"I love Autumn," Perry said, maintaining eye contact with Autumn, who looked extremely shocked at his response.

She knew he was only trying to convince her mum, but she never expected him to say that.

He then turned back to face Becky, "I genuinely love her," he added.

Everywhere went silent again. Becky looked from Perry to Autumn, who was still staring at Perry in awe, and back to Perry. Elise on the other hand covered her mouth with her hands.

She couldn't believe that the famous handsome billionaire had just told her sister that he loves her.

"I don't trust famous men like you. You tend to lie a lot to have your way. I don't know what it is you want from her, but I still think you aren't being sincere with her." Becky responded. "And it would break me a lot of my daughter returned here crying or heartbroken over you."

  "Mum, he's—"

"She's talking to me, Autumn," he shot in her direction and said to her. "I can handle this by myself," he added, and Autumn simply nodde

As Perry placed both of his hands on her thighs, Autumn couldn't help the tingles she felt within her.   Despite liking how it made her feel, for some reason unknown to her, she knew whatever he wanted to do wasn't right and shouldn't be done where they were. "What the hell are you trying to do?" Perry simply shrugged. He had no idea what he was doing, but his subconscious mind just made him want to touch her.   It seemed like for the first time since he's been working with her, he only just discovered her pretty eyes.   Something in him wanted to go on as if to uncover more things, and he was glad she wasn't stopping him from doing it. However, their moment didn't last long as Elise barged in since the doors were open wide. She halted by the door as she saw the scene before her, and she was amused by it.   She wanted to take a picture of them so that she'll blackmail her sister with it in the future when she needs her help, unfortunately for her, Autumn was quick to see he

"Yes, there's something I'd like to tell you," Perry suddenly began to approach her. Her heart began to beat heavily. She knew that at moments like this, the main character walks up to the girl and confesses his feelings for her and they seal it with a kiss. As soon as Perry got to her front, closing the distance between them, her eyes opened wide as if she had seen a ghost.   His face turned serious at that moment, as he stared into her eyes for a couple of seconds. His eyes went down to her lips and he unconsciously bit his. Autumn noticed all this, and her heart raced even more. She knew what was about to happen and she was ready for it.   As she was about to close her eyes, he leaned in even further and placed his mouth on the crook of her neck. The heat from his breath tingled her skin, as she blinked her eyes a couple of times. "The water is fully boiled. Is this how you'll waste my resources when you start living with me?" He muttered, then smiled before leaning back

"And make sure you call me if anything happens, okay?" Becky said to Autumn for the last time that evening. Autumn nodded her head and suddenly, Becky pulled her into a hug.   "I won't miss you. I won't miss you at all. But this is for the best, I guess," she muttered as she sniffed and used her free hand to wipe her teary eyes. "Mum, are you crying?" Autumn asked, a look of surprise on her face. "You never act like you care and all that stuff, and now you're crying because I'm going to live somewhere else?" "I'm not crying, and I won't miss you at all," she defended herself quickly. "I'm only seeing you off." "Then, why are you hugging her that tightly if you're never gonna see her again?" Elise, who was standing in the sitting room, staring at her mum and sister's drama, replied with a disgusted look on her face. "You look like you're going to follow her to her new house if you have the opportunity. " "Hey!" Becky snapped at Elise, then released Autumn from the hug. "I was

"Tell that to my face," Perry ordered, and she turned around slowly to look at him. Both of them stared into each other's eyes. And for the first time since Gloria, he could swear that he felt his heart race.   Being with Autumn a lot these days, he had stopped remembering Gloria, and it was like he had gotten over her.   He wasn't ready to admit it yet, but he knew he felt something for Autumn already and a side of him told him that she felt the same. "I said I didn't see your texts, is there anything wrong with that?" She asked him with a serious look on her face. He stared at her without a word, and his eyes began to notice all the little details he never noticed about her before.   He looked from her hair down to her eyes, then down to her lips. He felt his heart skip once again and he suddenly looked away without saying anything.   Autumn noticed this, and she felt the urge to question him. "Why did you say you love me when you don't?" She suddenly blurted out. Perry

Autumn's eyes opened wide in awe, as she got down from the car and looked at the gigantic building in front of her. The mansion was all concrete and tall glass windows that gave a view of the mountains, a chance to relax and take in the changing of the seasons from the comfort of an easy chair. Its windows were as shy as eyes, large enough to welcome any ray of sun. The rock walls belonged right where it was as if perchance it had grown up right from that hallowed ground. "Woah," she muttered to herself as she admired the beauty of the mansion. Each corner of the wall was beautifully carved, and the designs were made with complete care. With the combination of dark green and spotless white paint, it was looking like a palace from a fairyland. Greeneries around the mansion were adding more beauty to it. As she admired the mansion, she recalled the small house she lived in with her mum and sister, in which some of the roofings in some parts of the house often leaked during ra

When Autumn was done arranging her things in her room, she freshened up and changed into more loose cloth. She tied her hair into a bun and called her mum and sister.   She assured them that everything was going well and that she was done setting down. When she was done with the call, she left her room for the kitchen. Since Perry hadn't shown her around the house yet, she struggled to find the kitchen. Opening the door gently, she was shocked to see Perry in an apron.   At first, she thought he was making dinner, but when she looked closely and listened to what he was muttering, she couldn't help but muffle a peal of laughter. "Uhm, the blender," he said as he read the paper on the body of the appliance. "Since its name is a blender, then that means it's used to blend stuff," he added.   He looked so focused on it that he didn't know Autumn was standing at the door staring at him. "I know this is the gas cooker, but how's this even operated?" He asked himself as he looked a

Autumn stared at him suspiciously, then shrugged before opening the book given to her. Her facial expression changed as she flipped through the pages of the book.   When she got to the last page of the book, she flipped it on the kitchen lab and turned to him. "What the fuck is that?" She yelled at him. Perry loved the way she was reacting, so he smiled as he watched her and sipped his juice without saying a word to her. "There are like a thousand rules in that book, what the hell?" She glared at him. "Am I here to live as your slave or something?" She scoffed.   "Even a slave doesn't have to go through so many rules to live with his master!" "You're already disobeying one of the rules," he replied calmly and dropped the empty glass of juice on the slab. "Why are you shouting?" "Why wouldn't I shout?!" She raised her voice again. "Dude, those rules are ridiculous. Didn't you read them to yourself?" He shrugged. "Well, it's my house. And guess what? My house, my rules."

Perry was shocked. While he was still processing her attitude toward him, she walked back inside the kitchen. She had almost gotten to her room upstairs when she remembered that she hadn't made the tea she wanted to make for dinner. "Damn," she muttered as she returned to the kitchen. Seeing that Perry gave her a scornful glare, she decided to clear herself. "Come on, think about it, why do I need all those rules?" "You asked for them in the car, young lady." He replied, staring at her intently. She rolled her eyes at him as she remembered asking him if he had rules that she had to follow in his house. "I was only joking about it. "Whatever," he turned to leave, "I'll be in the sitting room. Let me know when dinner is ready," he added before leaving. Autumn stood there staring at the door as if she was mad at it. Whereas, she was mad at the man who just walked out of It.   "How the heck has he even been surviving? He has little to no foodstuffs here!" She shook her head an

Perry paused for a minute and stared at him like he didn't just hear what he said. He scoffed, wondering if he was aware of what he was talking about. "Can you even hear yourself?" Max smiled. "I know you'd never believe me just by my words, so I made sure to gather my evidence to show you." "What the heck?" Perry stared at him unbelievably, as he felt his heart beating heavily. "Even if what you're saying is true, why are you telling me now?" Max let out a sigh. "You might call it selfishness, but my heart hasn't healed from the hurt she put me through. I know your engagement with her is very close, and I don't want to see her happy after everything she did to me." "And what did she do to you exactly?" Perry asked as he sat up in his seat curiously "What could she have done that made you despise her so much to com

She snapped at him and yanked his hand off her arm. "Can someone at least tell me what's happening?!" He asked at the top of his voice, while Gloria stood there staring at them. Mr. Moore checked the time on his wristwatch, and seeing that arguing with Perry would only make them late, he decided to tell him what happened "Autumn's mother needs to go through an operation and the fee is a little high for her." Perry's eyes went wide open in shock. "Her sister called us for help, and that's where we're going. Is that okay now?" He then turned to Gloria "My dear, we won't be available tonight

She asked him with a look of fear on her face. The doctor looked at her, then at the paper in his hand, then back at her. He then started to explain his diagnosis. "She happened to have arrhythmias, heart valve problems, and high blood pressure in her lung arteries, which led to a heart failure that made her collapse." "Oh my God," Autumn gasped, as she covered her mouth with her hands. Her eyes were teary by now as she stared at the doctor. "Isn't there anything that could be done about it?" She added after a couple of seconds. "Will she survive it? What do I have to do to make her feel better? Will she get better? She won't die now, will she? Please, be honest with me," she begged with teary eyes as her heart began to beat heavily. She had arguments with her mother a lot, but she w

The receptionist raised her head to look at Autumn again, giving her a disapproving stare. "Do you not have a last name?" "It's Dax. Autumn Dax." Confirming that 'Autumn Dax' was on the list of new employees, she gave Autumn a brisk nod. "Go to the office on the last end of the next floor." "Thank you," Autumn replied with false pleasantness and skipped towards the elevator. On getting to the next floor's waiting hall, a young lady stepped out of the office directly opposite her and called out, "Autumn Dax." "Here!" She replied and launched to her feet. The

Autumn arrived there first and ordered a drink while she awaited the arrival of her friends. The television was on, and it was set to a news channel. She was lost in thought about her search for a new job when someone mentioned Perry's name, which jerked her back to reality. "Isn't that the billionaire CEO of Trek Tech?" A lady squealed from her seat as she pointed at the tv. "Omg! It's him! He's getting engaged again!" Another one exclaimed and murmurs aroused in the room. Autumn managed to listen to the news amidst the murmurs, to know what exactly was happening. "...and had divorced his ex-wife, whom he didn't mention her name to cover her identity.
