N'DJAMENA, CHAD.
She could hear the melodious sound of birds chirping outside her window, reminding her just how much of a good soul she is. She always tries to feed them each morning with water, grains and bread crumbs, she enjoys doing that all the time as it takes her mind away from so many problems. The fact that they don't leave the place till after being full makes this prodigious amount of happiness to swarm in her chest every morning.
She is doing something good for once.
That peace got shattered as soon as her sleaze phone rang from the bedside table reminding her she didn't put it on airplane mood the night before. She knew about her meeting bit she wants to delay it as much as she could to piss them off like they fucking did the day before.
"If I could do it, I would've wring their fucking necks with my bare hands. Are they so heartless that they had to wake me up at this ungodly hour? I'm going to make them pay." She grumbled into the phone taking away the plum quilt away from her body to stand up from the bed she was lying on.
Salima called to tell her again about the so called meeting with the government officials again, she needs to be open and done with this as soon as possible if she wants her sleep intact. Whatever it is they have on their plate today, she is ready to feed them right back with it.
She made her way to her bathroom to take a bath but she stared at her face in the mirror looking at how her hairs lay in disarray on her head. Those black tresses know how to wrestle on her head in the night which makes her angry just by the sight of it, dishabille. It has always been one of the many things that gets her late since they are always grappling at night. Her caps don't do anything to keep the mane tight.
There is also a drool by the corner of her mouth which she cringes at sight of. She is a heavy sleeper alright and she is also the worst bedmate seeing her legs and hands can't stay in one place. She always lie down all over the bed, each crevice of the bed will be creased and wrinkled like a boxing match took place by the time she awakens. She's prayed countless times to stop it but nothing happens so she stopped.
It is unique and so Suhayr like!
Brushing that by the side, she made her way to the shower and turn it on, not before removing her caramel silk nightgown. Her bathroom isn't the fanciest nor does it have the great amount of abundance. Like it is said, she is not the wealthiest person nor is she the most impoverished, she is just a little above being insufficient. Being in an apartment alone doesn't mean she is rich, she is just fending trying to get another source of income that brings more money to help her get a lavish life.
She loves being wealthy, so much, who doesn't want superabundance and extravagance?
Done with bathing, she wrap a rouge fluffy towel around her body. Is it weird for her to love towels more than she loves shoes? Because whenever she wraps herself around a fluffy fuzzy towel, she feels comfortable and just elated. And she also likes roaming around with towel when she takes bath, she will just feel like not removing it from her body and mingle around her home alone. One of the reasons why she wants to always stay alone in her home, just her and herself.
Rubbing some lotions to her body, she moved away from the stool to get something she can wear. She wore her all time favorite jam boot cut pants and rosewood blouse with surplice neckline, raglan sleeves. Her hair is made up in braid bun bang so it will help her wrap around a salmon coloured medium veil that she will wear. She took her jelly loafers, bucket bag and left the apartment with a slight sway to her figure.
She needs to go and get food from the cafe just before her office which hasn't close until then, but has notice to leave the block too. Ha, they don't even know how to fight for their right. She won't be so opaque, she will make sure everything she has ever dreamt of comes to reality through this. It is her last hope of lavishness.
"One cup of caramel coffee with extra whip cream and two doughnuts." She said to the receptionist who yelled it inside the kitchen behind her.
"I don't like that we are leaving here very soon but the place Madamé was given is better than this." The girl at the counter commented trying to make small talks with Suhayr.
She is amongst the top ten people Suhayr could tolerate since that is her favorite café and they serve everything best. She never faced any problem or obstruction from them, the girl even respects her though she is older than her. Suhayr can't tell what her name is even with a gun pointed to her skull, she is clueless about too much and she knows that.
"Yeah, so I heard." She looked around the transparent glass doors to look at her office just opposite them. There are no opulent cars outside which means the government officials are yet to arrive.
"Here, enjoy." The girl gave her her order, she was quick to collect and bid adieu then she disappeared from there in seconds.
"Good morning, where are they?" She asked Salima as soon as her foot landed in the office where her workers are slacking around no work to do. This is one of the reason why she is feeling this urge to give up, she will fight before doing so though. Her ego is too fed to let those people match all over her.
"They are yet to arrive so I think we have time to think things through." She led the way to the conference room where Suhayr placed all the things she's bought and suspire in fatigue.
"What to do now?" Her head tilt to the side waiting for her advise, she is like her personal advisor.
"Go get your kohl and apply it first because you look grotesque." Salima grinned to her boss who gave her a deathly glare but stood up anyway.
Suhayr grumbled underneath her breath when a man stepped forward and sternly gave her a look that has her shutting up. Not because his face was scary or his eyes are scolding her but he is the only man she respects in the whole government officials that are visiting her. The man knew how to placate her and clam her nerves when she is about to turn the place upsidedown. The people irritate her all the time so with his face around, it helps her get over their stupidity.
"Mr. El-Kanemi." He gave a tight lipped smile, almost raising his hand to shake it then remembered that she is a woman, not some man he finished closing deal with, he let them get stacked into his pants pocket.
"As if that is supposed to tell me what the hell you are doing in my company." Her perfect brow didn't falter nor did her puckered bratty mouth.
Nothing could intimidate her about him though she could see the government officials and her staff recoiling, as if telling her it's time to back down. Don't they know that she is never one to back down no matter what? She knew who he is, but him acting arrogant only made her blood boil to the extent she can't even look at him without burning with rage. Just a sight of him and his name is enough to make her go fucking pissed.
He is the cause of her less sleeps.
There was never a person that makes her mad like this man. She has asked Salima about him the day before so she could know who she is tackling with beforehand, she likes coming to a war prepared. Not really war, but everything about her is a war with flames along with volcano and inferno all about. And especially when she is about to face an arch enemy whom she's never met ever. Him just wanting to take over her company is what makes her mad, she doesn't like it.
He is the finest specie she's ever seen in her entire life. Not because he is too handsome for his own good, that is not the deal there. She's seen far more handsome men in her hometown, far more. It has almost reached to the point where she can't find anyone ugly in her hometown. It's either this one is taller than the other, has more hair than the other, is more fairer than the other and some minor things like that.
But half the men in her hometown are drop dead handsome, they could get any woman they want, except her of course.
She's been asked out quite a few times in her whole nineteen years old. She could admit, they are brave to ask her out knowing she could embarrass, debase, humiliate or even verbally assault them with her words. Whenever she is in a bad mood, she turned into a complete vile woman, in good mood, she is a bitch. The one you don't want to cross even in your nightmare, she is bad to cross. She knows that and it thrills her all the damn time knowing the effect she has on people.
But this man in front of her is every inch handsome. Normally, she never goes for fair men, she don't like them. And even with this one, it's not like she likes him in a way because she doesn't, not a bit. She just got to admit what she thinks all the time, even if it is to herself. Most of the times, she can't keep her mouth shut, will say it out once and for all. And if she doesn't act fast into describing him, she will say it out to their face and won't care.
Right from his buzz barbed hair, it makes him look sexy and in some way, intimidating. Down to his bushy brows which fit his face in his own term, would've looked hideous on any other person. Leading his curled dark lashed that if hers aren't longer, she would've probably being envious of those hairs fringing his oval shaped eyes, a combination of round and almond. His thin crooked IV nose stood in the middle atop his wide sensual lips, and what colour is that she is seeing?!
His lower full lip is pinker than hers even with it's dryness. Maybe when saturated, it probably is going to yaw bubblegum pink when done. Moving down to his narrow jaw, making her lick her lips in process. The sides of his face to his jaw made a cool scruff of hairs, making her fingers tingle. What on earth happened to this man? Did he take his time to create himself or is he just too special?
He is also tall, and she thought she was average standing five foot four. The man seems to be stretching up ahead of her, if she were one to feel intimidated, she would've felt that because of his height. And inside that denim Captain America slim fit suit jacket is one heck of a robust body. One thing the people in her hometown don't bother about, exercise, weight lifting, they find it useless while she always drools at magazines. The fabric strained against his chest and biceps in a really really hot way that she could only think about naughty things.
Well, the difference between him and the handsome men she sees everyday is his height and robustness, apart from that, he is plain. Thank God, she is not into fair men. She will go for twenty dark ones before glancing back at a fair one. Not her type.
Well, whatever!
"He is the investor that wants to buy the whole block." My obese like she named him, the man she respects amongst all the government officials explained and thank goodness she's finished describing him in her head. She could move past his attractiveness to something handy.
"Oh, the absentee from yesterday? Let's go to the office then." She strut down to where the office is not wanting to get caught around with this man or she will say the bad words that will have everyone glaring at her soul, not that she cares.
On the other hand, Sa'eed felt disrespected by the wee woman that just strut her way down the corridor expecting them to follow her, adding extra sway to her hips. If not for Mu'adh's hand moving around his arms, he wouldn't have looked up and follow the other officials that move. He didn't like that other people leading him when he has always been thought to be the leader, the alpha king. She dare disrespect him like this? He will make sure he crumble her to the floor and her arrogance will diminish before the meeting is over.
He could hear Mu'adh snickering from beside him knowing he has a whiff of what he is suddenly brooding about. It's no secret that he hates been disrespected and hates when someone tries leading him. This woman is clearly disrespecting him and if she were in the Palace back in Maiduguri, he would've thrown her into the dark dungeon so she will learn her lesson.
"So now what do you have to say? I'm really hungry, you have to excuse me while I eat during the meeting. Now let's proceed." Suhayr gave them a cheeky but daring smile as she declared to the members of the meeting.
"This is unprofessional." One of the officials enunciated which brought up one of Suhayr perfectly arched brow.
"And who said I was trying to act professional? It's not like I'm attempting to impress any of you here, I'm I?" She exhorted biting her straight pearls into the doughnut whipped with syrup that has her moaning, irritating the men further or turning them on?
"Alright." The obese man began trying to calm down the tensing atmosphere of those alpha men feeling disrespected by what she is doing from someone their daughter's age, "Now how much are you trying to sell the apartment and company, Ms. Khalid?" He further asked.
"I'm not going to sell it you know that. This company has my heart buried in it so don't even try saying that." She talked with some of the doughnut in her mouth making some of them cringe.
"You have to sell it, Ms. Khalid. Everyone around this block already sold their piece of property so just give up already." The hotheaded man amongst the officials taunted which only made her chuckle and rose her legs on the table crossing them, letting them see the colour beneath her loafers while her back lowers to the chair.
"Are you going to force me because you have the government beside you? I can talk to the president about this and you know that right?" She let out a sadistic smile making them narrow their eyes at her as though they want to threaten her.
"We are not threatening you here but doing what is good for you. If you give this share of yours, you are going to get a lot of money that will help you buy much larger space than this. If you want, we can even build it for you but this block is the part that will make best background for a school." Mu'adh was the one who talk, you could see a hint of cheeky smile that he is trying to conceal so his best friend won't eat him alive.
"You are talking as though I'm a gold digger." Suhayr implied tauntingly which has everyone in the room giving out an exasperated sigh.
"Well, aren't you one?" Sa'eed question his eyes narrowed to slits as he gave her one of his glares that has every maid cowering but she merely raise a brow at him.
What the fucking hell?!
N'DJAMENA, CHAD."I won't argue with you on that seeing I'm starving and peckish, for money. But, I don't think you have enough to offer me now so I suggest you keep your mouth sealed." Suhayr lectured to Sa'eed who could only place his right hand under the right side of his cheek grazing his little gruff by the side in thought, tickling his palm in process."You can't ask for too much money when you don't own an empire. It's just a small company and an apartment but you are making a gigantic fuss." The hotheaded man had to butt his head in again eliciting a groan from her mouth in anger. She should really keep that man in his sit before he makes her all more pissed. She lets her cool face stay there though, she won't give him the satisfaction."I don't know about you, but this company is my life. And if you dare to demean t
N'DJAMENA, CHAD."That doesn't matter but for your information, I'm nineteen. We are going to get married right now in the mosque." She stood up with nonchalance seeing as Sa'eed stared at her as though she's hit her head somewhere and is now mentally unstable. Not that she cared what he thinks of her at that time, no scratch that, at anytime. She needs to have her plan set in motion, she hates delaying when she feels like something is important and now her priority is getting married to this rich El-Kanemi guy.She can't afford letting him slip off her finger, he looks as cunning and sly as she is. One wrong move from her, her plan will fall and follow the drain, that she can't afford. She needs that last name to her name as soon as possible, she doesn't care in what way. Whether legal or illegal, wholeheartedly or selfishly, she needs that royal name related to he
N'DJAMENA, CHAD.Suhayr immediately left the mosque to go call the two people she knew would not hesitate to come and help her if she gives them some money, not that they won't without the money. They are her customers and like buying their stuff from her shop because she always makes discount for them, that is all because her mother respects them for some unknown reason, she also does. If her mother loves an ant, Suhayr would definitely respect that ant for the rest of her life. They liked her and always tells her that when she gets married, she should make sure they are there. Now they are needed and without any hesitation, she knew they are going to come in addition to their house not being far away from the mosque. This come in handy for her, she don't want to change her mind or let that man change his, this is what she needs at the moment.
N'DJAMENA, CHAD."Why not ask Ms. Khalid to help us with one of her bedrooms? I heard she has two bedrooms in her apartment. She won't mind us squatting there for the night huh?" His tone was serious making Sa'eed worried that his friend swallowed something poisonous. He is never serious during his first wife's burial."I don't think that is a good idea." He muttered stealing a glance at Suhayr who is busy staring at the photos of their wedding which one of her so called Uncles took earlier. If he doesn't know any better, he'd think she is fan girling inside."Why no- don't tell me you have killed her already?" The voice took another dramatic turn after the first sentence. That is what Sa'eed has been avoiding, the drama that always comes after he gets serious."Don't be stupid. I'll talk to her about it." He saw her perked u
N'DJAMENA, CHAD."I'm leaving for my room and don't come in now or you might see something you can't resist. And you'll have to sleep uneasily the whole night." She released a naughty smile then ambled to her room all the while boiling in anger. What he's said hasn't wore off till then, she don't have the energy or she would've made his night as uncomfortable as she could. The man had the nerve to say nothing could turn him on from her body? He doesn't know what he is getting himself into but she will give him time, she will take him unforeseen. She hates sharing her bedroom nor her bed, no, she hates sharing her apartment in general. If the rooms don't have their bathrooms, she wouldn't have allowed them to grace their presence in
N'DJAMENA, CHAD.Due to Tasneem's shriek, her sister awoke and so does her mother Urshia and sister Thuraiya looking horrified at the duo. Suhayr is getting the beat of her life by Tasneem so they only shook their heads and help Suhayr or she gets bruises on that sensitive skin of hers. They are used to Tasneem's quick hands, she likes beating people for littlest mistakes but her beating Suhayr means something big which they are very much anticipating to know. What has she done for her friend to hit her like a lunatic?"What is going on here, young ladies?" Urshia demanded after settling Tasneem on the bed while Suhayr is placed on Thuraiya's bed, they are watching them weirdly.Tasneem is still glaring at a
N'DJAMENA, CHAD."Why not come with me to Nigeria? At least I will get that I have a family I can call my own?" Suhayr proposed rendering the other occupants of the room quite, stunned and speechless."You are going to Nigeria?" Was Urshia and Thuraiya's question since they don't know about her flight that leaves in five hours. She wanted to tell them before Urshia burst out earlier and now it came as a shocker. If one doesn't understand and experience the difficulty it takes to earn the comfort provided by their loved ones, than they will never value it. The most important thing is to experience the difficulty and learn to value hard work behind all the given comfort. Some might think she likes being
BORNO EMIRATE COUNCIL.Her Royal Majesty Hajiya Fareeda Dan Maliki stared deeply at traditional maroon carpet spread around her living room watching as the maids try clearing the tea she spilled all over it. She just got the news from her grandson that he go married to a Chadian because she forced him to marry her. It was an interesting story for her to hear seeing as Chadians, most especially the women are quite egoistic and would never bow down to propose to a man, that is uncalled for so imagine her surprise after hearing the news."I got married." Her favorite grandson had said just few minutes ago which result to her spilling the tea from her old fashioned ancestral golden cup embroidered with ruby beads.
BORNOEMIRATE COUNCIL."Ha, you are definitely pregnant with twins and bet me!" Maysoon grinned extra widely staring at Suhayr who could only narrow her eyes in annoyance at her little cousin sister."Why do you want me to be pregnant with twins and where the heck did you get that philosophy from?" Suhayr glared at her simply irritated because of so many reasons standing right in front of her that she didn't want to believe.Who would've thought she was going to fall pregnant when her son just clocked two years old?Thank goodness Sa'eed was joking when he gave her the tickets to Mauritius a year ago and simply whispered they are going to make babies. Had that happened, she was sure she would've killed Sa'eed with her bare hands then bury him underneath a hill
BORNO EMIRATE COUNCIL.Two years later.A bright smile lured it's way to her face, the sun beaming down on her face feeling a sense of accomplishment. She's been waiting for this day since forever and now that it is finally here, she can't wait to get it over and done with. She's written what she wanted to say so many days ago and now, she feels like a teenager presenting again in front of the whole class not that someone like her has ever been intimidated by anyone. Two years is a long time to change someone, she has also changed too like every other person out there. She feels emotions now, so many of them."Are you ready?" The love of her life questioned, his arms looping around her waist as he place his head on her shoulder."More than ready. I just want to get this done and over with. Where is that troublemaker?" She inquires about their one year old son who could ruin the room without as much as losing a tinge of energy reserved for the day. She is su
ABDEEN PALACE, EGYPT."What is the commotion all about?" Suhayr ask one of her personal maids hearing the sounds of people talking, the palace in chaos for the first time since her arrival. The place has always been quite, people talk in hush whispers."Someone came and he wants to see you but the princes and the pharaoh are not letting him come through, your great majesty." Sara explained, her hands deep into the concoction she is making for Suhayr even though she knows she won't take it. That is her work, to always make it each blessed morning whether or not she takes it is not her problem."Me? Who could that be?" Suhayr wondered who would want to see her and her brothers are not letting him. That only leads to one person, none other than Sa'eed because he is the only one they hate from the core of their heart. She stood up then took calming breaths knowing she should not make stupid moves while she is just in her first trimester. It has been a month s
ABDEEN PALACE, EGYPT."What happened, dear?" Her father cooed, wrapping her in his arms like any loving father would. His heart is filled with joy when she rushed to him and gave him a tight hug, he has been wanting her to do that for a long time and she did albeit crying. It tore his him into half knowing he is powerful enough to crush anyone without as much as wasting his energy but his daughter is here crying.Whoever it is that did this, will suffer greatly."I hate him, father! I abhor him so much, I don't want to see him ever again in my life. He, he sent me packing because of a stupid truth behind our marriage! He is not worth it." She cried to her father's chest for so many things that went wrong in her life for the past few weeks. She didn't even get to cry for her biological mother's death with real tears, she didn't do that then but now, she can't hold the tears. She agreed that tears and crying makes us feel more human and sated when they are
BORNO EMIRATE COUNCIL."I seriously got scared for a minute there." Suhayr yanked herself away from Sa'eed's embrace while blushing. She felt stupid leaving Chad like that without second thought or even question herself whether that is ever going to happen. Tasneem would never do that to her even if the earth is in her palms for him."You need not be, Leontios, you will always be the perfect candidate. Protocols and etiquettes don't matter at all, no one could surpass you. You, are the perfect choice. There is no one greater than you are." He dive his head and took her lips with his in a passionate kiss filled with love. They both missed each other, so much.He chose his words perfectly like Elizabeth Bourgeret had said, 'A man in love is cautious with the decisions he makes, the words he says and the actions he takes, so he never purposefully cause her pain. He believes in her when she struggles believing in herself. He i
N'DJAMENA, CHAD.Suhayr changed into cotton blend block maxi dress featuring a scoop neckline and regular sleeves. Her feet are clasped in new pair of sandals that sat comfortably on her before they left the hospital together with Hakim and Salima who came immediately after hearing that she is in Chad. They don't need to settle any bill as Sa'eed has already done that, she can't thank the man enough no matter what she does. He saved her life, he left his country to come save her like a true hero. So this day is coming, the day Suhayr feels gratefulness that ran deep to her core, that makes her pulse thud and throb in a way she can't explain.'I don’t regret the things I’ve done, I regret the things I didn’t do when I had the chance.' She thought bitterly in her chest, this is bad. They arrive at the apartment complex with thirteen storeys, very beautiful and looks quite expensive but she didn't question H
N'DJAMENA, CHAD."You are saying that you married him for his money?" Hakim's brows scrunched lowly as he scratch his growing beard in wonder. He knows Suhayr in and out but he never thought she would give away her freedom for money, that sounds absurd to his ears or he might be hearing things. This is something so unlike the Suhayr he knows."What can I do? You know the company wasn't bringing much money then and I need it to survive, don't I?" She got all defensive seeing the judgement clouding his vision, he has always being judgemental and she hates him for that. He is her best friend, they grew up together knowing each other's flaws and because of his flaw, she hardly tells him all her secret and prefer to do it with Tasneem who will fan girl and support her even if she is wrong. She will then make her realise things one after the other, she appreciates that."
N'DJAMENA, CHAD.White, pure white!Everywhere is white, she is staring at the white place where everything white stared back at her like mockery. The walls are white, the mattress where some people are sitting on in white also. There are three of them and their backs are facing her, one male and two females all discussing something that looks intense and serious. Their hands are flailing around as they speak, their backs moving closer to each other so they can listen to one another. She squint her eyes trying to see what is going on and why the whole place is white and so boring to eyes. But why the people look awfully family with the way they talk and glance at one another. Is this another room in Sa'eed's chamber? The man seems to be obsessed with white but who the heck brought her back to his home? Last she remember, they were in Egypt and she ran away after their night got intense. No, she was even in a hotel room in Chad when some men came to assassinate h
N'DJAMENA, CHAD.Sa'eed panted as he stared at the hotel above him knowing that is the address given to them about where Suhayr is. He didn't waste any second but made his way inside where the receptionists are staring in a horrific way at the elevator, like something is about to jump out and kill them all which confirmed his thoughts and worst nightmare. He moved slowly not to make them more alarmed and frightened, they didn't notice him and he doesn't have the time of the day so he banished the thought of not scaring them. He banged his hand on the table, they jumped in fright and look at him, all girls."Room 151!" He didn't questioned, he is demanding the card or key to that room and if they love their lives, they won't question him. His eyes are basically burning down the whole place, it won't take much from him to burn them too along with the bricks. Their eyes rounded even more at the mention of the room."Here, Sir." In fright, one of them gave the card
