AlessioChiara’s blood has pooled on the seat, splattered all over my shirt. Her skin is cold, and her chest is perfectly still and steady.I stagger back to the driver’s seat in horror, unstrapping her from the chair and heaving her into my arms before kicking the door open.As I get out of the broken jeep, I look around me and see that we’re stuck in the forest. There’s no sign of anyone anywhere, not even the road that we got off from. It’s dark here, and it feels as though we just ended up in a different dimension entirely. It's cold. My breath is fogging up in front of me, but it's nothing compared to the freezing sense of dread in the pit of my stomach. It's probably best to set down Chiara, but I can't. I don't even want to take a break from wandering around to check her pulse. I just choose to think that she's alive and just weakened terribly, than face the possibility of her being gone. This is the only thing keeping me going right now.Gritting my teeth, I retrace the trac
ChiaraMy heart drops to my chest. I feel like I just saw something private, something I shouldn’t have witnessed. The woman comes with Alessio as he goes over to me, and I take note of her trying really hard to hold onto him even though he’s subtly trying to shake her off. I don’t know if I should feel happy about that or not. All I know is that I don’t want to look at any of them and questions are whirling inside my head.Who is this woman? What is she to him exactly? How long was I out and what made this happen? Are they together? My brain is about to spout more questions but the Alessio reaches me and eagerly sits down on the chair next to my bed. He takes my hand and touches my face, his fingertips slowly grazing my skin. “Finally you’re awake.”The sensation of him being this close is making me feel warm and relaxed, but all these emotions vanish when I see that the woman is still standing beside him. He’s looking at me expectantly, but it takes me a while to think of the words.
ChiaraThe farther I get away from the pavilion, the lighter I feel. It’s like the claws of that Juliet are finally easing off of me, and I can finally breathe. It helps to know that the people having dinner there don’t seem to notice that I’m gone.Well, except Alessio.“Chiara!” he keeps calling behind me, and I want to just walk farther away without addressing it, but I can’t, even though this little flame of jealousy inside me doesn’t feel so little anymore.Taking a deep breath, I finally turn around to face him.He stops in his tracks, his face taut with confusion. Even though I’m standing still, he still approaches me carefully like I’m some sort of a rare bird that will fly away if he gets too close."Hi," I say awkwardly, waving around as though I'm trying to show him something when in reality, I'm just keeping my hands busy. "Very great night, huh? Really pretty.""Yeah." Alessio inhales slowly and frowns at me. "Did I do anything wrong?"My eyes go wide. Shit, he's onto me.
ChiaraThe first thing that pierces my consciousness is the gleaming tip of Juliet’s blade, wandering so close to my face that I can almost feel the metal gliding across my cheek. The last second reaction of my insticts is the only thing that saves my face from being sliced open.“What was that?” I demand, gasping for air. “What are you doing?”Juliet smirks. “Teaching you how to fight.”With that, she attacks again, sweeping her leg under my feet to knock me off balance. This time, I’m more prepared. I jump back to avoid her leg, then I raise my sword and take a jab at her chest. She parries my blow, our blades clanging. I don’t know exactly what I’m doing, but I can feel her trying to twist my sword out of my grasp so I copy her move. When she realizes what I’m attempting to do, she gives me a swift punch on the face. But to my surprise, I catch her hand and use the momentum to redirect her blow, letting her arm bend at an awkward angle until I hear something pop.“Fuck!” she curses
ChiaraI close my eyes and try my best to keep still as Alessio's lips reach past my navel, his breath warm and almost flammable against my skin. I know very well that he's enjoying watching me squirm and I hate that, but I can't help myself from feeling all sorts of pleasures coursing through my veins. The slight brush of his breath against the slope of my core is enough to make me brace myself for the release he just promised. If I tell him I want him. That should be easy, because I do want him. Not just now that he's driving me crazy with desire. I just do, and I know that I could just say it, but it being true seems more difficult to admit. So I just clamp my thighs together in the hopes that he will move away. But he doesn't move away. Instead he grabs my knees and pries my legs apart, baring my wet slit before him.I gasp and open my mouth in preparation for a protest, but my voice disappears when I see him grinning up at me like a devil."Alessio, I can't do this," I nearly pa
Alessio"What?" Nero splutters, but I'm too restless to pick up on his question.I pace the floor frantically, my mind racing. Why haven't I thought of this before? Why did I resign myself to think that my situation was hopeless and I can't do anything about it? Hell, I didn't know I can just get rid of my Wolf Spirit and be done with being a monster forever. I never even thought it was possible. But now the answer is right in front of me.I grab Nero's shoulders. "How did you do it?""The ritual must be done in the full moon," he says carefully, his eyes narrowed as he looks at my face. "It's not an easy process, Alessio. As far as I'm aware, I'm the only one who has been able to do it. I'm not sure I'll be able to replicate it, besides--""I trust you," I tell him firmly. "Do whatever you want, just get this beast out of my body."I tap him on the back and make a move to leave, but to my surprise, he punches the back of my neck out of nowhere. It didn't hurt at all, but the sheer
AlessioThe first thing that strikes me from this short exchange is the fact that Chiara has been wandering in the forest all on her own. For some reason, that clouded everything in my head. “Did something happen? Are you alright?”I expect her to break down in my arms but to my surprise, she just looks me dead in the eye and starts laughing. “Nothing happened and I’m okay! Relax.”She pinches my arm and tries to get me to smile, but I can’t bring myself to. Perhaps I’ve gone a little paranoid, but I really don’t like the idea of her going out on her own. I look at her giggling now and my heart constricts.I want to protect her at all costs, even though I know that the biggest danger around her is me.When she notices that I’m just staring at her, she immediately stops laughing and loops her arm around mine instead. It’s a bit of an effort since I’m more than a foot taller than her, but she does it anyway.“Hey,” she says in a small voice, “Are you still mad at me?”I shake my head. “
AlessioI stare at the tip of the arrow gleaming under the lights. I know that I probably won’t die even if it’s silver and it pierces my chest, but I have to admit that I’m getting wary, especially when I see the familiar hint of crazy in Nero’s eyes.I can’t say I missed that.Still, I just raise my hands calmly. “This might just be me, but I feel like there are more steps that lead to attempted murder--”Nero cuts off the rest of my words by firing an arrow from the crossbow. Instantly, a powerful surge of energy fills my body, and I hear Lycus roaring inside my head.My skin starts to sprout fur. My nails grow long and sharp. I can feel my whole body expanding as Lycus tries to push himself forward, and it all just happened so suddenly that I know I have no power to stop it.But Nero seems to be ready, because he sets the crossbow aside and takes a syringe full of purplish liquid from his pocket and stabs it on my growing neck.Wolfsbane. The potion that weakens Wolf Spirits. The
