Megan changed into the surgery clothes and lay on the bed that the nurses would use to wheel her into the operating room. Her father and Julie were with her. Megan was slowly waking up as the rhythmic beeping of the machine sound brought her back to consciousness. She blinked her eyes open, her vision blurred and unfocused at first. Everything felt so strange.The clinical, sterile smell of the room and the steady beeping of monitors quickly reminded her, she was at the hospital. A different and strange sensation was coursing through her body, especially her chest. She did not let herself think about anything else except recovering, which had not been easy at all; the pain was not little at all. She had to manage a regimen of pain medications, which normally left her feeling groggy and disoriented at times. Simple tasks like sitting up, walking, and even breathing deeply cause her pain and anguish but she was able to face it with the help of her family. She did not feel lonely with their constant presence, and it was comforting to know that there were still people by her side, people who would be with her through it all.
