Trigger Happy

Kael's POV

I glared at the lifeless bodies of Willy and Andrew.

Gabi's voice cut through the tension. "We'll find out who did this. We didn't expect—"

"Expect?" I cut her off and walked closer to the dead bodies. I took the iron rod next to it. It still looked red and I could feel the heat radiating from it. Their methods are commendable, but they should not have done this.

“I’ve been too soft with you haven’t I Gabi?” I said as I walked towards Gabi with the rod in my hand. Lily looked like she was about to scream but I didn't care.

“Do you think this is a movie? You're supposed to anticipate every possible move. Instead, you let them wipe out our only link to the warehouse bombing. What the fuck were you doing?!"

"W-we still have Lily. I'll make her….” she trailed off immediately after she met my gaze.

I towered over her and yanked her hair. "Nobody is allowed to touch her without my permission," I growled, raising the iron rod close to her face.

Gabi swallowed hard and her breathing quickened. “I-I'll get to the bottom of this, sir.”

"I-I don't know what's going on, but I don't want any part of it." I heard Lily speak.

"You're already a part of it, Lily. Whether you like it or not." I turned to Gabi. "Take Lily to my room. I need to think."

"Hell no, you guys are freaking mad!"

“Shout at me again and I'll make sure you lick this rod.” That was enough to shut Lily up. She swallowed hard and followed Gabi. But I didn't stop looking at her. I knew she was hiding something, and I was going to find out what. I would break Lily, body and soul. And when I am done, she’ll regret ever coming here.

I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down. I needed to think clearly, to figure out who was behind this and why.

I pulled out my phone and sent a message to Loid. He won't like this but at the same time, he'd be relieved.

Just last night I learnt that Willy Hitler is the same person that has been stealing from Loid's company. How did he manage to do all of that in Germany and still come here to blow up my warehouse?

It's unfortunately, I didn't give myself the satisfaction of killing him myself.

I looked at Willy's body again. The killer had been careful, leaving no evidence behind. But I knew that everyone made mistakes. I just had to find out what that mistake was.

And then there was the mole. I knew I had a traitor in my organization, someone who was feeding information to the enemy. But who?

I thought about my inner circle, about the people I trusted. Finn, Gabi, my buddies and butler Joe... Could it be one of them?

I shook my head, pushing the thoughts aside. I needed to focus on finding the killer and the mole. I would deal with my inner circle later.

For now, I had a message to decipher, a killer to catch and guards to punish. And I would stop at nothing to get my answers.

"Watch everything around you burn. We are closer than you think. Yours revengefully, M."

‘M?’

I know a lot of mafia's initials with ‘M’ and I might have killed a lot. But nobody sends a threat without a reason, only cowards send cryptic messages.

I prefer direct hits, but if they want to play hide and seek then I'm down for it. I'll make sure to get those who dare come into my home and touch my prey.

My mind was racing with possibilities, but two names kept popping up:

Timothy and Lily.

Timothy Malcom, CEO of Elixir Inc., everything points to him. I don't like his vibes but he doesn’t seem like someone in the mafia. But he's responsible for blowing up my warehouse. Plus his sudden appearance at the competition, his interest in Lily... it all seemed convenient.

Too convenient. There had to be more to him than met the eye.

And Lily, she trained under Donna Rosa, that money-hungry bitch. A normal lady would have passed out after being electrocuted but that girl tried to escape, twice and worst of all, she has Ava by her side. If I kill Lily, Ava will kill me.

But I couldn't shake off the feeling that they were in this together. That they were playing me. I needed answers, and I needed them now.

I made a call to Finn to take Ava out after school and double their security. This is a good time of the year to increase my weapons.

I stormed towards my room. Knowing Lily, she would try to escape again, but with Ava out with Finn, I could do whatever I wanted to Lily.

"Sir, I've taken care of the... arrangements, "A voice called out and I looked back to see Butler Joe.

“Good, see that everything is handled discreetly. What about the footage?" I asked.

"It appears the killer was careful to avoid detection," Joe replied.

I stopped in my tracks, turning to face him. "What do you mean?"

"He wore a mask and gloves," Joe explained. "No fingerprints, no facial recognition and the rumours have spread.”

I raised an eyebrow. "What rumours?"

"Rumors of a traitor within our organization," Joe said, his voice low. "Someone who might have had a hand in the deaths."

"Find out who's talking and bring them to me. Take Gabi with you, but first, you have to punish her. She seems to have forgotten some rules."

Joe nodded and bowed his head. "As you wish, sir."

I continued toward my room and kicked the door open. I expected to see Lily by the window but that was not the case.

Lily stood in the middle of the room, a gun in her hand aimed directly at me and her phone pressed to her ear.

The corner of my lips turned to a smirk. It was about time she showed her true colours. I stared at her as she cocked the gun and aimed it at my chest.

Her finger slowly began to pull the trigger, and my heart skipped a beat.

"You shouldn't have underestimated me, Kael," she said.

I should move, but she looked so damn hot with the way she posed. Soo hot that I took a step towards her.

The sound of a gunshot echoed through the room.
