The guards turned their attention towards him.
“Get back to your cell! Right now!”
Garvin ignored the orders backed at him. A travesty. He folded the sleeves of his over-sized garment and began hopping around on his toes like a rabbit, loosening up his stiff limbs, as his feet landed on the ground they kicked dust into the air.
“Get back to your cell now prisoner or you die!”
Garvin kept ignoring them like they weren't even there. The front line was forced to engage. Two of the guards pulled out lances and advanced aggressively towards him.
“It’s been a while since I let loose, now come at me with all you've got… and don’t hold back, because I won't!”
He leaped into the air with tremendous ability, concocting his body in ways not thought to be possible, producing a powerful roundhouse kick that ripped the spear tips of the lances away. His feet kissed the ground gracefully and he pushed himself forward, barreling towards the two disarmed guards. Fingers sunk deep into their throats and they found themselves floating in mid-air. This prompted the remainder of the cavalry to engage. The cellmates watched on as Garvin put on a clinical display of brute force and finesse. He tossed the suspended guards both in their respective directions and they smashed onto the cell doors, bending the bars.
What made it amazing was that the hallway was completely cramped, two people couldn’t stand side by side and fit in that cavity called a corridor, that pocket-sized space couldn’t allow for the kinds of acrobatic movements Garvin was pulling off. One punch after another the guards were pushed backward, closer to the exit. At one point Garvin swung a kick so mighty, one of the guards achieved flight, only the ceiling managed to break his air travel, were it not for the concrete roof he would have gone a few feet higher. The impact of his collision with the ceiling was so powerful that cracks sprouted upon contact and spread across the entire ceiling.
The guards grunted in pain with each blow they received. Garvin didn’t seem to tire down, not one bit. His intensity stayed the same from the beginning of the fight onward, it could have been increasing as well. He managed to push the onslaught all the way to the entrance and out of the cellblock, onto open land.
At that point the guards were questioning whether they had the capabilities to go up against a beast like him, landing a hit on him was impossible, they hadn't managed it since they started the brawl.
“I do not sense any life inside you. You are just dolls, controlled by a magician, you have no souls. And so I shall feel no remorse when I kill you!”
The atmosphere decayed quickly. Garvin had picked up the spearheads he managed to sever with his kick, clutching them tightly in his palms. He dashed once more towards the guards, his feet barely touching the ground. Instead of running towards them, it seemed like he was leaping. The first guard to go down saw nothing but a blur. One moment he was in front of him, the next he was gone, all he felt was an uncomfortable sensation around his throat. As he looked down he saw the huge snag along his neck, blood gushing out violently. Garvin dug the spearheads into his torso, utilizing them as handles to maintain his grip as he tossed the guard towards his colleagues. Some managed to dodge the flying body, those that were caught in the projectile’s pathway were taken down.
He charged once more, picking up a fallen sword and tossing it towards another guard. It split his lower abdomen releasing his bowels as he was flung aside by the sheer force of the sword on impact. The rest of the guards had their meaningless lives flash before their very eyes. As blood splattered across the grass, one by one the guards were taken down swiftly with no remorse. The humorous lazy eyes dotting Garvin’s face turned cold and desolate, empty of thought and emotion. He was a man possessed, unrecognizable.
By the time the rest of the prisoners had stepped out of the prison, Garvin had laid waste the entire cavalry by himself. His garments were soaked with blood dripping off them. He wiped a streak of blood that had splattered across his face flapping his hands to shake the residue off. He turned back and he was met with dreadful looks. The rest of the captives examined the carnage in disbelief, unable to comprehend. They would have never thought Garvin was a man capable of such wretched actions. If only they knew the monster hiding behind that mask.
“The rest of the soldiers will arrive here soon enough so we better get moving.”
The crowd was still stunned. None answered back. Garvin decided to approach them but they retreated, spooked like they had all seen a vurhan in their midst.
“Come on let's go! Unless you want to stay behind. Those who want to follow me I suggest you do so. If you want to stick behind that's fine by me.”
Felista pushed her way through the crowd and dashed towards Garvin frantically.
“Are you okay? Are you hurt?!”
she ravenously run her fingers through his torso to check for any cuts or bruises, not minding one bit about the blood tainting her hands. Her face was folded in genuine worry.
“Stop, stop! I'm fine okay.”
The captives were still unresponsive until Felista turned to them and barked, “Is that a way to treat the person who just granted you freedom? Now all of you quit standing around and let us get a move on.”
One by one the people crossed the puddle of blood and piles of dead bodies to the other side, joining the group ready to make their way out of the prison. Soon the rest of the captives, agitated, joined in and so the journey began.
They made their way out of the prison and into the woods. Defectors State was a pretty huge state compared to the other states. There were lots of prisons and lots of residents that resided in the state and were imprisoned soon after the invasion. Garvin wondered if they were the only prisoners who were broken free, or were the rest of the prisons patterned around the state also granted liberation.
He would soon come to find out that the entire Kingdom had been granted freedom, and that the rest of the captives around the conquered states were on the same route they were taking, towards the village near the forest at the border of Free State. They were like birds migrating towards a breeding ground. The Heads’ motives for the massive evacuation of the conquered states were still unknown. North Angus and Defectors State were the states that were fully conquered by the tyrant. The rest of the states were protected from colonial rule by the Vurhanil boundary set by Dakario. It was bigger than most people thought. Furthermore, it was practically impregnable.
Back at the capital, the Tyrant Ladzgery Tyndale was ready to begin his match towards the rendezvous point. He had sent out his saints to track down Albert who was at that time, a day’s journey away from the new capital of the regime in District Dark, Sal's village.
Alicia on the other hand was hours away from entering the Forgotten Temples of South Angus for the first time in her life, ready to uncover the secrets of the spiritual realm. Everything seemed to be strategically falling into place. All was going according to plan, according to Alvatrone’s plan, the administrative head. But like all his plans there were always anomalies unaccounted for that usually popped up and messed everything up.
He found a way to fix his earlier plan of the invasion. Most of the heads believed it to be a fluke. But all in all the end result was what they had desired. In his next phase, however, the anomaly unaccounted for was bigger than the previous one. As the spies made their way back to the headquarters with valuable information, one that would dismantle the entire plan Alvatrone had set in motion. The covenant had not been broken at all. They had no knowledge that the covenant had been renewed and the new dark bender was Alicia Iko. Which meant that the anomaly was the other half of the covenant keeper was still alive, somewhere.
“He is active again! He is out there roaming our inter-realm link, or as the mortals call it, the Independent States.”“But of course he can only manifest his physical form inside the barrier, the celestial walls allow him to do so, outside the inter-realm link he cannot manifest. Therefore his power remains limited to his followers inside the walls.”“Yes of course, with the reduction of his followers his power has substantially reduced, therefore he does not have the power of creation now, so he is no threat. Let us allow him to continue roaming the inter-link realm, it is the least we can do to entertain a traitor like him.”The rest of the beings nodded in agreement. A regular meeting had been arranged. The greater council of heaven was called upon to discuss issues largely affecting the events of one of the realms. Heaven realm was where celestial beings lived. There existed five realms in total; Heaven realm, Hell realm, Spiritual Realm, Null realm, and Earth realm. All the oth
She arrived and knocked softly on the door, even though it was wide open and she could clearly see him sitting on one of the chairs, facing the entrance.“Come in,”“Thank you Mr. Valienta”she replied, walking towards the table and placing the basket on it.“Mrs. Melo packed some supplies for you, there’s a whole bunch of vegetables and this week's batch of meat we got from the hunting session yesterday, I'm sure you're going to love the rabbit meat, it's delicious! It should cover the rest of the week. I also brought you those petals to put in your tea. They help in numbing the pain a little bit so be sure to use them sparingly because they are rare to find.”“I thought I told you to tell her I can take care of myself. I don’t need her sending you up here every single time like some messenger.”“Oh, on the contrary, Mr. Valienta I am the one that offers to come here! I hope my company doesn’t bother you.”“Not at all…”“Okay, now as I prepare lunch you take out your laundry and plac

The right throne was empty, it was always reserved for Kanchi Asobi but he was attending to other obligations hence he did not make it to the meeting. On the left sat Lady Melo. The platform in front of the raised thrones was where Dakario and the Administrative head stood. Supporting the platform were pillars on all the corners, the pillars on the right side were rarefied for Shinshin and Kuro. The front pillar to the left was Anato Strider’s spot, where he would stand and fidget with his dagger. The back left pillar was always empty for the longest time, but with the induction of the ninth head Daito, that spot would, later on, be declared his.“Is everyone ready? C
After the trerth invasion, people were sure that they had been wiped out by the monsters, but noone ever bothered to confirm that notion. Weapons were unsheathed at the sight of the arrivals. The environment quickly became hostile.“One step closer and you're dead!”The ladies looked at them, disgusted by their presence. Daito stood beside the administrative head like a scarecrow. The ladies shifted their focus and directed it towards him.“It is him! The village purger!”Grips on their weapons tightened. Stories of his purging had been circulating around the close circle of villages, merchants who were traveling through multiple villages brought stories along, stories of how a ruthless man was running amuck. They were ready for him, all they were awaiting were the go-ahead orders from their chief and they would let loose on those two intruders.Lady Melo finally appeared from amongst the crowd that was building up in front of the entrance. She hoisted her hands high and shouted her orders out, forcing the soldiers to disengage.“At ease! These men are not here to fight!”She casually walked up to the two men and turne
“Did you notice anything?”“… no.”“Why are you hesitating to answer me? Are you lying to me?”Alvatrone eyed him intensively. Could the slave emblem’s effects be wearing off? It was definitely one of the strongest and unbreakable spells, so there was no way he could be overcoming it. He decided to shrug it off and they advanced towards the next village. On arrival, they could hear the loud blaring of horns from within the village, moments after the musical display, several men sprinted into view from within the village, armed to the teeth.“It’s the village purger! We won't let you violate our village you insolent fools! Now leave before we make you!”Alvatrone looked down at them, disappointing by how willing they were to waste their lives trying to fight them off.“This again, can you please deal with them, and don’t make it too bloody this time!”Without looking at him, Daito nodded and took off his robe, allowing it to slide off his back and fall to the ground. He directed his r
The village was so well hidden amongst the cover of forest trees that Tyndale didn’t even manage to locate it during his conquest. He also realized the Vurhan's occupied the forest and if he engaged with them, with the limited manpower he had, it would prove costly. As Garvin and his multitude entered the forest, lumberjacks who were taking a break from their strenuous work noticed the oncoming herd. Their panicked legs ran back to the village to sound the alarm. From afar Garvin could hear the blaring horns. Soon after a group emerged from the forest armed with axes and Spears.“Stop where you are!”An old man shouted. Pointing his ax towards the crowd. Garvin stepped forward with his hands raised.“We mean you no harm! We have come here in peace!”The faded insignia of the Honorary State Guard on his torn raiment caught the old man’s eye. He spat on the ground, cussing out the insignia.“A wretched state guard! Setting foot in my home! I am the chief of this village, and we do not a
“Fate is a human construct. It is what they define our noesis, how we gods determine the outcome of their actions. You were born out of human cognition, so I figured you would have human traits.”“Is it a bad thing?”“No, it is a dangerous thing. Because it limits your comprehension. You cannot fathom the level of danger you are getting yourself into by challenging him,”“I do not fear him! The only thing I fear is the lack of limitations on my power. Because of my human traits, I cannot measure the limit of my capability, and I am afraid that will be my downfall because I do not know how powerful I am, maybe I am even more powerful than him.”Arni chuckled, he fastened his grip on the petal, squeezing out the water turning it flaccid.“I have been by his side since the beginning of reality. Trust me when I tell you there is no way you can be more powerful than him.”“My power grows limitless by the minute. I am capable of…”“You gain power from human beings. Arekin created human bein
They rushed into the palace, two awls trailing behind them, holding a huge wooden box. When they were climbing the flight of stairs, one of the awls relaxed his grasp on the case's side handle and it slid off, falling to the ground. The case's housing broke open and objects spewed out, including several scrolls, a large book with a lock restricting the pages, and a fairly long dagger. "Wait, I'm familiar with both the book and the sword. They are normally at my father's place. He's been devoting a lot of time lately to reading that book." "And what is the purpose of the blade?" "It's for, yeah, I read about it in my father's library a long time ago, it's used for the rite when when...no!" Daito's eyes abruptly opened as he realized what the intention of the visit could be. He made a hasty descent down the trunk, losing his balance and slipping off several times. Drom pursued him blindly. "Hey! Dai, what is it tell me!" "Come on Drom! We have to hurry before it's too late." They
Needle-like pain reverberated across her skull. She lost her orientation, the world began spinning. As she tried to straighten to her feet another powerful blow landed across her frame, knocking the air out of her lungs, sending her spinning and spiraling across the floor. She collided with the wall, breaking her momentum. Jrue swung his twin blades with malicious intent. Though it wasn’t him succumbing to all those terrifying blows they were so brutal that he felt the impact of his raw strength. Before his blades could gain momentum he was rudely picked off the ground with an inhumane tackle. He was driven to the wall, the impact so violent it pushed the bricks out of position. Once he was pinned to the wall a flurry of punches started coming his way. The iron-like knuckles dug into his face, he felt like a hammer pounding his cheeks. His mouth filled with blood. The relentless attacks were halted by a deafening sound of a metal bar striking Tyndale’s skull. It seemed to have less
“A paralytic Poison. I see I taught you well my son…” “Don’t you ever dare call me that again!” He picked up his right arm and slit his wrist across, doing the same to his left hand. Jrue wanted him to suffer. He wanted him to bleed to death knowing that he was powerless, unable to do anything about it and save himself. He left him outside and limped back into the house. All the soldiers guarding the house had evacuated, deployed to handle the uprising of the slaves in the mines, giving the two siblings all the time they needed to execute duties assigned to them by Anato Strider as part of their escape plan. He managed to reach the room where the fight had begun. He shook her sister to wake. “Lora, Lora! Wake up, it is done!” All Lora felt was an unrealistically powerful force driving her to the ground. She landed with a thud, her head bouncing off the moldy floor. Needle-like pain reverberated across her skull. She lost her orientation, the world began spinning. As she tried to s
Albert was unconcerned about her feelings. He spread the crinkled letter out on the table and began reading it aloud. "The official report. On the second day of the third week of the sixth moon of the year, the commander of the independent states arrived at Defectors State headquarters, where honorary State guard, Lora Deryleen, provided information on the whereabouts of the fugitive, ex-commander, and traitor to the States, Slejj. In the evening, the commander gathered an army to go over to make a stand. "What are you babbling about, is it a fantasy scenario you've been dreaming about?" "Come on...you of all people should know the report never lies," "You seriously can't be considering something this low Albert!," "I made a deal with fugitives Lora, fugitives you wanted to protect. now it seems like their crimes have caught up to them, and there is no way I can delay the inevitable," "You're not going to be able to accomplish it, Albert. We struck a deal!" "Lora...dear Lora, I
The kick was aimed at the shield. Tyndale pushed out the shield with his kick so violently that it broke the teeth submerged into the metal. As the shield rolled on the mud with the teeth sticking out of it, Jericho shrieked in pain. Daito finally came to, getting to his feet just in time before the blast shot the Vurhan's entire face off. He charged forward with a blast of his own. Tyndale reverted his attention towards him which left him exposed to the mercy of the beast. Another swipe of the claws ripped up a shred of his skin, allowing blood to run over his chest. His muscular arms pushed Daito back onto the ground once more. He kicked the vurhan and took out its left knee with a blast of energy, rendering it immobile, momentarily. As the vurhan stumbled to the ground he grabbed its arm and pulled it back up, directing its head towards his punch. The two targets collided, leaving a bloody green stain on the Vurhan's face as it slid across the mud. Tyndale felt a severe force pus
"I made a deal with fugitives Lora, fugitives you wanted to protect. now it seems like their crimes have caught up to them, and there is no way I can delay the inevitable," "You're not going to be able to accomplish it, Albert. We struck a deal!" "Lora...dear Lora, I mean, come on, you knew what you were up to. We all knew this make-believe family you built wasn't going to last." "Albert, you're a jerk!" "Let's not talk about that princess. I'm aware of your darkest secrets!" "Wait... What secret?" He moved closer to her face, leaning in. Her stomach turned at the smell of his alcoholic breath. "You think I don't know about your little secret, Deryleen... you're not from around here, are you?" "You're not selling it Albert...get out of here." Lora bumped shoulders with him as she walked into her quarters. "Get out of my quarters now!!!" "... According to the second official report, Lora Deryleen and Alicia Iko captured the previous commander of the independent nations and we
Alicia dazed in a similar trance. She looked on as her apparently dead little brother reaped his swords and whirled them, chopping off delegates arms and legs. At one point he arced his head and caught sight of her, but ventured on with his slaughter as if she wasn't even there, as if he had no clue who she was. Reene and the others tapped them out of their stupor as they pulled out their swords. Alicia began galloping straight towards Drom, and Lora headed for Deryleen. Before they could both reach their intended targets the rest of the faction popped up under the teleportation circle and dropped to the arena, jumping straight into the action. Outside the castle, the intense battle raged on. The army of undead knights fought relentlessly like they had nothing to lose, mostly because they didn't. They overpowered the knights trying to secure the castle and fell to their blades, most of them cowardly retreating. The vurhans continued their orchestra, by then the whole city had awoken
"You know the truth is I was never your brother you simpleton! I was never your brother!" "... Wha... What did I ever do to you brother?" "NOTHING! And that is why I despise you. You never did anything for anyone, only cared about yourself. Using others to get what you wanted... Using me to become the commander!" Slejj coughed up a couple of times before speaking. "What in the hell are you talking about?" "I do not need to explain myself to you! Have you ever heard of Enkai, the forest deity who supposedly guarded the gates against crossers? Protected the Independent States from the world outside, especially vurhans." Slejj stared back in discomfort as a response. "Well, do you remember the day we were on the battlefield, fighting off the hoards of vurhans? I was the one who called on to him. I corrupted him with the help of some new friends I made. Using the power I made it turn against us... It killed and devoured those soldiers, and it was also to devour you! But I didn't pla
Fear was creeping in and Jrue was re-evaluating his options. A retreat would seem reasonable at that point. Lora had been completely taken out of the equation. “Well! I am Waiting!” Tyndale barked, his voice full of excitement. Jrue charged towards him. He wasn’t that good of a fighter in tight spaces but give him an open field and he would perform his acrobatic stunts that surprisingly packed a punch. He sought to tilt the odds to his advantage by taking him to an open field, and there was only one way he saw how. Running full steam ahead he tackled Tyndale and they both burst through the window, shattering the glass and falling three from a height three stories high. There was no object below to cushion their landing, so they sprawled to the hard ground. Jrue landed on his chest, breaking a bone or two. Tyndale landed on the shards of glass. They dug into his back, yet he seemed not to feel irritated by the pain. Before he could get up Jrue rushed over to him and impaled his leg w
