Maeve POV

I stand in front of the mirror, adjusting my boobs. I am putting on a sexy red short gown. The gown is a body hug, hugging my slim waist and curvy hips. Not going to lie, I am curvier than most adults she wolf in the pack, probably because of my status.

“You done?” My best friend, Mary, whispered. I turn back to look at her.

“Yes, how do I look?" I grinned, doing a 360 for her. She smiled widely, her blue eyes drinking me in.

"Honestly, Mae, you look fantastic; I could literally eat you up,” she teased, smirking at me. I chuckled, covering my mouth. Well, Mary is bi, and she always teases me about how fat my ass is and how she wants a taste of it, but I know she is just joking. Her phone pinged, and she looked at it, grinning.

“The girls are ready; let’s go,” she said, taking her heels in her hand. I bent down to take off my heels after taking my purse. She opened the window, looked around before jumping down, and I watched as she landed perfectly on her legs. I do the same thing by jumping down.

“Stay quiet,” she whispered. I rolled my eyes at her. I am the Alpha’s daughter. I am good at stuff like this, just that I never snuck out before. Mary is the beta’s daughter and a year older than me; she has not found her mate but is hoping to. I am the only child of my parents, which makes them strict, especially given that our park is the biggest and most lethal.

Father is a mastermind in planning wars and controlling his warriors; he wasn’t born an Alpha, but at age 18, he took over from his former Alpha, killing the man, and since then nobody has challenged him. Father has a lot of enemies; they want to bring him down because he has been ruling and staying at the top for a long time, but they have never caught him unaware. Father is strict, hard, and every bad word in the book, but he is amazing to me. I am his little princess; he gives me everything I want and gives me proper training as the Alpha daughter.

Tomorrow is my 18th birthday, and if I find my mate tomorrow, I am going to take over the pack, but I am not ready. I am ready to find my mate, but not take over the pack. I feel I am not ready to, and my father deserves to rule for as long as he can. I have been very pressured as the whole place has been designed, invitations have been sent out, and my father threw a ball in case I find my mate tomorrow. Mary brought up the idea of sneaking out to a club just to free my head from all the bullshit that is going to happen tomorrow.

“Here,” Mary whispered, taking my hand.

“Why are the guards not on patrol? That’s weird,” I said, looking around. The guards are supposed to be everywhere, but this place is so empty that anyone can literally enter the border and nobody will know.

“Don’t bother your pretty head about that; remember, we have to have fun and clear your head for tomorrow, so let’s go,” she said, running past the border. I smiled widely, feeling the cold breeze on my skin. This is the first time I am going outside the border with no one breathing down my neck. We continued running like our pants were on fire, then we got to a car.

“How did this get here?” I asked, not out of breath, but Mary was breathing hard. I rolled my eyes at her.

“I drove it here,” she said, turning the car on. I smiled running to the front seat. I giggled as she turned the car on, playing really loud music.

“Let’s have fun!” she yelled. I yelled with her, putting my seatbelt on. Tonight I want to have as much fun as I can, forgetting about tomorrow.

************

I look around the busy club, different bodies bumping into me, some people making out by the side. I took a deep breath, trying to look for any human scent, but my nose was filled with alcohol, smoke, sweat, and different scents. But I can also get a very faint scent of humans, so I guess this club is for everyone, especially since it’s so far from the pack.

“This way,” Mary said, dragging me to the bar. A guy was behind the counter; he smiled at us as we arrived. He looks handsome, and his smile is dashing, but he is not compared to werewolf males because I can tell he is human.

“Mary! Long time, no see,” he exclaimed, smiling widely. Mary giggled, looking at him. Yes, they definitely fucked.

“Hey Ben,” she said, twisting her hair. I just stood by the corner, looking at them. He looked away from her, staring at me. I looked back at him, somewhat irritated. Why is he staring at me like that?

"Hello, beautiful, looking dashing in that gown,” he said, smirking flirtatiously. I turned to look at Mary, and she had a frown on her face. I sighed. I didn’t come here for all this; I just wanted to get drunk.

“Can you get us shots?” Mary asked, and it moved his attention from me.

"Yes, ma’am,” he said, doing his thing. I looked around the busy club; I've never been to a club before, so I don’t even know what to do. I just hope this way is a good idea.

“Come on, Mae! Feel the music and get lost,” Mary said, smiling widely. I smiled at her, looking at the small bottles of gin. I watched as Mary took a bottle from her purse and added liquid to the drink.

“What’s that?” I asked.

“Alcohol, human alcohol can’t get us drunk, but just a drop of this. You won’t feel your legs,” she said, giving me a cup. I guess this club is more like humans, or maybe it's a wolf, but everyone is trying to act normal.

“Let’s cheer,” she said, eagerly. I smiled, clicking my glass with hers. I watched as she drank it once, and I decided to do the same. I twist my face as the taste hits my lungs. But I like the feel of it.

“More,” I said, bringing my cup forward. She giggled while bringing more shots, and it turned into a competition of shots as we both continued drinking. At this point, I couldn’t feel my legs, I felt drowsy, and I could feel eyes on me. Actually, I have been feeling eyes on me since we entered the club, but I just ignored it. But now I suddenly felt conscious, and my wolf was howling. I can’t even understand what she was saying, but it’s giving me a headache.

“Stop howling Liza,” I thought, linking my wolf. She said a lot of things—a lot of things I didn’t hear—but it seems she’s mad at me.

“Where is the restroom?" I yelled. Liza pointed to a corner while making out with a human, which I found really disgusting. Not the human, but the fact she makes out with so many people and even fucks them; she is supposed to remain pure for her mate, but nothing is pure about Mary, not like I judge her.

I walked away from them, trying to look for the toilet with my drowsy eyes. I don’t even know where I was going; the music was loud, everywhere was vibrating, and the choking smell of sweat, alcohol, and cologne was choking. I was still walking, but a body rammed into me, and my clumsy ass fell straight on the floor, my head bumping against the ground.

“Watch it, girl!” I heard someone yell, but I chuckled, trying to sit up. But I was highly drunk.

“You’re drunk,” a deep voice said. I looked up, and I was looking into midnight blue eyes. All the bad smells suddenly disappeared. My nose was filled with the sweet scent of mother’s bread, which is my favorite scent, with a hit of hot chocolate. My wolf was howling loudly, and my heart was beating fast. I couldn’t see his face well, but I knew he was handsome.

“Hey handsome,” I slurred, holding his hand, and all I could feel were his strong muscles. Suddenly, I was not on the floor.

“Who did you come with?” he asked, carrying me in his warm arms. I smiled with my hands on his cheeks.

“You,” I said, rubbing his smooth face. He looked down at me, and I smiled at what I hoped was flirty enough. He didn’t reply to me but just continued walking.

“Drive,” he said, putting me on a chair.

“Where are we?” I asked, looking around.

“The car,” he replied. I smiled, moving close to him. I found my way to his laps, sitting on something that felt hard. He hissed, but didn’t chase me away.

“You are so handsome,” I whispered, kissing his neck while unconsciously moving my hips. He held my waist, pulling me back.

“What are you doing?” he growled, but I smirked at him, kissing him. What I didn’t know was how things were going to change with just a kiss. A fun night was about to turn into a nightmare, a nightmare that was going to last and stay in my heart forever because, unknowingly, I just signed a deal with a cursed devil.

Maeve POV The sunlight hit my face as I turned around on my bed. I reached for my alarm, but I couldn’t find it. I frowned, wondering why it’s not here. “Mom!” I yelled loudly but hissed afterwards at the headache that followed it. “I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” a deep voice said and immediately I sat up. A slight migraine hit me as I blinked repeatedly, trying to get used to the light, and I saw a half naked man. At first it was all confusing, but flashes of last night ran past my brain. I look down at my naked self and the small bloodstain on the bed sheet. I bit my lips in shame. “This is not how I plan to do it with my mate,” I murmured, scratching my hair. A deep, dry chuckle left his lips as he scorned me. “I’m sorry, mate?” he asked. I took a deep breath, making sure I was not mistaken, but I was not. That was what Liza was howling yesterday and the scent. I should have realized I met my mate last night, and it only makes sense it is Alpha Ario. I have never met him, b

Maeve Pov I walked around aimlessly. I am tired, exhausted, and just drained. I don’t know how many hours it has been, but the weather is hot. I have been running nonstop for hours. I have not run into anyone; I have no destination; I don’t even know what I am doing. Liza is quiet, mourning her parents and mate. I don’t even have any tears in me. I feel so tired to even cry. It’s funny how I was an Alpha daughter yesterday preparing for her birthday party and today I am a lone wolf hungry and tasty. If I had known this would happen, I would have stayed with my parents all night, hugged them close and told them I love them countless times. I would have not gone to the club, I didn’t even go back there. I have no idea what happened to Mary, if she was alive or dead, if she came back to the pack house. I know nothing. I slumped on the floor, not moving. My ear was very close to the ground, so I could hear and feel the vibrations on the floor. I don’t care who it is or what i

Maeve POV A soft knock woke me up from my troubled sleep. I didn’t want to answer the knock because being awake will remind me of everything that just happened in the span of hours and I don’t want to remember them at all but the knocks were persittent so having no choice I sat up from the floor I slept off on. I cracked my neck harshly, rearranging my neck. Can’t believe I slept off on the damn bed. “Maeve,” a voice called from behind the door. I sighed, standing up and opening the door and the girl was standing behind it with a smile on her face. “I am sorry to disturb you but it is time to eat, and it is compulsory to eat in the dining hall if you live in the pack house, alpha’s order,” she said, hoping I don’t refuse. It is also compulsory in my pack because father saw it as a way to bond with his pack members, it was always fun because of the pack pups and teenagers, teenagers can be very loud. I remember when my father would carry the little pups, feed them and act like he was

Maeve POV All my life, father has always taught me not to lose control. I lost control once and I almost got a pack member killed, my father was an alpha and my mother was a beta daughter and she came from a generation of alpha’s so I have always had immense strength and father taught me how to use my strength, he taught me how not to lose control. And I never lost control since that day but today I lost all control, I can feel my eyes turning pure gold as I stood up from the chair. My hand turned to claws and hair sprouted out of my skin as I shifted into my big black wolf. It’s no secret that my wolf is bigger than my father's, it has always been big and intimidating and right now I want her head. They screamed as I jumped on the table, taking the girl by her neck and flinging her body to the wall. Her body made a dent on the wall as she fell to the floor. I ran to her clawing her face immediately I got to her while she tried to protect it but I grabbed her neck with my t

Maeve POV It’s been three days since I got here, and I haven’t done much. I stayed out of everyone’s way, stayed in the room, and only went to the pond. Sometimes I go alone, or Maya goes with me. I have been getting a lot of stares, and anytime I pass by people, they always bow their heads in greeting. I don’t know why they do that. I am not their alpha. They don’t need to bow their heads. I only come out when I am heading to the pond, but today Ario wants to speak with me. I don’t know what he wants to tell me, but I am eager to hear what he wants to say, so right now I stand behind his door, knocking softly. “Come in,” his deep voice boomed from behind the door, sending pleasure down my spine. The bond is straining; I don’t feel it that much because I rejected him, but technically we are still mates because he didn’t verbally say the words, so I still feel the bond sometimes. I took a deep breath, opening the door, and I got a slap of his scent, but I ignored it, walking silently

Maeve POV We didn’t talk again, and I just kept following her to the arena. I could see other people also heading there, and they all whispered. They are actually mocking me, saying I just made a stupid decision, but I ignored them. After taking a long walk, we got to the arena, and it’s so big, big enough for thousands of people. We passed through some doors, then we got to Ario. He was putting on a black shirt with black trousers; his shirt wasn’t buttoned up completely, and his black hair was a bit messy. It seems he has brushed his hair with his hand so many times today. Seeing him made me feel relaxed and also irritated, especially as he was looking at me blankly. “Everything is ready, alpha,” a warrior said, coming to him, and his attention was divided. “Okay, let’s move,” he said. I followed Maya as we all left the open space, but as I was going, he pulled me back. “Leave,” he said, holding my wrist. I looked down, my heart fluttering at the gesture. His hand looked big aro

Maeve POV “Maeve,” a voice called, shaking her awake. Maeve turned around, opening her eyes. “It’s time,” the voice said again. She looked up at the guards, nodding her head. She sat up, and she saw Maya, the beta, Felix, and Ario with a few guards. Maya looked like she had cried her eyes out, but Maeve ignored it. “You need to change into comfortable attire,” Ario said, pointing to the guard who was holding clothes. “I don’t want it,” she said, standing up but immediately falling back down. Her legs were sore from sleeping in that position for hours; even her back hurt. She closed her eyes, expecting to hit the floor because she didn’t fall. The guards held her hand, preventing the fall. A low growl left Ario as he looked at the hands of the guards, but not everyone noticed as Maya burst into loud tears. “She can’t even stand on her own,” she cried. Maeve stood up straight, stretching, still ignoring the crying woman. “Where is my sword?” she asked. “Here,” a guard said, giving

She shouldn’t have screamed; her hand was already healing. Maeve shifted her hair sticking to her bloody skin. She felt a sharp pain in her stomach but ignored it as she laughed at the scared Jane. She remembered what she told her in that dining room, and her laughter increased.“Where are you running to?” she asked, climbing over the dead bodies to get to her.“Please,” Jane begged, shaking.“The bitch begs,” Maeve said, tilting her head. She has not lost control, she is very much in control, but the bitch in front of her was making her angry. She talked to her in that manner, was indifferent to the fact, she had

Maeve POV“Damn!” Arthur yelled, totally invested in the game. The game has passed an hour, and none of them is half way yet.“Otto, what did you do?” Arthur asked, not removing his eyes from the game.“Made it harder,” he said, sitting down calmly.“Your son is going to be a wicked king,” Arthur said, and I chuckled. The game is getting harder and more complicated. The clues are hard to find, and if they find them to crack, it is difficult. Plus, the demons that jumped at them out of nowhere almost killed Bryan. Otto made the demons attacking very strong, then the humans attacking used their powers against them, and they have none. The game is extremely hard. Kennet went back to the starting line without his flag; blood was all over him.“Out!” Arthur yelled. Kenneth growled. Well, he lost his flag, so he is out of the game. They all looked at each other.“We know you all are not on good terms, fighting each other over the position,” I said.“Still, you have no right to tell us what to do,” Kate said, glaring at me. I know she is not a big fan of my mother and me. She especially doesn’t like her; I remember her telling me Kate never really spoke to her and frowned at everything she did. She was supposed to be the leader, but mother was more powerful than her.“I have every right to tell you, Kate. My mother was the leader; I am her daughter, more powerful than you can ever be,” I snapped at her. Maeve POVThe thunder and lightning crashed as the rain fell heavily. It was like the rain could tell my mood and how sad and devastated I was. When the demon king told me I had to kill my father, I knew it was a debate. There was no way I would kill him; there was no way I would look at the man who loved me so much and stab him. The look of betrayal would have killed me, torn me to tiny shreds; it would hunt me day and night. The plan was to get everyone to safety. I wanted everyone to be happy. I didn’t want any deaths on my plate, except for Jane, because I was ready to kill her at any moment. But as I stared at their opened coffins, laying side by side, it was very heartbreaking for me. Father has always wanted her by his side, so it’s only fair I bury them together, even though she isn’t worth it.“It’s time to close up the grave,” Ario said, his arms around my shoulders.“Wait,” I said, looking at my father’s face one last time. Of course, the rain is not touching them. They

He looked at me, shocked.“I thought you told me something very important,” he said.“It was important,” I said, offended.“So why couldn’t I remember?” I asked.“Because I wanted you to be curious. You sought answers and led me to Selene,” I said.“What?” he asked.“I knew Selene was alive; that was not her I killed. It was way too easy the way she died, but I didn’t know how to track her. Maeve POVI stood, looking at her dead body. She was truly dead, and I don’t know how I feel. Happy she is gone or sad because she was still the woman who gave birth to me. I looked at George.“How do you feel?” I asked, my voice hoarse. He blinked. We were the only ones in the room.“Lost,” he said, looking at her. She slit her own throat. She is a coward. I sighed.“I’m sorry you lived a lonely life because of her decisions,” I said. He looked at me.“Why are you apologizing? It wasn’t any of your fault she chose to abandon me,” he said. Who would have thought we were truly related? I never thought about it once, but I saw him as my little brother. When I met him, he was so young, lost, and innocent. I grew a soft spot for him as he stared at me innocently with his doe eyes. He was cute.“I wish you met your father; he would have loved you,” I said, chuckling. Everyone went quiet.“But why did Aelle take that sword? Jane obviously wronged him but still died for her,” Brandon said. I kept quiet, processing it.“He couldn’t stand watching his daughter kill her mother, the woman he loves,” I said.“It’s too sad,” Odin said, and I agreed with him.
