Unknown POV

A young girl no older than 7 walked down the hallway, heading to her father’s study. She was clad in a beautiful pink gown her father had chosen for her during the day. Her black hair bounced behind her as she ran to her father’s study with a piece of cake in her hand.

“Father has been in the study all day long; he must be hungry,” she said, her smile wide in excitement. It was obvious she loved her father so much; he was her treasure. She got to his study, and before she could barge in, she heard voices.

“What should we do? We can’t hide her forever,” she heard her father say. Curious, she opened the door a bit, peeping inside. Her father should have noticed her, but he was too engrossed in his conversation. The little girl tilted her head in curiosity as she saw her father, her mother, her uncle Alaric, and a woman she didn’t recognise.

“She is going to cause so much danger, Harold; we have to hide her,” the woman said, her voice hoarse.

“I am no coward; I don’t care; I will be here for her forever; nothing will happen to my daughter under my watch,” her father snapped.

“Do you know who she is? She is not even your daughter,” the woman snapped back.

“She is my daughter’s witch; my mate gave a bitch to her; I watched her push her out,” he argued back. The woman turned to Alaric in panic.

“Alaric talks to him; he is not aware of the danger ahead of her future; once she turns 18, everything will change. Your daughter is not an ordinary wolf; she is a celestial being; her future is uncertain once she turns 18,” she said, her voice holding worry. The little girl was confused. What were they talking about?

“What are you suggesting?” Alaric asked, equally worried. It’s no secret that Maeve was like his daughter; he loved her so much, and he and her father are brothers. They are not blood brothers, but what they have is bigger than any sibling relationship.

“Give her to me; I can protect her; I can shut her out of this world,” she said, and they can hear the desperation in her voice. Harold stood up abruptly, slamming the table.

“I knew it; you are just a power-hungry woman; you just want to use my daughter for your selfish reasons, and I won’t allow it now to get out of my office, you witch!” he yelled. Maeve flinched in shock. She has never seen her father so angry. How dare this woman make her father angry? Maeve thought, looking at the back of the woman. The witch looked at Harold, and then a smirk sat on her face.

“Oh, it looks like you want it the hard way,” she said, and it all happened so fast. One moment, everyone was seated; the next minute, they were all on the floor, and the wooden table split in two. Maeve gasps in shock as she sees her father on the floor, holding his stomach. Her eyes widened in bigger shock as the lady’s appearance changed. From the back, she looked like an old witch, her back bent, but now she stood straight, her white gown cladding her hourglass figure. Who was she?

“How dare you filthy mortal talk to me that way? Do you know who I am? I am your creator, your goddess; you have no respect for me at all,” she asked, walking closer to her father, who was on the floor, groaning in pain.

“W.who are y.you?” He stuttered, still in shock. The lady smirks, using her extremely sharp heels to match his palm. Harold screamed, trying to remove her leg, but he had no strength against her. Maeve's mouth opened in shock and, without thinking, she barged in.

“Leave father alone!” Maeve screamed, pushing the woman with all her strength. The woman turned around, and it was who she was looking for. She grabbed her hair, gripping it.

“Let go of me!” she yelled, biting her hand hard enough to draw blood. The woman hissed, letting go of her harshly. She looked at her hand as it healed, but her bite mark was clearly visible.

“You little witch, you have caused enough problems for me,” she said, breathing out. Selene couldn’t believe it. After waiting for years, she is here, and it looks like she is still causing troubles for her. She just wants to strangle her little neck before it becomes a problem for her when she is older. She growled.

“Come here,” she said, dragging her with her hair as she walked out of the study, dragging Maeve.

“Mother! Father!” Maeve yelled, kicking her feet in the hair.

“Give me my child!” her mother yelled, running after them. Harold ran as fast as he could as he watched his daughter cry heavily, screaming for him. They got outside, and it was dark, but they could all see perfectly. Harold’s mouth opened in shock as tree veins came out of the lady, wrapping around Maeve. The veins carried her up, squeezing her neck.

“Maeve!” Janice, her mother, screamed in horror as hot tears fell down her eyes. It was a horrible sight as her daughter turned all shades of purple.

“Leave my daughter; she is just a child!” She screamed, running to them, but there was a barrier blocking her; she couldn’t move close to them.

“It’s better I get rid of her now before she grows up; she is a curse; she can’t be alive; if she lives, it’s going to be disastrous,” Selene whispered to herself, watching her suffocate. Suddenly, a body collided with hers harshly. Selene flew into a tree, hitting her head harshly, while Maeve fell passed out.

“Maeve!” her mother cried, going to her daughter. She checked her body, checking if she was still alive, and she was breathing perfectly well. She breathed out relief. She looked up, and a handsome man stood in front of her, dressed in black. He looked dangerous and his aura was choking, but he had the face of an angel. Who was he?

“Odin,” Selene growled, standing up. Odin turned to her.

“I told you to stay away from her,” he breathed.

“She is a danger to us,” Selene growled.

“You are the danger; she did nothing to you,” he said. Selene frowned.

“That is not how you talk to your aunt,” she snapped.

“You are not my aunt. You are my enemy; you killed my mother and father; I won’t allow you to kill her again,” he snapped. Selene chuckled.

“Your so-called mother is a child; she has no idea who she is. Aren’t you ashamed to call a  7-year-old your mother?” she asked.

“It doesn’t matter; she will gain her memories when the time is right,” he said, standing in front of her.

“Not if I have something to do about it,” she growled.

“I won’t do that; you are surrounded,” he said, and Selene looked around, and truly, she was surrounded as men appeared from behind the trees. Selene looked at Odin, breathing out.

“You win this round again, Odin, but she won’t escape this, and your precious kingdom will crumble under my hands,” she snarled, and she was gone. Odin breathed out, turning around. Harold and Janice hold the sleeping daughter tightly. Odin bent down to their height and he cleaned the blood on her forehead.

“You need to grow up quickly, mother; Tena needs you,” he whispered, brushing her hair. He looked up at her parents. It’s a pity they had to raise her, but he could tell they loved her with all their hearts.

“Take care of her,” he said, waving his hand. Their eyes blinked repeatedly, and they fell to the floor. Odin breathed out, kissing Maeve’s forehead.

“What did you do, my lord?” a man asked, walking close.

“Wiped their memories of this night,” he said, standing up.

“What happens next?” he asked.

“We wait; we can’t do anything now,” he said, breathing out.

“What of her mate, Carson?” he asked.

“He is reborn, but I don’t know where; I just have to monitor her,” he said.

“What if Selene gets to him? She might interfere in the mate bond,” he said.

“She will interfere, but if they fell in love before without the mate bond, they would do it again,” he said, thinking of his father, his mother’s mate. He looked at her again, and he smiled. He has been waiting for centuries for her to be reborn, and now she is finally reborn.

“I hope even without your memories, you will be strong enough to deal with what would happen to you in the mortal world. When the time is right, I will show myself to you,” he said, looking at her, and they all vanished into thin air, leaving Harold, Janice, Alaric, and little Maeve on the floor, passed out cold.

Maeve POV I stand in front of the mirror, adjusting my boobs. I am putting on a sexy red short gown. The gown is a body hug, hugging my slim waist and curvy hips. Not going to lie, I am curvier than most adults she wolf in the pack, probably because of my status. “You done?” My best friend, Mary, whispered. I turn back to look at her. “Yes, how do I look?" I grinned, doing a 360 for her. She smiled widely, her blue eyes drinking me in. "Honestly, Mae, you look fantastic; I could literally eat you up,” she teased, smirking at me. I chuckled, covering my mouth. Well, Mary is bi, and she always teases me about how fat my ass is and how she wants a taste of it, but I know she is just joking. Her phone pinged, and she looked at it, grinning. “The girls are ready; let’s go,” she said, taking her heels in her hand. I bent down to take off my heels after taking my purse. She opened the window, looked around before jumping down, and I watched as she landed perfectly on her legs. I do the s

Maeve POV The sunlight hit my face as I turned around on my bed. I reached for my alarm, but I couldn’t find it. I frowned, wondering why it’s not here. “Mom!” I yelled loudly but hissed afterwards at the headache that followed it. “I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” a deep voice said and immediately I sat up. A slight migraine hit me as I blinked repeatedly, trying to get used to the light, and I saw a half naked man. At first it was all confusing, but flashes of last night ran past my brain. I look down at my naked self and the small bloodstain on the bed sheet. I bit my lips in shame. “This is not how I plan to do it with my mate,” I murmured, scratching my hair. A deep, dry chuckle left his lips as he scorned me. “I’m sorry, mate?” he asked. I took a deep breath, making sure I was not mistaken, but I was not. That was what Liza was howling yesterday and the scent. I should have realized I met my mate last night, and it only makes sense it is Alpha Ario. I have never met him, b

Maeve Pov I walked around aimlessly. I am tired, exhausted, and just drained. I don’t know how many hours it has been, but the weather is hot. I have been running nonstop for hours. I have not run into anyone; I have no destination; I don’t even know what I am doing. Liza is quiet, mourning her parents and mate. I don’t even have any tears in me. I feel so tired to even cry. It’s funny how I was an Alpha daughter yesterday preparing for her birthday party and today I am a lone wolf hungry and tasty. If I had known this would happen, I would have stayed with my parents all night, hugged them close and told them I love them countless times. I would have not gone to the club, I didn’t even go back there. I have no idea what happened to Mary, if she was alive or dead, if she came back to the pack house. I know nothing. I slumped on the floor, not moving. My ear was very close to the ground, so I could hear and feel the vibrations on the floor. I don’t care who it is or what i

Maeve POV A soft knock woke me up from my troubled sleep. I didn’t want to answer the knock because being awake will remind me of everything that just happened in the span of hours and I don’t want to remember them at all but the knocks were persittent so having no choice I sat up from the floor I slept off on. I cracked my neck harshly, rearranging my neck. Can’t believe I slept off on the damn bed. “Maeve,” a voice called from behind the door. I sighed, standing up and opening the door and the girl was standing behind it with a smile on her face. “I am sorry to disturb you but it is time to eat, and it is compulsory to eat in the dining hall if you live in the pack house, alpha’s order,” she said, hoping I don’t refuse. It is also compulsory in my pack because father saw it as a way to bond with his pack members, it was always fun because of the pack pups and teenagers, teenagers can be very loud. I remember when my father would carry the little pups, feed them and act like he was

Maeve POV All my life, father has always taught me not to lose control. I lost control once and I almost got a pack member killed, my father was an alpha and my mother was a beta daughter and she came from a generation of alpha’s so I have always had immense strength and father taught me how to use my strength, he taught me how not to lose control. And I never lost control since that day but today I lost all control, I can feel my eyes turning pure gold as I stood up from the chair. My hand turned to claws and hair sprouted out of my skin as I shifted into my big black wolf. It’s no secret that my wolf is bigger than my father's, it has always been big and intimidating and right now I want her head. They screamed as I jumped on the table, taking the girl by her neck and flinging her body to the wall. Her body made a dent on the wall as she fell to the floor. I ran to her clawing her face immediately I got to her while she tried to protect it but I grabbed her neck with my t

Maeve POV It’s been three days since I got here, and I haven’t done much. I stayed out of everyone’s way, stayed in the room, and only went to the pond. Sometimes I go alone, or Maya goes with me. I have been getting a lot of stares, and anytime I pass by people, they always bow their heads in greeting. I don’t know why they do that. I am not their alpha. They don’t need to bow their heads. I only come out when I am heading to the pond, but today Ario wants to speak with me. I don’t know what he wants to tell me, but I am eager to hear what he wants to say, so right now I stand behind his door, knocking softly. “Come in,” his deep voice boomed from behind the door, sending pleasure down my spine. The bond is straining; I don’t feel it that much because I rejected him, but technically we are still mates because he didn’t verbally say the words, so I still feel the bond sometimes. I took a deep breath, opening the door, and I got a slap of his scent, but I ignored it, walking silently

Maeve POV We didn’t talk again, and I just kept following her to the arena. I could see other people also heading there, and they all whispered. They are actually mocking me, saying I just made a stupid decision, but I ignored them. After taking a long walk, we got to the arena, and it’s so big, big enough for thousands of people. We passed through some doors, then we got to Ario. He was putting on a black shirt with black trousers; his shirt wasn’t buttoned up completely, and his black hair was a bit messy. It seems he has brushed his hair with his hand so many times today. Seeing him made me feel relaxed and also irritated, especially as he was looking at me blankly. “Everything is ready, alpha,” a warrior said, coming to him, and his attention was divided. “Okay, let’s move,” he said. I followed Maya as we all left the open space, but as I was going, he pulled me back. “Leave,” he said, holding my wrist. I looked down, my heart fluttering at the gesture. His hand looked big aro

Maeve POV “Maeve,” a voice called, shaking her awake. Maeve turned around, opening her eyes. “It’s time,” the voice said again. She looked up at the guards, nodding her head. She sat up, and she saw Maya, the beta, Felix, and Ario with a few guards. Maya looked like she had cried her eyes out, but Maeve ignored it. “You need to change into comfortable attire,” Ario said, pointing to the guard who was holding clothes. “I don’t want it,” she said, standing up but immediately falling back down. Her legs were sore from sleeping in that position for hours; even her back hurt. She closed her eyes, expecting to hit the floor because she didn’t fall. The guards held her hand, preventing the fall. A low growl left Ario as he looked at the hands of the guards, but not everyone noticed as Maya burst into loud tears. “She can’t even stand on her own,” she cried. Maeve stood up straight, stretching, still ignoring the crying woman. “Where is my sword?” she asked. “Here,” a guard said, giving

Maeve POV“Damn!” Arthur yelled, totally invested in the game. The game has passed an hour, and none of them is half way yet.“Otto, what did you do?” Arthur asked, not removing his eyes from the game.“Made it harder,” he said, sitting down calmly.“Your son is going to be a wicked king,” Arthur said, and I chuckled. The game is getting harder and more complicated. The clues are hard to find, and if they find them to crack, it is difficult. Plus, the demons that jumped at them out of nowhere almost killed Bryan. Otto made the demons attacking very strong, then the humans attacking used their powers against them, and they have none. The game is extremely hard. Kennet went back to the starting line without his flag; blood was all over him.“Out!” Arthur yelled. Kenneth growled. Well, he lost his flag, so he is out of the game. He walked over to us, shaking his head while breathing out.“Isn’t this too much?” He asked, taking his seat. A guard handed him a bottle of water.“No, it’s per

Maeve POV“Do you think we are babies?” Bryant asked, glaring at us. It was the next day, and we were with the pillars. We told them about the plan, and I don’t know if they are talking about it well.“You have no choice; who is going to be the leader?” Ario asked. They all looked at each other.“We know you all are not on good terms, fighting each other over the position,” I said.“Still, you have no right to tell us what to do,” Kate said, glaring at me. I know she is not a big fan of my mother and me. She especially doesn’t like her; I remember her telling me Kate never really spoke to her and frowned at everything she did. She was supposed to be the leader, but mother was more powerful than her.“I have every right to tell you, Kate. My mother was the leader; I am her daughter, more powerful than you can ever be,” I snapped at her. She rolled her eyes.“Of course you are powerful; after your mother gave you the title, you didn’t deserve them,” she spat. I smiled at her.“You know

Maeve POVThe thunder and lightning crashed as the rain fell heavily. It was like the rain could tell my mood and how sad and devastated I was. When the demon king told me I had to kill my father, I knew it was a debate. There was no way I would kill him; there was no way I would look at the man who loved me so much and stab him. The look of betrayal would have killed me, torn me to tiny shreds; it would hunt me day and night. The plan was to get everyone to safety. I wanted everyone to be happy. I didn’t want any deaths on my plate, except for Jane, because I was ready to kill her at any moment. But as I stared at their opened coffins, laying side by side, it was very heartbreaking for me. Father has always wanted her by his side, so it’s only fair I bury them together, even though she isn’t worth it.“It’s time to close up the grave,” Ario said, his arms around my shoulders.“Wait,” I said, looking at my father’s face one last time. Of course, the rain is not touching them. They

It was me getting married, but it wasn’t me; it was a woman he was in love with. We both did it for our father, but we didn’t actually get married. That night I told you I simply loved you,” I said, smiling cheekily. He looked at me, shocked.“I thought you told me something very important,” he said.“It was important,” I said, offended.“So why couldn’t I remember?” I asked.“Because I wanted you to be curious. You sought answers and led me to Selene,” I said.“What?” he asked.“I knew Selene was alive; that was not her I killed. It was way too easy the way she died, but I didn’t know how to track her. But I knew she was watching you, so I made you search for answers, and I tracked

Maeve POVI stood, looking at her dead body. She was truly dead, and I don’t know how I feel. Happy she is gone or sad because she was still the woman who gave birth to me. I looked at George.“How do you feel?” I asked, my voice hoarse. He blinked. We were the only ones in the room.“Lost,” he said, looking at her. She slit her own throat. She is a coward. I sighed.“I’m sorry you lived a lonely life because of her decisions,” I said. He looked at me.“Why are you apologizing? It wasn’t any of your fault she chose to abandon me,” he said. Who would have thought we were truly related? I never thought about it once, but I saw him as my little brother. When I met him, he was so young, lost, and innocent. I grew a soft spot for him as he stared at me innocently with his doe eyes. He was cute.“I wish you met your father; he would have loved you,” I said, chuckling. Father has a spot for people like George who are naughty, playful, and powerful; they would have gone along so well.“He see

But Aelle is her father; she shares his blood, and he loves her. She must have planned something for this war; Aelle dying was not the plan,” I said. Everyone went quiet.“But why did Aelle take that sword? Jane obviously wronged him but still died for her,” Brandon said. I kept quiet, processing it.“He couldn’t stand watching his daughter kill her mother, the woman he loves,” I said.“It’s too sad,” Odin said, and I agreed with him. We all remained quiet in our thoughts. A lot happened today. After Aelle died, the remaining warriors retreated, running away. We didn’t lose many
