Valarie was sitting backwards, very close to the door, as hot tears flowed down her cheeks. She has just been beaten up by Luna Fae, her foster mother whom she thought was her biological mother. She actually felt so hurt beyond comparison. She doesn't really know why Luna Fae treats her the way she always does. She sometimes wonders if Luna Fae was truly her mother, because no matter how she tries to please her, she is never pleased. Valerie tried so hard to stop herself from crying, but the more she tried the more her tears flowed out from her eyes. Somehow she really felt so miserable and wished to just leave that house, but she cares about her little brother Anthony, who was always there for her whenever she was down.
Anytime she actually thought of running away from the house, because of how Luna Fae was treating her. She would always think of Anthony and just stay back, but the more she was staying there, the more, she was feeling so miserable because of Luna Fae. To her Luna Fae was the cruelest person she has ever known of, because she never hid her cruelty even for a moment and pretended to be good towards her. But somehow she acts all nice to Anthony and shows him so much care. She thought as another round of tears started flowing down her cheeks again.
Despite how cruel Luna Fae was to her, she still loves her so dearly and was ready to please her. But Luna Fae always finds so much pleasure in making her miserable and sorrowful. Few minutes ago she didn't really do anything to deserve the beating that Luna Fae has given to her, but what more can she do other than to just endure it and cry her eyes out again and again. She thought as she remained seated on the cold floor. Maybe it would be best if she just left that house because she could see Luna Fae doesn't want her there, but again if she decides to leave now, then where will she go, because she doesn't really have any other family except for this family she was with right now.
She was actually the first daughter of a Alpha, but she get to be treated as a slave in her own father's house. There are actually so many maids in the house, but Luna Fae made sure she does all the house chores alone, while the maid just rests and attends to Luna Fae's needs. What more can she do now? No matter how she wants to leave that suffering she just can't leave it because they were her only family that she knows of. If she actually has another family aside from them, then she would have gone away immediately to meet that other family.
Meanwhile Luna Fae was seated on the couch in the sitting room, satisfied with the beating she had given to Valarie earlier. She really doesn't like Valarie for even a bit, and she finds pleasure in making her sad. Right now, she felt so fulfilled knowing that Valarie would definitely be at the backyard crying her eyes out. And that was more than enough for her right now. Even though Valarie didn't really do anything wrong, she was going to make sure she starved her for tonight. She was not going to allow her to eat any food that night, with the excuse that it would be her punishment for delaying the task she had given to her. That thought made her smile immediately knowing fully well she was going to punish Valarie again tonight.
Even though Valarie was going to be the one to prepare the food, she wouldn't let her eat the same food she had prepared. She kept smiling to herself as she remained seated on the couch with her legs crossed. Just then, one of Alpha Callan warriors rushed into the house, and immediately Luna Fae saw this, she became worried immediately.
"What is the meaning of this?" Luna Fae asked curiously, because the way he had run into the sitting room showed all wasn't well, and she wanted to do what was wrong immediately.
"Luna, Alpha is in trouble." The warriors said, panting heavily.
"What are you talking about?" Luna Fae asked.
"The pack is under attack and Alpha went to the rescue, but he asked me to come to you so that you know what to do." The warriors told her, and immediately she knew what to do next. Her husband was in danger and she knows the only way to help him right now.
"Ok, go over to the backyard, and tell Valarie that her father is in danger." Luna Fae told him.
"Ok Luna." The warriors replied, and quickly stood up from the floor where he was kneeling to talk to her and started walking out of the sitting room.
Luna Fae stood up from the couch as she walked behind the warriors. She wanted Valarie to leave with the warriors immediately, so that she could get there on time. She knows for sure that her husband was no match for who he was currently fighting with so she just can't take a chance.
The warrior soon arrived in front of Valerie. And immediately she noticed him, she quickly wiped off the tears in her eyes before looking at the man in front of her.
"What do you want?" Valarie asked, immediately she noticed the warrior had stopped right in front of her.
"Ma'am, you have to come with me right away." He said,
"Why? where are we going?" Valerie asked curiously.
"Your father is in trouble right now and he needs you." He said,
"Oh my goodness, where is he?" She asked and quickly stood up.
"Come with me." He said, and started leading the way, as she hurriedly followed behind him.
Immediately Luna Fae saw they were coming, she quickly rushed back into the house, she didn't want Valarie to know she was there watching them the whole time.
Valerie ran hurriedly with the warriors, as they both approached the spot where the fight was taking place. Actually Valerie didn't know what she was going to do there, but she doesn't really care about that right now. All she knew was that she didn't want anything to happen to her father, and she was willing to give her life for her father. She doesn't really know why the warrior came to call her instead of her mother Luna Fae, but she doesn't care either, all she could think of right now was just to get to the spot immediately and save her father from any harm that was currently coming to him right now.
Meanwhile Alpha Drake was still strangling Alpha Callan, as Alpha Callan tried to release himself but he was just too weak to do that. Though Alpha Drake's hand was still bleeding from the bite Alpha Callan had bitten him earlier, the hand was still very strong enough to kill Alpha Callan.
"So you really think you can escape after killing the people I care about?" Alpha Drake asked, while he continued strangling him, as he kept trying to release himself.
Alpha Drake just smiled seeing how he was trying to release himself. "You know you are no match for me, and I'm going to finally end you right now and give my parents the justice they deserve." Alpha Drake said, but just then they both heard a voice.
"Dad," Alpha Drake tried to look over to where the voice was coming from. And his eyes caught sight of a beautiful young lady. She was slim and very beautiful, with dark curvey hair that was shining like the sun. She had small pink lips, which was very welcoming and tempting. He tried to turn and but again something else happened.
A sweet Lily scent hit his nostrils and he froze trying to understand what was happening at the moment, but then Valerie walked closer to where they were standing, and immediately Alpha Drake started to feel their mate bond. Even Valerie also felt it and she gasped knowing that the man in front of her was actually no one else but her mate.
"How can this be?" Valerie thought within her, as she stood a little bit away from where her father and Alpha Drake was, and tried to see if she was mistaken on that mate bond she was currently feeling right now.
While Alpha Drake had to release Alpha Callan from his grip and he fell down on the ground almost lifeless. Valarie was still lost in thought, and she just couldn't think of her father right now, even though he was the reason she was there, but now something else has totally taken her attention and it's not just anything it was really serious.
"How can you be my mate?" Alpha Drake turned to her, but she was still staring at the ground in confusion, she was still so lost in her thoughts.
"How can this happen to me?" Alpha Drake yelled in annoyance, and that brought Valerie back to reality, she glanced at him and saw he was now looking at her fully. She could see a range of anger written all over him, but she didn't really know why he was angry and still didn't care. She quickly noticed he was no longer holding her father, and searched for him with her eyes. She saw him lying on the ground and quickly rushed to him.
And all Alpha Drake armies who were present there also saw how everything was going, and they felt sad immediately for their Alpha. Because they knew he wouldn't want to fight his mate's father even though he was the one that killed his family. They also stopped fighting immediately and went straight to their Alpha, who was still very angry at what had just happened. Alpha Drake couldn't even look up at his mate anymore. He actually thought his mate would actually make him happy, after he had gotten justice for his family but now it was the other way round. His mate was the daughter of his parents' killer which was actually so painful for him to even think about right now. His armies came to him and they all started walking away. While Valerie tried to carry her father up from the ground. Alpha Drake and his armies returned to their pack. But Alpha Drake armies refused to go over to their various ways, because they knew how much their Alpha needed some comfort right now, so they
Chapter 4Luna Fae walked closer to the couch with her husband and Valarie was sitting down, as sat beside her husband. She was hungry and needed to eat breakfast. So she decided to send Valerie to go and do that, actually she can just call any maid in the house or even the cook, but she doesn't want to do that. "I should probably go to my room now." Valerie said, and stood up from the couch, and was about to start working out of the sitting room."Wait not so fast," Luna Fae said, and Valerie turned over to her."I want you to go into the kitchen right now, and make breakfast,or aren't you hungry?" Luna Fae asked."I'm actually hungry, I will go and make breakfast now." Valerie said, and Luna Fae nodded in agreement as Valerie started walking out of the sitting room. Alpha Callan didn't really say anything about it. He was totally aware of how his wife was maltreating Valerie, but he doesn't really care much about it. Rather he doesn't care much about it."I think you should also
Without taking much time Luna Fae stood up besides her husband, and started walking out of the sitting room. She headed straight to Valarie room, as she smiled inwardly. She had actually hated Valarie before from the very beginning, but she just decided to put up with her since she was going to save her family later on in the future, and now was actually the main time. She was really so happy right now, because she knows that very soon the girl that she hates so much will definitely leave her home for good. She kept smiling until she finally arrived at Valarie's room door. She tried to hide her smile as she stood there and knocked on the room door. Valerie was actually just coming from the bathroom, and she just had a towel tied around her chest when she heard the knock on her room door. "Who's there please?" Valerie asked immediately, with a very polite voice. "It's me Valarie, can I come in?" Luna Fae asked, while she remained standing in the door. "Oh mum, please come in." Val
Beta Alex kept dwelling in his thoughts, as he thought of a good way to make Alpha Drake understand, and agree to leave Valerie with her father and come back again for her."Alex, let's just go inside if you don't have anything else to say to me right now, because I'm tired of standing here." Alpha Drake said,"Oh about that I'm really sorry for being quiet all this while, but please let's just go back home and come back for this girl tomorrow." Beta Alex told him."No, I'm going with her today, and right now." Alpha Drake insisted, and Beta Alex sighed."Why are you being unreasonable here?" Beta Alex asked, as he turned over to Alpha Drake fully."I'm not being unreasonable, but rather I'm doing the right thing." Alpha Drake said,"It not that you really like this girl, but you just want to take her off now, but I want you to ask yourself this question," beta Alex said, and pulsed for a while before he finally continued. "What would she be doing for you if you take her home today?"
Luna Fae slowly walked over to Valarie's room door, and stood there. She could remember how she had been treating Valerie so badly, and thought of how she was going to convince her to go ahead with the plan. She doesn't really know if she would be unhappy that she was in her room right now trying to convince her to go over to her mate pack and do what they were asking of her.Somehow she wasn't really comfortable with the fact that she was going to be talking to Valarie about the plans, but her husband has already insisted, but maybe he didn't really give it a thought before sending her there. She really needs to go back to her room, and talk to her husband again about it, before she thinks of coming back to Valerie's room. She thought, as she quickly turned around, and started walking back to their room.Immediately she walked into the room, her husband who was sitting on the couch turned over to her direction. "Are you done talking to her already?" Alpha Callan asked."No I'm not."
VALARIE'S POVI was still dwelling in my thoughts, when a knock brought me to reality. "Who's there?" I asked, but just then my room door cracked open, and Eric walked in."It's me," I heard Eric's small voice, and I smiled immediately, as he quickly rushed over to me.I made him sit beside me almost immediately, and quickly turned over to him. "I heard the maids saying you have an evil mate, is that true?" He asked, and I gasped immediately."No, that's not true, okay, they are just saying nonsense, and I'm going to report them to my father." I told him, hoping it would convince him."Are you sure about that, because I don't want you to be married to evil mate, please don't marry him if he isn't a good person." He tried to persuade me not to be married to my mate.Well I really don't want to be married to that mate of mine, but I actually have a plan which my parents had prepared already, so that's the reason I was going to go ahead and go with my so-called mate."You don't have to
I sighed softly as I grabbed the doorknob and opened the door, as I walked in. I made my way to my bed, as I had my seat, and glanced around the bedroom, like I just arrived here now. There is nothing to do here, so I'm really so bored right now, and I wish I could find something to do. I stood up immediately, as I started paving around my bedroom, looking for something to do.I'm really not used to staying an idol without doing anything. Back at my house, Luna Fae made sure I had so much work to do. Honestly I thought she was really punishing me, but I guess that was really training she was giving to me.I think I should probably go out of this bedroom, to look for something to do, instead of remaining here. I thought as I finally made my way out of my room.Stepping out of the room now, I stood still at the entrance of my room realising I really didn't know my way here.I just got here a few hours ago, and there is no way I would know my way to the kitchen. "The dining room should
I woke up early, determined to start my day by making breakfast. I made my way to the kitchen, where I found Matina, the head cook, already at work. Matina was a tall, sturdy woman with warm eyes but a stern demeanor, known for her meticulous attention to detail.“Good morning, Matina,” I greeted with a small smile.“Good morning,” she replied, looking up from the dough she was kneading.“I was thinking,” I began, “I would like to make breakfast this morning.”Matina’s eyes widened in surprise. “Alpha Drake doesn’t like any mistakes in his meals. He’s very particular.”“I understand,” I said, stepping closer. “But I have always cooked back at my parents’ place. I promise I can do this.”Matina hesitated, her brow furrowing. “it is not about your skills, . it is just… if anything goes wrong…”“Nothing will go wrong,” I assured her. “Trust me. I know how important it is to get it right.”Matina sighed, clearly torn between her duty and my request. “Alright,” she said finally, “but I’ll
I decide to dress in a loose dress that covers my showing baby bump and a scarf Rosie made for me. I throw the scarf around my neck and face to hide my growing chubby cheeks.I have borrowed one of Drake's cars—it’s not stealing since Drake is my mate—and drive myself to my parents' pack. I decide to park outside the house and walk into the gate on foot. The gate man isn’t at his post, which only adds to my advantage. I don’t want my parents notified of my coming; I want it to be a pleasant surprise before it turns to the inevitable disappointment. I walk the rest of the way to my parents' house. The house hasn’t changed. It looks just the same, everything in the exact same way I left it. I stop at the sound of voices coming from my father’s second office, detached from the house and standing on its own between the boys' quarters and the main house. I identify the voice speaking as my father’s. My father doesn’t use this office except when he wants to discuss something of great import
My heart skipped a beat when Drake knocked and entered my room later that night.I tried to pretend I was asleep. I tried to act like I didn’t know when he came back home. I tried to act like I didn’t stare from my window when he entered through the gate.I waited patiently while he bathed, ate, and changed.“Are you awake?” he asked, lingering at the door.I didn’t respond. I kept my eyes closed and willed my body not to give any indication that I wasn’t deeply at rest.“Okay,” I heard him mumble before closing the door. My stomach sank. I shouldn’t have pretended to be asleep. Now he was gone—oh.I felt a hand on my stomach and the rustling of the sheets as he sat by the edge. Relief, sweet strong relief washed over me. Maybe my plan would work.“Mummy’s asleep, isn’t she?”Is he... is he talking to my stomach? Okay.“I bet she’s tired. Don’t be too hard on her, okay? I know she’s stubborn and all, but let’s take it easy on her, okay?”I tried. Heaven knows I tried to suppress the l
Only the moon goddess knew how Drake got a turkey under an hour.“Microwave,” he said.He mentioned that he and Rosie had been working on putting a variety of food in the kitchen that I might crave, to avoid what happened that night when I made him bake cookies at 1 AM. He didn’t want to wake Rosie, so he did it himself, grumbling all the way through while I peppered him with questions.“What’s your favourite colour?”“When was your first kiss?”“What’s your favourite food?”I didn’t think he would answer, but he grumbled all the answers to me while making me the best cookies I’d ever had. Only after one piece, I didn’t want them anymore. It took a ton of self-control for Drake not to strangle me to death that night.Today, after getting me the turkey, he made sure I was full to the brim. I could literally feel the food lingering in my throat, having no space to move down. I was sure that should be unhealthy or something, but it didn’t last long. I was hungry again before I knew it.D
I thought something was wrong with Drake. After we both learned I was pregnant, he changed. I wasn’t sure if I should like it or be scared. I thought he might be suffering from mood swings.First, he stayed away from me, giving the impression that he hated me. Then, he saved me from falling and dying, even when I thought he wanted me dead. He came into my room and made me scream his name, then told me to stay the hell away from him. And now, he was calling me darling and bringing me breakfast in bed, taking my every whim seriously. I wasn’t sure how to react to that.“I wasn’t sure what your pregnant tummy would want to eat today, so I had Rosie make you a variety of things,” he said.I tried not to look too surprised when Drake brought me breakfast for the 24th time in a row. I had barely woken up. The morning sickness and lack of appetite had reduced a lot. Now all I ever wanted to do was eat, though I sometimes didn’t know what to eat and craved different things at different hours.
Valerie POVThroughout the day, I was far from being myself. Aside from the reality of now being hated by my mate for the deeds of my father, I still didn't feel all good in my body. I've tried to ignore it. Well, I guess his rejection was just what I needed to go and rest. As I approached the steps leading to the garden's exit, my vision got blurry, my steps haggard, I knew there was not much time left before I passed. “I don't feel too good, Drake…” my voice was barely above a whisper. “Just a few more steps…” I told myself… I was wrong. The last thing I remembered before total darkness was seeing Alpha Drake's eyes, as he held me from hitting my head. Opening my eyes, my blurred vision cleared to my immediate environment, I knew I wasn't in the garden and, I'm pretty sure I didn't walk to this place. The next my brain registered was the beep sound coming from the machine standing next to me… I was in the pack infirmary.I sat up, with the little energy I could muster. The pac
I spent the day in my room crying, binge-watching Gilmore Girls, and eating ice cream. I couldn't believe Drake scolded me and then told me to stay away from him after giving me the best orgasm ever. Rosie came to check on me, and I asked her to leave after requesting more ice cream. It took me a week to stop mourning. Drake did well to avoid me, always out working or locked in his study. He even went as far as telling Rosie to bring his food upstairs to his room just to avoid me. I filled my days with reading, binge-watching TV shows, and helping Rosie in the kitchen.“Oh dear child, I thought you said you’re fine?” Rosie asked, looking at me with worry.“I am,” I said. I hadn't told her what happene
I realized with horror that he was profoundly drunk. “Alpha Drake?” I called out carefully. “You are in the wrong room.”“That’s what makes me a terrible person. I mean, what kind of man mates with the daughter of the man who killed his parents? I had only one job,” Drake held up one finger and stared at it. “Only one single job, but I failed.”“Drake, you’re in the wrong room,” I tried again.Drake’s eyes snapped to mine. “You’re the girl, the daughter of my enemies.”I cursed under my breath and made my way to him. “Come on, I’ll take you to your room.” I tried to guide him back out the door to his room, but he didn’t move. He didn’t even budge. “Drake, please, let me take you to your room.”“This is my house, and I’ll stay wherever I want,” he slurred and pulled his arms free from mine. He staggered forward again and almost lost his footing.“I’m fine,” he mumbled to no one in particular.“Well then, since this is your house, I’ll let you sleep here tonight.” I turned to walk out t
A month passed with me hunting for information within the palace and occasionally helping in the kitchen. Matini and I Became good friends, and I would spend hours in the kitchen learning to cook new meals or teaching her delicacies from my home pack.I have also started to see a different side of Alpha Drake. At first, he seemed cold and unapproachable, but as I spent more time in the palace, helping in the kitchen and observing him from a distance, I began to understand why he was the way he was.“What were you expecting? You think he would just let you fall and die on the stairs?” Matini was speaking. It had been a month since I came to Drake’s pack. Matina had made it her mission to tell me all about Alpha Drake’s good side. Today was no different. After I recounted how Alpha Drake saved me from almost killing myself the day I first came to the kitchen, she wouldn’t stop teasing me.“I mean, I do not think he really likes you, but I do not think he wants you dead,” Matina said w
