I held onto the note with shaky hands, walking towards the bed for support. As I read the words over and over, tears rolled down my eyes. How could he live so easily without me? My mind made it worse by whispering how foolish I was to myself.

While I was crying, Guilia pushed open the door. “Hey, there is this party that…” she paused. “Oh, I am sorry,” she said, walking to the door and locking it. Then she sat close to me on the bed.

The fact I had been seen as weak multiple times irked me, and I instantly wished I could rewind hands so Guilia wouldn’t see me crying.

“Look, I’m sorry for what daddy said last night. He really loves you, but it is difficult with us, and it’s just how this family is.”

When she said this, I shot her a glance. What was I supposed to do with this info? Fold my arms and get run through multiple times. I ignored her, crying my eyes out, because I was hurt.

She pulled me towards her, offering me a shoulder of comfort.
