CHAPTER 278

~3RD PERSON’S POV~

~FIRGATTEN~

A cloaked male marched into a large hall, the sound of his shoes echoing with every step. His cloak was dark gray and had silver metal-like fittings at both its horizontal and vertical edges.

His boots were made mostly of leather and rubber, but their soles were made of hard plastic, which made clicking sounds every time they hit the marble floor. The hall he was in was a dark hall painted crimson red that had only flame torches as its source of light.

The male walked past a few large pillars in the dark hall and up a few stairs. He finally stopped in front of a large, red, translucent curtain and went down on one knee.

"Oh, Great Monarch of Firgatten! I have brought news from one of your loyal servants,” he said with a soft but bold voice.

“Speak, Ezikiel,” A female voice came from the curtains.

“The drugs have been distributed all around the world, and humans have begun foolishly consuming them. Very soon the mass reaction will start, a

Clarabelle got off her seat at the meeting table and walked toward the exit.“Where are you headed?” Nicole asked as she noticed Clarabelle.“Oh, I... need to make sure Mary is doing alright. She didn't eat her breakfast, so I’m going to bring some food to her,” Clarabelle responded.“I’ll come with you,” Melody suggested, getting up from his seat.“Oh, no, there's no need for that, really. I’ll handle this myself. Thanks anyway,” Clarabelle said, turning around and walking out of the hall. She followed the same path Mary followed and arrived at her door in only a few minutes. She let out a soft breath, then knocked.“Who’s there?” Mary asked.“It's me, Clarabelle. Can I come in?” Clarabelle asked softly, with traces of concern in her voice.“Sure,” Mary replied.Clarabelle turned the handle of the door

Clarabelle held Mary's hand tightly and pulled her to her back.“What are you doing?” Mary asked.“What does it look like I'm doing? I'm protecting you,” Clarabelle replied as she watched the monster slowly walk toward them, growing loudly. “But I should be the one protecting you; I have the power of an Immortal. You haven't figured out how to access your abilities yet,” Mary argued. The ceiling above the monster suddenly broke open, and Anima fell through. She swung one of her morning stars at the monster's head, crushing it against the ground with one strike. The ground cracked, and Anima landed on top of the monster.“The house is under attack; let's go quickly,” Anima said as the monster turned into black smoke. “What is that thing?” Mary asked. The three of them began running through the passage, taking different turns and routes in the mansion.“The mansion is under attack

CHAPTER 281~3RD PERSON'S POV~“Hey! Let go! Where are you taking me?” Herculia yelled as Mary dragged her by a long chain through a passage. The chain was connected to handcuffs that completely covered both of Herculia's hands. Edith and Clarabelle followed behind the two of them quickly, with worry on their faces.Mary ignored Herculia's yells. She carried an angry expression on her face, with deep crevices forming between her brows and her jaws tightly clenched. Herculia saw that Mary wasn't going to give her any attention, so she decided to use her fire magic to escape. Her orange hair and eyes started to glow, and her body started to remove steam. She tried to melt the cuffs, but all her efforts were to no avail as the enchantments on them were too strong. Mary pulled her further and threw her into a room along the passage. Herculia was about to run back out when Mary slammed the door in her face and locked it. “Why are you doing this? I told you I wasn't the one who revealed

The part of the ground where the bolt struck had already been cleaned and fixed by her, and the entire room was now back to its original state. Anima let out a sigh of satisfaction, smiling as she admired her work. “That should do it. Your room is back in tip-top shape,” she said, turning back to Mary, who sat on the bed behind her.“When you hammer like that, aren't you afraid that you'll accidentally burst the wall again with your superhuman strength?” Mary asked.“Oh, no. I'm very used to doing housework carefully. I make sure to apply just enough strength to every strike of the hammer so I don't end up making the damage even worse. The same goes for other household chores like removing the cobwebs and dusting shelves,” Anima replied, hopping off Mary’s bed.“Oh, I have one more question. How come you and Edith Mo

CHAPTER 283~3RD PERSON'S POV~Mary, Melody, and Clarabelle arrived in a black car in front of the mansion of Queen Elizabeth of Westerville. The mansion had numerous trees standing along the tall fence that surrounded the building. The building's main colors were white and golden-yellow; the only other colors that could be spotted were the different shades of green in the gardens and the dark and light colors of the cars and carriages that sat on one side of the building. Multiple security guards wearing military uniforms stood at different positions around the building, with four of them standing at the gates, a total of eight standing along the path toward the mansion’s main entrance, and another four standing at the main entrance. There were more guards around the building, but many of them were hidden. The driver parked the car in front of the golden gates, then got out of the car. The driver was a warrior wolf of Lady Anaya who continued working for Mary and Edith after Lady An

CHAPTER 284~3RD PERSON'S POV~Mary could feel a sense of warmth on her skin. The sounds of people screaming filled her ears, and the smell of flesh and blood filled her nostrils. She lay unconscious on a rough surface—she wasn't fully unconscious, though; she could somehow sense everything that was happening around her. A warm gust of wind blew over her face, and her eyes swung open. She drew in a heavy breath, then sat up quickly, panting heavily. She looked around, her face slowly contouring with confusion. “Huh?” Mary quickly got up from where she sat, the expression on her face going from confusion to shock as she saw the large flames rising from all the buildings around her. She could hear screams from people in agony but could not see anyone around. The streets were empty, and nothing but ash floated around in the wind. Mary let out slow breaths as she quickly realized that she was on a building top somewhere in Mystic Meadow. A bolt of lightning flashed in the red sky, and

Both her arms were missing, and the bed was almost completely soaked with her blood. She could barely move—her skin had become pale and lifeless, and the shine in her eyes had dimmed out.It was evident that she was knocking on death's door.Melody walked silently to the bed and picked Mary up. Mary hadn't fully gone unconscious, but she still didn't have the strength to move her body. Her eyes were heavy and had dark sacks underneath them. She turned to Melody and stared at him for a moment through her blurry vision, then let out a sigh and shut her eyes.“You’re safe now, Mary. They didn't bother dressing beautifully or wearing any disguises to hide their identities, as they were only here for two things: to ask questions and to cause destruction. They each had blank expressions on their faces and walked stylishly toward the front gates. The guards at the gates walked in front of them to stop them from going any further. Marie just waved her right hand, and as if commanding gravity itself to let them go, the guards started to levitate. They continued to rise into the air, yelling for help.Marie and her sisters stopped in front of the gates, and Marie raised her right palm toward them. She curled her fingers slowly, and the metal bars started to rumple. The gates were ripped off their hinges and crushed until they were nothing but a large metal ball. They had been waiting for Marie and the others to return for hours, but there was no sign of them returning at all.Clarabelle did well to protect everyone from the intense heat, and now that the sun had moved away from the earth, she was sure that Marie and her friends had won the battle. In fact, as the Immortal of Fate, she already knew they would win, and she already knew who would bring that victory, but she wasn't allowed to say a word to anyone. What she wasn't sure of was if they had survived or not, because she refused to look that far into the future.“Do you think they'll return safely?” Maria asked with worry in her voice. She has lost her husband before and was very afraid of losing him again.Clarabelle turned to her and saw the worry in her eyes, then turned away. “Let’s just be hopeful,” she said softly. A f

They both sat in a pool of water in the black, empty void that was Gabriella's mind. “What’s going on? I thought I died already,” Gabriella asked softly.“You did—well, not exactly. I put you to sleep for over four months to get some things done in your world. Now that my plot is complete, I'd like you to return and continue living the life you've always wanted,” Lunaris said with a smile.“Oh, you mean I didn't have to die for you to take my body?” Gabriella asked.“Yes, Gabriella. If everyone knew that you were still alive, they would not have grown as much as they have now... especially Marie. I had to make everyone believe that your death was necessary for me to come to this world, so that the plot I couldn't finish years ago would finally be completed,” Lunaris responded.“Oh, I can't believe it's been four months already. CHAPTER 307~3RD PERSON’S POV~Marie and her sisters, Cortana and Yuna, sat inside a large metal dome created by Angela. Angla had created multiple domes like this to accommodate the entire army of Vedantya, and this was because the temperature of the atmosphere has risen to an unbearable level. Daniella used her manipulation of heat to cool down the domes so the occupants wouldn't die of heat stroke. The air around the domes looked like it had been stained with gasoline fumes, and rocks around them had begun melting.Valerie tried again and again to open a portal but failed every single time. The spell that blocked her ability to use spatial magic wasn't very powerful but was somehow too complex for her to undo. It was like the spell reformed itself at light speed every time she broke it, and there was no way of stopping it.“This is bad. If we stay here longer than this, the whole world is going to melt down,” Angela said with worry on her face.“No, we can't give up yet; I'm sure I

CHAPTER 306~3RD PERSON’S POV~“What have you done to me?!!” Agnes yelled with a gory voice.“I poisoned you, Agnes. Ordinarily, poison wouldn't be enough to kill a witch like you, but depending on how powerful the poison is, it would be enough to weaken you. The souls of the fallen Immortals despise you, Agnes. But as much as they want to escape, as souls, they're not nearly strong enough to go against the spell you put on them. It's just like Sabbath and Mary; without Mary's body, Sabbath can't use his power. So, without Agnes's body, the immortals are weak to her spells. But spells require serious mental concentration and physical reinforcement to hold together, and once those two things weaken, the spell comes apart and the souls of the Immortals have their chance to escape.” Agnes gripped her stomach tightly as she felt an agonizing pain coming up. She bled from her nose and mouth as the souls of all the Immortals began seeping out of her body and flying off. “After the Immor

You’ll end up hurting everyone around you,” Agnes said. “But I’ll have you to slap me back to my senses before that happens, right?” Mary said.Agnes smiled. “Yeah, but next time I’ll make sure to slap you even harder so you get knocked out before coming back to your senses.” Both she and Mary laughed together, and the four teachers just stared at them with confused expressions on their faces.~•••~“I lied to you the other day, Mary. CHAPTER 304~3RD PERSON’S POV~Mary was accompanied into the building by a group of four people. Two of them were maids, and the other two were Agnes’s soldiers. All four of them still had that eerie smile on their faces, and their eyes still glowed bright red, making them look like their minds were being controlled. They walked into the glass building and led Mary to a magical elevator that didn’t require electricity to work. Mary had her guard up, prepared to launch an attack at anyone who tried to annoy her. At this moment, she was already very pissed off, and anyone who tried to attack her now would be walking into their grave. The elevator door closed and started to rise up the building. Everyone was unusually quiet, and none of Mary’s escorts wanted to make eye contact with her. Mary watched them through the glass wall in front of her—they looked like dolls, stiff and lifeless, like they had been programmed to only move when they were given orders. The elevator rose for over tw

They all fought with rage in their hearts, determined to end the battle as quickly as possible, but the Asuras were just too many. It didn't matter what the team did or what amount of power they used; the Asuras just kept coming like an endless sea of stars. The Asuras armor-like skin had become so strong that Edith's blade and Anima Morning Star both broke on impact. The two Immortals had to summon their weapons again and again during the fight just to avoid getting killed. They had to look for a new way to kill these Immortals, and that way was to attack them at points where their armour didn't cover—the gaps in the skin that revealed their glowing orange flesh. Targeting these parts was especially difficult for the werewolves because they didn't have long-range weapons, and getting too close t

They both had already seen the helicopter fly off, so they knew Mary was already going against her parents. Their only problem was getting to the forcefield, as the distance it was from where they opened their portal was too much. “Hey, couldn't you just use spacial magic to take us there? It's starting to look like this forest is playing tricks on us,” Melody asked, turning to Nicole.Nicole looked around, her eyes scanning past each tree, shrub, and rock. “I can't use spacial magic or any other kind of magic. Something is blocking me from doing it. This is bad; it means we can't teleport home unless we can find a place where I will be able to use spatial magic,” she responded. “But you're right,” she continued, then stopped
