Phoebe’s POV

He says he’s confessing to something, and I still can’t believe it.

Why now? I never asked him to do this.

I’m in shock. “Confess?”

“Yes, in two days. I tried to talk him out of it, but nothing worked. I was hoping you could.”

“Me? If you couldn’t convince him, why would I be able to?”

“You’re his daughter. He cares about you a lot.”

“No, Danny, I’m not going to do anything this time. If he wants to confess, let him.”

I hang up before he can try to convince me otherwise. I sigh.

“This isn’t how I wanted it to end.”

I hear footsteps behind me and turn, but no one is there.

I need to go back and tell Kobby and Evelyn I have to leave early.
