~3RD PERSON'S POV~

“Hello, hello,” Christine repeated, speaking into the phone, but there was no reply. She sat on her bed with the telephone console on her thighs. Her eyes had dark circles and had become a little pinkish, as she had been crying for a very long time. She wore a white sleeping gown and tied her hair in a large bun sitting above her head.

She placed the phone back on the console, used her palms to cover her face, and continued crying.

The door to her room suddenly clicked open, and Evelyn walked in with a tray carrying a bowl of hot soup. “Are you still crying? You'll hurt yourself if you keep this up,” Evelyn said, rushing to her side.

She placed the tray on a table beside her bed and sat beside Christine, placing her palms on her shoulders.

“Why me, Evelyn? Every time I fall in love, something terrible just comes out of nowhere and takes it away from me. Am I cursed? Was I not born to be happy?” Christine asked between sobs.
