Autumn stared at him suspiciously, then shrugged before opening the book given to her. Her facial expression changed as she flipped through the pages of the book.

When she got to the last page of the book, she flipped it on the kitchen lab and turned to him. "What the fuck is that?" She yelled at him.

Perry loved the way she was reacting, so he smiled as he watched her and sipped his juice without saying a word to her.

"There are like a thousand rules in that book, what the hell?" She glared at him. "Am I here to live as your slave or something?" She scoffed.

"Even a slave doesn't have to go through so many rules to live with his master!"

"You're already disobeying one of the rules," he replied calmly and dropped the empty glass of juice on the slab. "Why are you shouting?"

"Why wouldn't I shout?!" She raised her voice again. "Dude, those rules are ridiculous. Didn't you read them to yourself?"

He shrugged. "Well, it's my house. And guess what? My house, my rules."

Perry was shocked. While he was still processing her attitude toward him, she walked back inside the kitchen. She had almost gotten to her room upstairs when she remembered that she hadn't made the tea she wanted to make for dinner. "Damn," she muttered as she returned to the kitchen. Seeing that Perry gave her a scornful glare, she decided to clear herself. "Come on, think about it, why do I need all those rules?" "You asked for them in the car, young lady." He replied, staring at her intently. She rolled her eyes at him as she remembered asking him if he had rules that she had to follow in his house. "I was only joking about it. "Whatever," he turned to leave, "I'll be in the sitting room. Let me know when dinner is ready," he added before leaving. Autumn stood there staring at the door as if she was mad at it. Whereas, she was mad at the man who just walked out of It.   "How the heck has he even been surviving? He has little to no foodstuffs here!" She shook her head an

Autumn made sure to wake up very early the next morning, even earlier than she normally wakes.   She had planned the night that she'd leave for work before Perry woke up. She didn't want to have any reason to follow him to work so that gossip and rumors wouldn't fly around about them. As she stood up to prepare for work, her mind went to the event from yesternight. When Perry threw the remote control on the television, the remote fell to the ground and shattered, making the batteries in it scatter around the sitting room.   As he passed by her and walked upstairs, she noticed how red his eyes were, coupled with the anger on his face. She knew better than to ask him further about what was wrong. When he was out of sight, she picked up the remote's batteries and fixed them back into the remote control. Then she placed it on a stool and switched off the television before going to bed. "I wonder what happened to him and why he acted like that," she muttered as she yawned and stre

"Go in through the VIP parking area," Perry said to the driver and he nodded his head in reply. "Okay, boss," he replied and drove into the firm through the VIP section.   The firm had two parking lots, one which was for the workers and any random persons, and the other for VIPs like Perry, who was the boss himself, his father, Mr. Moore, other dignitaries, and people who came to make contracts with him, including his other business partners.   Autumn, however, was shocked to see this. She had no idea the firm had another parking lot. Now she understood why some of the workers knew nothing about Perry.   He arrives at work in a tinted car, parks his car in the VIP section, and heads over to his office through the VIP elevator, which is guarded by his men.   No random person is allowed to use these services. He doesn't even eat in the cafe. How then would anyone know anything about him? "No wonder he was bent on me following him to work, he knew no one would see us anyway," sh

Autumn covered her mouth with her hand, as the realization of what had just happened hit her. "I'm so sorry, I had no idea you were behind me," she apologized to the lady sincerely. "Oh my God!" The lady yelled as she looked at her soiled top. It wasn't all that stained, but she wanted to create a scene out of it. "You wench!" She yelled at her, the whole cafe now looking at both of them. "I am so sorry, I promise I didn't know you stood so close," Autumn continued to apologize to her with a sincere look on her face. "I could get your shirt cleaned up in the bathroom immediately. There are spare clothes in the women's closet, in case of stuff like this." The lady scoffed at her, then stared at her scornfully. With her attitude, Autumn knew she was in for it that afternoon. "What gave you the audacity to speak to me?" She asked her. "Next, you're telling me to change my clothes to the clothes in the closet," she chuckled lightly. "Me?" She pointed to herself, then turned a

Autumn touched her cheek as she remained on the spot staring at the lady who had just slapped her. It came as a shock to her because she had not expected it. Still trying to process everything that was happening, the lady had begun to rant once again. "You have no idea how rude you are!" She yelled at her. "Do you even know who I am?" Autumn scoffed as she dropped her hand from her face. "If you were someone important, you wouldn't be this bothered about other people. Instead, other people would be bothered about you. But look at you," she pointed at her, giving her a scornful look. "I won't go down this lane with you though, you don't deserve my time." This only angered the lady even more. She didn't have any comebacks, and it pissed her off. As she fumed with anger, she couldn't control herself anymore, so she raised her hand to lash Autumn another slap. Fortunately for Autumn, Jax was nearby, and he had already seen it coming.? As she raised her hand the second tim

Autumn could see the rage in Perry's eyes as he glared at her, expecting a reply from her. Her heart began to race now. She had seen him angry before, but not as much as this. Seeing that there was no option left, she spoke up, since she knew he'd eventually find out his way if she didn't talk. "I don't know her name," she replied honestly. She had only met her once, and this happened to be her second time seeing her in the firm. "Then describe her," Perry ordered. Right now, he was acting as her boss, and it was only appropriate for her to do whatever he ordered her to. "I don't know—" "Scratch that," he cut in and brought out his phone from his pocket, then began to dial a number. Fear crossed Autumn's face. She had no idea what he was going to do, but she could tell that it wasn't something good, so she asked him. "What are you gonna do? Who are you calling?" "The executive director," he replied to her and her eyes opened wide in shock, fear gripped her even more.

The hall was filled with murmurs immediately, as the lady began to beg Perry, not minding that she was in the presence of everyone. "I want your desk cleared by the end of the day," Perry replied to her, ignoring her pleas. "Also, get ready to become a liability, because I'm going to make sure you never get a job in any other company. You know what that means?" He asked her and she nodded amidst her pleas. "Good, you're blacklisted." He then turned to the audience. "I believe you all witnessed this?" "Yes, boss!" They chorused. "Good. That's the tip of the iceberg. The next time anyone dares assault or harasses anyone in the vicinity of this company, he or she would be dealt with accordingly. This doesn't apply to my secretary alone, but all workers, including the security men, cleaners, and of course, the juniors. Is that understood?" "Yes, boss!" "The meeting is hereby dismissed!" He said as he walked to the exit. The lady, however, didn't give up. She ran after h

Wondering what Autumn did, Lisa was the first to reply to her. "What did she do?" She asked her curiously. "Yeah, what did I do?" Autumn also asked. "I think the only reason he invited us was that he felt you wouldn't go with him if he didn't invite us. He only felt obligated to invite us because you're here with us. If we weren't here with you, would he have invited us? No." She explained, looking a bit sad. Autumn chuckled lightly, before replying to her. "You're wrong, Olive. I don't think that's true. I know your engagement with her is very close, and I don't want to see her happy after everything she did to me." "And what did she do to you exactly?" "She happened to have arrhythmias, heart valve problems, and high blood pressure in her lung arteries, which led to a heart failure that made her collapse." "Oh my God," Autumn gasped, as she covered her mouth with her hands. Her eyes were teary by now as she stared at the doctor. "Isn't there anything that could be done about it?" She added after a couple of seconds. "Will she survive it? What do I have to do to make her feel better? Will she get better? She won't die now, will she? Please, be honest with me," she begged with teary eyes as her heart began to beat heavily. She had arguments with her mother a lot, but she w
