just me. Well, they only get to see him today and on my wedding day; I will be bound to him for life.

I offer her a smile. “I understand, mamma. So where did you want to go then?” I ask her and she turns to me with a smile.

“Carmella is meeting us for breakfast in town. I thought you would like to see her or have her by your side this evening.”

My eyes widen and a big smile crosses my lips. “Are you serious, Mamma? You did this for me?” I asked her and I could feel my eyes welling up with tears. How did she know I was suffering? She hardly ever showed her genuine feelings regarding this nuptial and seems to agree with everything Papa threw at me.

She takes my hand in hers. “Of course, Stellina. I know I haven’t been the best mother lately and I would rather see you get married to someone who… someone other than Dante, but sometimes we have to do what needs to be done.” She says wistfully.

“It is always us women who get traded like prized sheep in order to keep the peace,” she adds, making me do a double-take.

So Mamma knew what I was going through, and yet she kept quiet. I have been dying inside for the last 5 months because of this, and yet she remained impassive.

I plaster a smile on my face. “It’s okay, Mamma. I’m a big girl now and will do what is expected of me.” I say and she responds with a nod, then turns to look out of the window. The rest of the drive was quiet, and I wondered what was going through her head. She seemed terrified for me, but could not express it outright.

The life of a Mafioso Bride is a lonely one.

20 minutes later, we arrive outside a high-end restaurant and get out. I spot my Carmella’s blonde curls before I even see her.

“Sienna!” She calls as soon as she sees me and we walk over to her, but Mamma stops.

“You enjoy the morning with Carmella. I need to do a few things. Call me as soon as you are done.” She says then gets back inside the car.

Why was Mamma acting so weird all of a sudden? It was really bothering me.

“Carmella,” I say as we embrace, and she leads me over to a table. “Where did my auntie go off to?” She asks, meaning Mamma and I shrug.

“She said she had to do a few things and left with the driver.”

“She didn’t leave a bodyguard with you though, and that is dangerous,” Carmella noted, and this caused me to frown.

I didn’t even notice this minor fact. If Papa had to find this out, Mamma would be in real trouble.

“Is yours here?” I ask her, and she gestures to the guy at the table next to us.

“Okay, then, it should be fine. So, how are things?” I ask her, trying to take my mind off my mother and her odd behaviour. Carmella’s talking drowns out my problems and this carries on for a few minutes until her expression turns serious.

“Are you ready for this evening?” She asks me and I couldn’t help but shrug.

“I suppose I have to be, but I will have you there for emotional support, so I am sure I will be fine,” I respond to her, and she smiles at my answer.

“Sienna, how are you really feeling?” She asks me out of the blue, and I frown at this question. It was then that I realised that no one had asked me this since they announced my engagement.

I sigh and look at her. “I am terrified, but know this needs to be done. Dante will most certainly be the death of me. I think we all know this. Mamma raised me to be a proud Vincenzo woman, and I will be strong throughout this marriage.” I say and try to believe my own words, but I know I was choking on lies.

Carmella smiles sweetly at me. “Well…” She starts but trails off as her eyes dart towards the door.

She pales and grabs my hand across the table. “Don’t look towards the door, Sienna. Don’t.”

Ignoring her against my better judgement, I turn around and my heart drops. Dante had just walked in with a shapely blonde on his arm, and they were currently kissing as if the other’s tongue was their only life support.

Sienna I feel physically sick at the display in front of me and turn around again. Peering up at Carmella, I offer her a sad smile. “He’s a Capo Dei Capi, he can do whatever he wants. Being engaged to a nobody like me shouldn’t change that.” I say sadly, but for some reason, I am hurt. “Would you like to leave? We could go to The Greenhouse and spend some time with the flowers?” She asks me, and I perk up at the mention of flowers. My Pappa built the Greenhouse for my 18th birthday. It was a safe haven for me and Carmella as the space brought the both of us calm. Floriculture was my passion and I could easily spend a day amongst the flowers and be happy. If it were up to me, I would own a small cottage in the forest with nothing but flowers surrounding me. That would be my Nirvana. I nod and smile at her, then we grab our things and walk towards the door. I pull out my phone to call my Mamma to inform her of o

SiennaSunday - It was the morning of my wedding and I have been up since 3 am pacing my bedroom floor. This was it. The time had finally arrived, and I was a nervous wreck. I could hear Mama as she paced the floor above me, seemingly as nervous as I was. We had landed in New York the day before because the wedding reception was taking place at Dragonetti Mansion, a vast estate that once belonged to Dante’s parents. My family and I are currently staying at Dante’s guesthouse, because of the old tradition of the bridegroom not being allowed to see the bride before the wedding.I got up from my bed and walked towards my wedding gown as it stood on the mannequin. It was a magnificent work of art made of silk and lace, embellished with a diamond bodice and an illusion Sabrina neckline adorned with scattered Swarovski crystal beading. It had an open screen back as well. Running my fingers over the bodice, my thoughts go straight to today

Sienna My father has his hand on my knee as he stares out of the limousine window with his gun drawn. He was in New York, Dragonetti Famiglia territory and on high alert, the irony being that he was basically handing me over to the man he did not trust. We spent the car ride in silence all the way to the church; my father did not once glance my way, and it left me with an uneasy feeling in my heart. I was his only daughter, and yet he had nothing to say to me on my wedding day. The limousine pulls up outside of the church, and I could already tell the place was filled with what I could only assume were mafia families - Both Famiglia and Outfit acquaintances. My father gets out after his men and scours the area with his eyes before walking over to my side and opening the door. He holds out his hand for me to take, and he leads me by the arm to the inside of the enormous cathedral. It was finally sinking in; I was getting married to a r

Sienna The Dragonetti estate was a sight to behold! Dante’s parents had impeccable tastes and you could see it by the opulent architecture, art and perfectly manicured gardens. “You have a beautiful home, Dante,” I say as I take everything in. “Thank you, but it will be your home too from today forward.” He says and we arrive at the reception to greetings from our fellow friends and family members. As per custom, we greet everyone individually as they give us their good wishes and felicitations. “Brother, you have a beautiful bride,” came the voice of the man who accompanied Dante to my parent's home back in Chicago. This man was lean and well built, with the same intense green eyes and dark hair as Dante, and I recall him being Dante’s best man. He picks up my hand in his and kisses the back. “Bella,” he says and I blush at his compliment. “Thank you,” I say as a smile plays on my lips and he winks at me. “Are you flirting with my wife, Nico?” Dante asks him, but the man named

Sienna I was seated at our table when I saw Carmella rushing out of the mansion and heading straight to her father’s parked Mercedes. A few seconds later, the car speeds away. My mother had prepared me to be a mafia wife, she raised me not to talk back and to speak when spoken to, but what my mother didn’t prepare me for were the betrayal and heartbreak. Carmella had been seeing Dante behind my back all this time. That was probably how he knew we would be at that specific café where he waltzed in with the blonde. They had played me for a fool and I was none the wiser. My heart might as well be made of glass because the one person I trusted irrevocably shattered it. Trusted even more so than my own mother. And yet, no tears came. Is this what absolute heartbreak felt like; a numbness in your chest and difficulty breathing? Because that is what I feel like right now. First, my father hands me over to one of our world’s most brutal mob bosses, my mother ignoring my pleas for help, an

Dante *Trigger Warning - Sexual Violence*What was I doing? Why was I being so gentle with her? Her body belonged to me by right and I could destroy any chance of her ever enjoying sex again, but that look she gave me before I kissed her had done something to me. It was the look of a virgin knowing she had no other choice but to submit to her husband, and then she had to go and say what I had been thinking. For some reason, I wanted Sienna to enjoy what I was about to do to her and what she was doing to me. Her body was gorgeous and bent to my every touch and caress, it was said the Vincenzo Princessa was beautiful; but whoever said that had clearly never seen her naked. No words could express how gorgeous her naked body was - and it was all mine. Her pure body and soul were mine. I nudge her legs open and look down at the gift presented to me; and how exquisite it was. Her virginal scent clouded my mind, and I could tell she was aroused by the faint wetness at her entrance. I had t

Sienna He tricked me. He allowed me to let my guard down and tricked me. I watch Dante leave, and as soon as the door closes, I rush to the bathroom and clutch my abdomen in pain. Reaching the shower, I open it on full blast and get underneath the freezing water. What had happened to Dante just now? It was like he snapped and then didn’t care if he hurt me or not. Why did he tell me he would be gentle with me, only to completely ruin me in the end? It was as if his plans were for me to let my guard down just so he could tear me in two. And that’s exactly how it felt; I felt the tearing as he thrust into me gently at first, then without abandon. Did he truly want to hurt and ruin me that badly? I still do not know what I did to him to deserve his malice. If he wanted me to hate him, well, he succeeded with flying colours. Sienna I am in heaven right now. Whoever designed this garden was a Godsend! Every flower planted grew all year long, so the estate always looked beautiful and bright from the outside. I walk towards the winter garden section and sit down on the marble bench built there. This would be my new mecca; this garden would be where I would get lost in. The crocus flowers and snowdrops looked beautiful amongst the frost, and I found myself lost in thought as I stared at them. Reminiscing over my old life I would never get back, the old connections which I now knew were fake, and my parents, who I would never see again. Carmella’s misdeeds were still fresh in my mind, and I felt a tear slip down my cheek as I remembered the poison to her tone yesterday. I had loved and trusted her like a sister, and she gave me up for a person like Dante, who probably only used her. I am not sure how long I sat in the garden like that, but the next second I heard incessant shouting. “She can’t have gotten

Dario Where the fuck did they take my brother’s body?! I’ve looked all over the place, and so have the other soldiers, but all that remained of him was his blood on the hardwood floors. After grabbing Daniella from their bedroom, I inch my way towards the panic room again. As soon as I open the door, I see Sienna rushing toward me and taking her child from my arms. “Amore…” she whispers, holding Daniella close as if she would disappear at any second. Sylvana, Nico, and Serena walk toward me as Sienna walks away. “Where is Dante’s body?” Serena asks me in a hushed tone, and I frown at her question. She thumbs behind her. “There’s a surveillance station behind there that Sienna found. I searched all the rooms but couldn’t find him. Did someone take his body?” She explains. I look at Sienna, then at the group in front of me. “I looked all over the mansion but couldn’t find his body at all. We need to check the surveillance tapes to see what happened.” I say, then walk towards the mon

I lay my head on Dario’s shoulder and sigh; I want what Sienna has with Dante, and I want it with Dario. “Don’t forget to come to my room tonight; we have something to discuss,” I say, not looking at his face for a reaction, but he kisses my hair, and I feel the smile on his lips. “I wouldn’t dream of being anywhere els-” “Dante?” My head whips up towards the sound of Sienna’s quiet voice and pale at the scene in front of me. Dario Dante gives me a wink as I join them at the table. Nico was already fussing over the food; God, I had forgotten how this man could eat, especially now since he’s regaining the strength in his muscles. He was starting to take a few steps by himself, but we don’t want him to overdo it just yet. The way things are panning out, Nico would probably walk again by the end of the year. I realized the other day during training with him that he has become even more vicious than before. I suppose if you keep a dog chained up and starving all day, eventually, when it’s let loose, it will devour any enemy in its path. Dante stands at the head of the table and raises a wine glass; we all follow suit except Serena. “To Dario and Serena, congratulations on your nuptials, Forgiato nel Fuoco, Forgiato nel sangue,” He says, and we men slam our fists to our chest. “Serena, Benvenuti in Famiglia, Piccola spia,(welcome to the family, my little spy)” We all chuckled at his ‘little spy’ comment. “B

Serena I'm still mulling over everything that has happened these last few days. My family was monsters; yes, I know how that sounds since I am also a mafia heir. However, I honestly thought they treated women better than men or at least respected them, but now I know how the men in my family really are. Dante seems to be more of a human, for a man nicknamed il Drago. Wearing jeans and a pretty pink blouse, I wait for Dario to come to fetch me and take me to the dinner Sienna has planned. I still don't know what to expect or how I'll be treated by the rest of the family. Dante Dragonetti, the man I've hated my entire teenage life, is trying to make amends with me, and so was his wife. However, I have no idea how to go about this. I don't trust or forgive easily, but I find that I am willing to try with them. My eyes go towards the door when I hear it unlocking, and Dario steps inside the room. "You ready?" He asks with a smile as he approaches me, sitting on the bed. "As ready as I'

Serena It’s been almost two weeks of living in constant anxiety. I don’t know what my old family is planning, but I know my Pappa well enough to realize that it will be bloody. Dante had a home doctor come in to check up on me and the baby. I’m one and a half months along, so anything could happen at this stage. Sienna and Sylvana seem to be keeping their distance from me since the meeting in Dante’s office, but they weren’t the only ones. I haven’t seen Dario since he left my bedroom that one night. He basically admitted that he’s in love with me and I’m not sure what I should do with that information. How can I trust his words when all they’ve been are lies? Then again, I’m not exactly one to talk since my Pappa sent me here to get closer to him. The boredom of staying in this room was getting to me slowly. Daily I find myself pacing the floor of my room, wondering what would happen next or when my Pappa decides to attack. It’s been too quiet on their side and I fear when somethi

Is there anything specific you require?” I ask her as we reach her bedroom. She shakes her head then as I turn to leave, she grabs me by the arm. When I look back at her, I notice the tears in her eyes, and my composure nearly cracks. “Please, Dario… Please don’t leave,” she begs, looking utterly lost and shattered. I don’t know whether to believe her or not since she’s adept at lying. “What do you want, Serena? My brother has already trapped me in a marriage with you. As we walk, I try to see if there is no way of escaping, but as far as I can tell this mansion was huge and felt more like a maze than a home. There’s no way out for now, so I stop looking around and follow Dario. We come to a stop outside of a large oak door, and Dario knocks three times before we step inside what looked like a study or an office. There were five people present already, four of them I already knew: Dante and Sienna, the middle brother Domenico and his traitor wife, Sylvana. The unknown man was tall, but muscular, with the same intense green eyes as Dario, black hair, and dressed immaculately given the time. “This is Serena Speranzini,” Dante introduced me to everyone, and I looked at each of th
