Jace POV

I took a deep breath, holding her tightly, feeling her warmth against mine. "They're following instructions from my dad, Bella. He doesn't just want me to reject you; he has arranged for a replacement for me. And if I disobey, he's going to take it out on you."

She pulled out of the hug, looking me dead in the eye. "What are we going to do, Jace?" The sadness on her face was impossible to ignore.

"I have a plan, Bella. I have a plan," I responded.

"What is the plan, Jace? Please tell me, my love," curiosity etched on her face.

"We run away."

Bella yelled out in shock, saying, "What?!!!!"

I quickly covered her mouth, whispering, "Keep your voice down, Bella." I looked around to ensure nobody was eavesdropping on our conversation. Thankfully, there was no one around.
