CHAPTER 272

~3RD PERSON’S POV~

“Marie?” Valerie called softly, with worry in her voice.

“Im... sorry, sisters,” Marie replied, turning to the two girls. She turned back to the former Heralds and began walking toward them.

“Marie! What do you think you're doing?” Valerie yelled as she watched Marie walk away.

“Valerie, this has to be done if I'm to reach my true potential. I thought I could keep my emotions and also gain all of my abilities, but now I'm presented with a choice between the two, and I have to choose what's right—I have to choose what’s good for us—power,” Marie replied, stopping before the former Heralds.

“Marie, if you give up your emotions, then ours will be gone as well. Since when did you become so power-hungry that you forgot about everything you've been through to get here? You're willing to turn your back on everything to be some divine being who doesn't give a shit about the lives of people?” Valerie yelled.

Marie remained silent, a light whisk of wind blowing t

She carried a blank expression on her face and tightly gripped the protective railing that went around the tiled ground on which she stood. The wind blew through her hair and through her short-sleeved dress, her skirt dancing randomly to its soft fluttering sounds. Memories of their encounter with the former Heralds went back and forth in her head as she felt the cold breeze on her skin. Different emotions ran through her heart, and different thoughts went through her head. She was conflicted, not knowing whether to feel regret or happiness for the outcome of the encounter. She closed her eyes and let out a sigh, then loosened her grip on the railing.“Why did you suddenly have a change of heart?” Valerie’s voice sounded from behind her. “Huh?” Marie quickly turned around.Valerie walked over to where Marie stood, hopped from the ground, and landed feet first on the

You're so big, strong, and beautiful,” Yuna said, grabbing Cortana’s cheeks and pulling them gently.“Thank… you?” Cortana said.“Wait, you're a werewolf, right? I think my husband and kids were part werewolf. I'm sure the entire bloodline is now nothing but werewolves. Oh my, I've been away for so long that I don't even remember my husband's or children's names. I'm sure they grew up to be really successful and strong people. I'm hoping my husband didn't miss me too much.” Yuna continued, turning away from Cortana and placing her palms on her head.“Wait, you do know your husband and children are all dead, right?” Mary asked.“Well, yeah, I've been away for a very long time—longer than they can live.

Everyone had returned from their search for Yuna Teragon and was now sitting at a round table in a meeting room in the hotel.“Wow, so this was a total waste of time. What's our next move now?” Herculia asked.“Who is the next Immortal on our list?” Nicole asked.“Let's see, we’re supposed to find Avia Ignius, the Immortal of Phoenix Magic; Episteme Psyches, the Immortal of knowledge; and Edith Anima, the Immortal of life and light. The moon goddess said these Immortals are easy to find, and we don't really need to do anything. We could just give Daniela a phone call and wait for the other two to cross paths with us,” Mary replied.“But we can't just sit and wait; we have to begin planning on how to infiltrate Firgatten. From what you told us, Agnes alr

Her face had become pale and was covered in sweat; her eyes were half closed, and her body shivered. Her temperature was slowly rising by the second. “Driver, take us to the nearest hospital quickly; my friend isn't feeling very well,” Mary yelled worriedly, turning to the small mirror hanging above the windscreen. The driver nodded and was about to make a turn at a junction.“No!! Do not change the direction of the vehicle. Take us to the address we originally gave you,” Edith yelled with a sudden burst of anger.“But Edith, you're only getting worse. If we don't take you to a hospital, something bad might happen to you,” Mary said softly. Her eyes were beaming with concern, and traces of it lingered in her voice.Edith placed her righ

She sat up, breathing slowly and softly as she looked around the room she was in. To her surprise, her body no longer felt hot, and her fever was completely gone—in fact, now she felt even stronger than before. She raised her palms and flexed her fingers for a few seconds, then dropped them again and raised her head. She pulled the blanket off her body, then got off the bed. She was still wearing the dress she arrived in Mystic Meadow with—a black and white-themed maid dress with a knee-length skirt and short sleeves. She put on her leather shoes and walked over to the door. Edith walked out of the room and through a passage, her eyes darting around in an attempt to figure out where she was in the building. This house almost looked like Anaya's, but a lot of things were different. As she walked through the passage, she met a maid on the

CHAPTER 278~3RD PERSON’S POV~~FIRGATTEN~A cloaked male marched into a large hall, the sound of his shoes echoing with every step. His cloak was dark gray and had silver metal-like fittings at both its horizontal and vertical edges. His boots were made mostly of leather and rubber, but their soles were made of hard plastic, which made clicking sounds every time they hit the marble floor. The hall he was in was a dark hall painted crimson red that had only flame torches as its source of light. The male walked past a few large pillars in the dark hall and up a few stairs. He finally stopped in front of a large, red, translucent curtain and went down on one knee. "Oh, Great Monarch of Firgatten! I have brought news from one of your loyal servants,” he said with a soft but bold voice. “Speak, Ezikiel,” A female voice came from the curtains. “The drugs have been distributed all around the world, and humans have begun foolishly consuming them. Very soon the mass reaction will start, a

I’ll handle this myself. Thanks anyway,” Clarabelle said, turning around and walking out of the hall. She followed the same path Mary followed and arrived at her door in only a few minutes. She swung one of her morning stars at the monster's head, crushing it against the ground with one strike. The ground cracked, and Anima landed on top of the monster.“The house is under attack; let's go quickly,” Anima said as the monster turned into black smoke. “What is that thing?” Mary asked. In fact, as the Immortal of Fate, she already knew they would win, and she already knew who would bring that victory, but she wasn't allowed to say a word to anyone. What she wasn't sure of was if they had survived or not, because she refused to look that far into the future.“Do you think they'll return safely?” Maria asked with worry in her voice. • MATED TO THE RUTHLESS LYCAN KING   CHAPTER 307: HER RESURRECTION

CHAPTER 307~3RD PERSON’S POV~Marie and her sisters, Cortana and Yuna, sat inside a large metal dome created by Angela. Angla had created multiple domes like this to accommodate the entire army of Vedantya, and this was because the temperature of the atmosphere has risen to an unbearable level. Daniella used her manipulation of heat to cool down the domes so the occupants wouldn't die of heat stroke. The air around the domes looked like it had been stained with gasoline fumes, and rocks around them had begun melting.Valerie tried again and again to open a portal but failed every single time. The spell that blocked her ability to use spatial magic wasn't very powerful but was somehow too complex for her to undo. It was like the spell reformed itself at light speed every time she broke it, and there was no way of stopping it.“This is bad. If we stay here longer than this, the whole world is going to melt down,” Angela said with worry on her face.“No, we can't give up yet; I'm sure I

CHAPTER 306~3RD PERSON’S POV~“What have you done to me?!!” Agnes yelled with a gory voice.“I poisoned you, Agnes. Ordinarily, poison wouldn't be enough to kill a witch like you, but depending on how powerful the poison is, it would be enough to weaken you. The souls of the fallen Immortals despise you, Agnes. But as much as they want to escape, as souls, they're not nearly strong enough to go against the spell you put on them. It's just like Sabbath and Mary; without Mary's body, Sabbath can't use his power. So, without Agnes's body, the immortals are weak to her spells. But spells require serious mental concentration and physical reinforcement to hold together, and once those two things weaken, the spell comes apart and the souls of the Immortals have their chance to escape.” Agnes gripped her stomach tightly as she felt an agonizing pain coming up. She bled from her nose and mouth as the souls of all the Immortals began seeping out of her body and flying off. “After the Immor

You’ll end up hurting everyone around you,” Agnes said. “But I’ll have you to slap me back to my senses before that happens, right?” Mary said.Agnes smiled. “Yeah, but next time I’ll make sure to slap you even harder so you get knocked out before coming back to your senses.” Both she and Mary laughed together, and the four teachers just stared at them with confused expressions on their faces.~•••~“I lied to you the other day, Mary. CHAPTER 304~3RD PERSON’S POV~Mary was accompanied into the building by a group of four people. Two of them were maids, and the other two were Agnes’s soldiers. All four of them still had that eerie smile on their faces, and their eyes still glowed bright red, making them look like their minds were being controlled. They walked into the glass building and led Mary to a magical elevator that didn’t require electricity to work. Mary had her guard up, prepared to launch an attack at anyone who tried to annoy her. At this moment, she was already very pissed off, and anyone who tried to attack her now would be walking into their grave. The elevator door closed and started to rise up the building. Everyone was unusually quiet, and none of Mary’s escorts wanted to make eye contact with her. Mary watched them through the glass wall in front of her—they looked like dolls, stiff and lifeless, like they had been programmed to only move when they were given orders. The elevator rose for over tw

It didn't matter what the team did or what amount of power they used; the Asuras just kept coming like an endless sea of stars. The Asuras armor-like skin had become so strong that Edith's blade and Anima Morning Star both broke on impact. The two Immortals had to summon their weapons again and again during the fight just to avoid getting killed. They had to look for a new way to kill these Immortals, and that way was to attack them at points where their armour didn't cover—the gaps in the skin that revealed their glowing orange flesh. Targeting these parts was especially difficult for the werewolves because they didn't have long-range weapons, and getting too close t
