“I need scotch.” Ken said to the bar man. The meeting had gone better than he expected. Just wearing a wedding band on his finger had sealed him million dollars deal. If only he could go ahead and divorce his wife to regain his freedom, but he needed to keep up the act. Dominic wouldn’t work with anyone who wasn’t a family man. Sealing the deal was only the beginning. He knew that, and that was why he had to remain a married man.
“How do you feel?” Chris asked. Ken raised his brow. Was he supposed to feel a way? “As a married man? How does it feel having a woman waiting for you at home?”
Ken grunted, “Man, I just got married today. I haven’t spent a day with my wife, and you are already asking me about married life. I don’t want to deal with it now.”
Chris chuckled, “Shouldn’t you be with your bride now? I bet she is waiting at home for you in some sexy lingerie.”
Ken groaned. The thought of Kate in something sexy made his dick hard. He didn’t want to think about it. Kate was just some innocent woman, and he was going to destroy her if he keeps thinking of her that way. She had always been too beautiful in his eyes, but she was also like his younger sister.
Although, he had none, he had treated her as one. He drank his scotch in one go, “I will destroy her. Did you see her? She is just an innocent girl.
Chris frowned, “Are you saying you won’t bed your wife? Why did you get married to her then?”
He requested for another drink and took it all, “Because I am a selfish bastard that can’t afford to see her with another man. I don’t deserve her, but I also don’t think there is any man who deserves her out there. She is just too pure.”
Ken smiled, “You are confused, man. Did you see the way she looks at you? It will be difficult for you to resist.”
As if he doesn’t know that already. That was why he had prepared separate room for them. He would do his best to avoid her at all cost. She wouldn’t become the weakness he doesn’t have. Being his wife alone was dangerous.
He had so many enemies out there, who would want nothing than to just hurt him or anyone close to him. But, when they discover he doesn’t care for his wife, they wouldn’t go near her.
“Aren’t you going home tonight?”
“I am trying to avoid it, but I am going.”
He took another glass of drink and patted Chris at the back. “I will see you soon.”
Chris nodded focusing on his drink with a smile. He never thought he was going to see the day Ken became a married man.
Kate sat on the bed in the master room with the sexiest night gown she had; it had a cute bow at the front. She thought it was sexy and at the same time cute. There was no way Ken would resist her if he saw her this way.
She wasn’t going to let her wedding night go in vain. Flora, the head maid, had shown her to her room, but she had moved her things into Ken room instead.
How does she expect a married couple to use different room?
She sat upright to allow blood flow in her leg. She had been sitting on the bed for hours expecting Ken back home, but there was no sign he was coming anytime soon. Soon, she was going to have cramps on her legs, but it was all for the greater good. She wouldn’t mind unless she achieved her aim.
Kate had started dozing off when she heard the door opened. She opened her eyes with speed, and tried to get up only to fall back on the bed. The blood flow in her leg had being cut short from sitting for a long time, and it was difficult to stand properly. Ken had paused at the door, his eyes narrowed at her.
“What are you doing here? I told Flora to give you your room.”
Kate tried standing again. She wasn’t going to have a conversation this serious while she looked like a fool sitting on the bed. “She told me. I refuse to use a different room from my husband.”
Ken walked slowly like a lion haunting for a prey. Maybe, it was a bad idea that she hadn’t listened to the instruction he had gave, but she was going to stand on her ground regardless. She wouldn’t back down now. A little conviction and proper communication was that was needed to convince him. It had always worked with her father, so there was the possibility that it would work on Ken too.
“So, what are you going to do? Disorder my order as your husband.” Ken asked, moving closer to her with ever step he took. “Are you sure you can endure the consequences that come with disobeying me? For every action, there is always a consequence, princess.”
For some reason, her sense of reasoning had took absent, and all she could do was shook her head slowly. Ken gave what looked closed to a smile, “That’s what I thought, Princess. Now, you will be a good girl and move back to the room you were assigned.”
Kate scurried off the bed, and found her footings on the floor. The house was huge, and she could barely remember the room to the room Flora had shown her, plus, her brain was on a break. She leaned closed to the door, and lay on the floor, finding it hard to believe, she was supposed to live apart from her husband.
Kate had woken early the next day to catch a glance of her husband before he left for work, but on arriving at the table, she saw a plate for one.
“Flora.” She yelled.
The head maid ran towards the table with an apron tied on her neck, “Is there any problem, ma?”
She pointed at the table, “Why do we have a serving for one? What about my husband?”
Flora glanced at the door, because glancing back at her. “I am sorry, ma, but the boss already left.” She removed something from her front pocket. “He gave me this to hand over to you. He said you can get anything you want with that.”
Kate received the unlimited cared from Flora with a raised brow. So, that was how it was going to be. She was only allowed to be his wife by name, nothing else. She nodded in amazement. That was not going to happen. She left her food unattended to and got dress.
In record time, she was done and ready to know the reason she deserved to be ignored by her husband, and why he was working so hard when they had just gotten married. He was the boss, doesn’t he deserve some sort of break from work to spend time with his new wife.
The moment she stepped outside the mansion, a huge guy stepped in front of her, blocking her access to take a step further. Kate stepped aside, but he also blocked her. Annoyed, she stomped her feet on the ground, “What’s your problem?”
The guy response was a grunt.
“Excuse me. I have to go out now.”
The guy grunt again.
Frustrated, she dialed her husband number, and thankfully, he picked up immediately.
“What’s going on?”
Kate sighed, “Hello to you too, husband. There is a strange guy at the entrance of our door.”
“A strange guy?”
“Yes. He refused to let me pass. Yet, he isn’t saying a word. Should I call the police?”
“No, princess. That’s Steve, he is your personal bodyguard henceforth.”
Kate gaze moved to Steve to take a closer look at him. The guy looked like he could break a person into two just with his hand. And why did she suddenly need a bodyguard? She had been doing well all by herself all her lives without a bodyguard. “I don’t need a bodyguard.”
“Of course, you do, but you don’t know that yet.”
She clenched her teeth, and formed her hand in a fist, “I said I don’t need one. I have been doing fine all my life without some giant breathing down my neck.” The said giant grunt again.
“Well, you are not who you used to be anymore, and as my wife you need bodyguard. You can’t leave the house, unless Steve gets permission from me.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“It simply means, I have to know every of your movement. If I don’t approve it, then you can’t go there.”
Kate blinked. That was insane. “Ken, I am your wife not your prisoner. I deserve the right to my movement.”
“Well, princess. You belong to me, and I hold the right to do whatever I want with you. If you have anywhere to go tell Steve, he will inform me, and then I will let you know if you can go or not.”
Kate stared at Steve. “Does he even talk? All he did is grunt.”
“Well, now that you have called me. You can tell where you want to go.”
How was she supposed to tell him that she wanted to pay him a visit and demand what her offense was? She grumbled, “Nowhere. I am bored here. There is nothing to do, and I just want to go sightseeing.”
“Steve can take you sightseeing, but don’t expect to be out for long time. Outside can be quite dangerous.”
“Yes. Yes, I have heard you. Can I go sightseeing now?”
“Give the phone to Steve.”
She handed the phone to Steve, who spoke in a voice so low that she couldn’t hear a word of what he said. After a while, he grunt and handed the phone back to her. She hung up now wanting to say anything to her husband turned jailer.
If this was his way of playing it, then he was going to see her
Steve was nothing but a live CCTV. She could hardly move anywhere without his eyes on her. She had tried to hide from his sight, but whenever she tried to peek at him, their eyes meet. How was she supposed to visit her husband when she could barely break free from her bodyguard? She decided that to disarm ones enemy, the best way was to get to know the enemy better. She went back to the car, this time she insisted on sitting beside him. “So, Steve, are you married?”A grunt. She chuckled as if it was funny. There had to be something that would make him talk. Getting to know people better was the easiest way to know how to trick them.“What do you like best?”No response.“Is being a body guard a dream job or did you just find yourself doing it?”No response. It wasn’t working as she expected. The only command he had listened to was, ‘stop’, ‘go’ and the directions she had given him. She knew he could talk because he had spoken to her husband, so why was he refusing to speak
"Ask my father? How do you mean, ask my father?" she asked with a low voice."I have no say in that right now, and I need you to get back to the house right this minute.""I am your wife, and you have no right to treat me like a trash bag," she flared up."No one is ever treating you like a trash bag. If you need answers to the questions going on in your head, talk to your father. But right now, I need you to get back to the house now."She was dumbfounded, not sure what to say or think."Hmmmm..." she sighed deeply, her head bowed in a sad mood."Tell your bodyguard to get me home. 7:15 a.m. Ken slept off in the office and woke up to the vibrating sound of his phone. "Grrrr, grrrr, grrrr, what the!!! Can't a grown-up man enjoy his own peace?" he grumbled, his fingers squeezing his face."Who could it be this early?" The vibration continued while he struggled to get his phone. "Oh, why is her father calling this early?" he wondered to himself. I left her looking hale and healthy at the hospital, only to get called at the middle of the night she's in a coma," Ken replied."Ken, we both know how important wedding nights mean to women.
