Chapter 21 ~ Sleep Talk

“Nothing you do will make me happy!” Rose tried to pull away from him. But he kept his hold on her.

She continued to cry as the pain she had kept in came crashing down. Her heart was in pain and it didn't seem to be getting better. “What have I done for you to treat me this way? You're a terrible person Ethan!” Tears continued to stream down her face.

Afraid of attracting attention, Ethan began negotiating like he would to a child, “Why don't we get inside the car and talk about it?”

Rose looked at him, her sobbing had reduced but her eyes were still red and her face was puffy, “Are you just trying to fool me?”

“No, I'm not. I mean it.” He said in a surprisingly soft voice.

Rose was taken aback because this was Ethan's first time paying attention to her needs. She couldn't believe he was so patient and caring, making her wonder if he was cold to her on purpose. Without dwelling too much on it, she stood with his help.
