Lizette’s P.O.V.
“Shifting and combat? Are you sure?” The receptionist at the main office raised her brow, her mocking tone dismissed my request. “There’s no seat for you in shifting and combat class!” Returning to her keyboard, she started clicking, ignoring me completely. Her plain refusal disappointed me, I sighed while thinking of some way to get in. It was my last semester and multiple rejections had already wasted my time. I couldn’t let this chance slide. “But I can do better, ma’am. Please give me a chance to prove myself. I’ll ...” Ma’am Jess threw a dirty glare at me, cutting me off sharply. “The students who can shift are eligible to enter this class, Lizette. Our academy isn’t responsible for your loss of limb and eye in physical practice.” My inability to shift once again put me to shame, my eyes burned with tears as I literally begged her, “Ma’am, I deserve to be in the class. Please ...” Ma’am Jess disregarded my pleas and turned to receive a file from her coworker. “It’s a notice from Alpha for unmated students. Our Silver Claw Pack is hosting the annual mating ball this year.” Annual Mating Ball? Oh, no! My heart dropped to my stomach as my crush, Brandon’s face flashed across my mind. I turned eighteen yesterday and hadn’t smelled my soulmate yet. It was my heartfelt wish to be paired with my childhood sweetheart, turning our friendship into lifelong companionship. Ma’am Jess entered the details from the notice quickly and raised her head, her fury skyrocketed to see me. “What are you still doing here? Go and continue your forestry lessons!” The way she shooed me away crushed my self-respect, although I had tried my best to fit in for the past two years. Rubbing my eyes mercilessly, I walked out of the office, this humiliation was just a start of the regular day at my academy. All thanks to my luck, our pack’s beauty Queen, Stella spotted me outside the office. She rolled her eyes at me. “Attention everyone, this omega is again trying to get into combat class.” The group of her minions giggled as if it was the joke of the decade, adding to her statement. “This wolf-less omega is daring to compete with her superiors, Stella.” My grip around my books tightened as my wolf, Onyx, couldn’t digest this insult. She snarled at Stella, “Watch your tongue!” “Or what, mutt?” Stella stepped forwards, baring her claws for a fight. “Will you hurt me with your imaginary claws, mutt? Oh, I am so scared!” As this bullying would get severe if I tried to react, I lowered my head as usual to ignore her hurtful words. However, Stella crossed every limit today as she scoffed defiantly. “Nobody cares for you, freak. Even your father has disowned you!” “Stella!” Her gaslighting pinched my aching nerve, shaming me with the biggest loss of my life. My dad, Gamma of the pack, had disowned me after the fateful night of my sixteenth birthday. The night when I couldn’t shift despite meeting my wolf. Unable to suppress my flaring anger, I thrashed my books in Stella’s face, retaliating for the first time. But my feeble attempt was a grave mistake! Stella’s furious growl resonated in the surroundings as she pounced on me, her iron fist punched me in the gut with full force. “How dare you raise your voice in front of me, freak?” After pushing me to the ground, she started kicking me mercilessly. Several students circled us as she yelled hysterically. “You are a mutt, born to serve your superiors. Now lick my shoes to apologize for your crime!” The amused audience laughed and chanted this demand, trying their best to support our Pack’s Goddess. “Lick her shoes! Lick her shoes!” The tears rolled down my cheeks like rivers of despair, I was helpless in front of that enraged crowd. As Gamma’s only daughter, my life was normal until my dad refused to acknowledge an abomination’s presence in his life, turning me into an outcast overnight. I winced in pain as my body ached due to Stella’s relentless assault, praying to my Goddess to send my friends for my safety. Brandon was the next Alpha of our Silver Claw Pack; he had saved me countless times from our pack member’s cruelty. Only he could save me now. Perhaps, the Moon Goddess was in instant response mode that she sent Brandon as my savior. His familiar cedar wood perfume was a gust of fresh air in this suffocated environment. He growled loudly, “Stop it!” His Alpha command shook the ground below us, freezing Stella to her spot. That evil tormentor acted like a victim as Brandon ordered, “Go back to your classes!” However, I couldn’t hear Stella’s lies as the cedar wood perfume invaded my nostrils, stirring something deep in my heart. My wolf, who was moving heaven and earth to heal me, shuddered, howling at the top of her lungs. “Mate!” Oh, my Goddess! Brandon? Every speck of my existence danced in glee to finally smell my crush as my mate, it was like a dream come true for me. To compensate for my inability to shift, the Moon Goddess had paired me with the love of my life. I was unable to express my gratitude in words. The power of heavenly mate-bond connected us instantly and Brandon helped me up, his soft voice was laced with concern. “I’ll take you to the infirmary, Liz. Doctor Rose will take care of your injuries.” I couldn’t even bear to say that his care was an effective tonic for me, healing the deep lacerations of my soul. We walked in the corridor towards the infirmary to see Doctor Rose. But suddenly, Brandon took a wrong turn and took me to an under-construction wing, pulling me inside a room. He spoke coldly, “So, you are my mate, Liz!” Although I was hastily arranging my years of affection to confess my feelings, the iciness of his tone caught my attention. A look of great bitterness swept across his face, as he swore, “The Moon Goddess must be kidding me. Fuck this mate-bond!” His hateful tone clenched my heart, the visible disgust on his face poured a bucket of cold water over my excitement. Mustering up some courage, I spoke meekly “We are best friends and now soulmates. What’s wrong with it?” Brandon’s face grew ashen, he spat out, “Look at yourself and then repeat these words, Liz.”I looked at my torn shirt, bloodied lips, and messed up hair, they made me look like an alien before my handsome Alpha mate. But what did it have to do with the mate-bond?
Brandon paced back and forth, muttering under his breath. “I am the Alpha; my mate will be the Luna of my pack. How can a girl like Liz be worthy of this status? No, I won’t allow it!” He blocked my wolf, disregarding her mating call. I was still processing his startling behavior as he snarled at me. “This pairing is a mistake, and I will correct it ASAP!”Welcome to my new novel, lovelies. Lizette’s P.O.V. “A mistake?” My heart forgot to beat for a moment as my mate chewed his words hatefully, sending shivers down my spine. Alpha spoke out of the blue, “I, Brandon Cameron, Alpha of the Silver Claw Pack, reject you, Gamma Lizette Bancroft, as my mate and the future Luna of the pack.” A volcano of hatred rumbled as its molten lava burned my soul, throbbing my heart with the pain of a thousand arrows piercing it. This rejection was like being struck by lightning on a clear, sunny day, crumbling down my world around me. My friend, my secret crush, and my mate had rejected me on a whim, how could he just do it to me? Suppressing my shrieks, I stumbled over my words to ask, “W-why? How can you reject me, Brandon?” Alpha was taken aback by this query, as if he wasn’t expecting it after his rash decision. “It’s obvious, Liz. How can an abomination like you can be my Luna?” Although his harsh words had initiated the process of rejection, he kept his Alpha demea
Lizette’s P.O.V. “The mating ball will change your life for sure, Liz!” My mom’s words were ringing in my mind when I went to the academy the next morning. However, my BFF, Liana grabbed my arm at the entrance. “How are you feeling now, Liz? Sam told me about you and Stella. I tried your number; it was switched off. Where were you?” She slightly lowered her glasses and looked at me like her eyes did an x-ray of my face, I found it hard to lie. “I went to see my mom. She gave me injection, so I am feeling fine now..” As she was aware of my family issues, my short response satisfied her. Liana looked around and whispered in my ears. “Did you smell your mate, Liz?” A hard knot constricted my throat as the scenes of rejection tormented me again, I barely smiled and shook my head. “No, not yet.” “Hurray!” Liana clapped and announced gleefully. “Then we can go to the ball together.” Liana was the daughter of the Pack’s Beta; her rank was like a savior
Lizette’s P.O.V. Friday night! Throughout the week, Liana ate my brain with different information regarding the Lycan King for that meeting. “Oh, my gosh, Liz. King Vincent Lawrence is dope. See, what have I found on this site?” She downloaded all the details, and articles about him and currently, she was bombarding me with that news in the ball. “He’s thirty-eight years old, 1.96 meters tall, and June Gemini. And the most important thing, he’s the richest businessman in our supernatural world.” I didn’t pay any heed to her bulletin, and looked around, mesmerized by the beauty of the arrangements. I had seen this luxurious hall before, but today, everything was top-notch. In addition to the fancy lights decor outside, the hall was all classy and stylish. The ceilings and posh chandeliers sparked different colors as though colorful gemstones were used to design them, making the hall look magical. However, its beauty lost its attraction when Stella appeared before my si
Vincent’s P.O.V. “Smile please!” Beta Arlo turned from the driving seat to click my picture; his toothy smile irked me. “You blackmailed me with my mom’s order to attend this idiotic mating ball. What else do you want?” The air inside our Range Rover crackled with tension as my sharp words hurled at him like a blade. But still, my Beta aka my official advisor was unfazed by my authority. “Take it as an official meeting, Your Majesty. The Silver Claw pack’s territory is a rich business hub. I have emailed the possible projects which we can discuss with Alpha Marco.” After a three-hour, boring flight and thirty-minute drive, Arlo finally spilled the beans about the significance of this trip. I swiftly opened my laptop to study the proposal, numerous business opportunities instantly removed the haze of vexation. “You should have told me before, Arlo!” Hiding the glee of my inner businessman, I feigned anger and scolded him. “You are my friend, that’s why I am sparing y
Vincent’s P.O.V. “You’re so handsome, Prince Charming!” My little mate giggled, circling her arms around my neck. The attractive green color of her eyes was a hint of her wolf’s elation. “Your jawline is sharp; did you get surgery?” We hadn’t even exchanged names, and that wolf was asking me weird questions. Securing her in my embrace, I stepped into our room for tonight’s mating ritual. It was nearly impossible to see anything else except her alluring countenance, which was shining like a full moon in the sky. After closing the door shut, I corrected her softly. “I’m a King, Erasthai! Not a Prince Charming.” My statement confused her, my curious gaze followed her fingers as she traced my cheeks. “But you are too young to be a King. Are you trying to impress me with lies?” She fluttered her eyelashes innocently and whispered in my ear. “If yes, then there’s no need for it. I like you.” Resting her head on my shoulder, she inhaled my scent deeply. And for the
Lizette’s P.O.V. “Mine!” A man’s stern voice was echoing in my ears when I woke up with a severe headache. The sun was bright outside, a sun ray peered through the glass window, illuminating the walls with a burst of rainbow delight. Wait a second! A spacious room with a window? The softness of the mattress beneath me instantly alarmed me, I was totally taken aback by the surroundings. “Oh, my Goddess. Where am I?” I got up in haste, my foot stuck in a comfortable blanket. This was another shock as my dorm room didn’t have such types of facilities in it. Currently, I have been sharing a ten-by-ten room with two girls. Our hard bunker beds, and thin blankets were difficult to afford. Then how could I get this update overnight? Rubbing my eyes, I looked around to inspect the location, a realization hit me hard. “Off-white decor, lilac paintings, and Hello Kitty bed? Oh, my gosh! I’m in my dad’s villa!” My eyes bulged out of their sockets as I glanced at the room where I h
Lizette’s P.O.V. The suffocating silence prevailed in the surroundings as King Vincent kept glaring at me, like he was giving me a chance to change my query as swiftly as possible. Alas! He was simply mistaken! I stared back at him bravely, not giving a damn about his Royal authority. This sudden order of moving had run me out of patience, ending the era of a spineless Lizette. My love for Brandon, his rejection, and my compromise with eternal loneliness had hardened my injured heart. I was fed up with all the ill-treatment, unwilling to let anyone dictate my future. This King’s command was just the last straw! The unending staring competition between me and King Vincent was going to be a tie as neither of us were ready to back off. So, my mom jumped in as a referee. “What are you saying, Liz? King Vincent had already waited until morning to go back. You should ...” My mom was praising the exemplary conduct of my mate, but my dad didn’t consider it enough. He scolded me in
Lizette’s P.O.V. King Vincent’s eyes changed their color for a second before he could compose himself, the look of surprise on his face confused me. Was he really thinking that I would give up my life just for a stranger? The air crackled with tension as he spun on his heels sharply, leaving without uttering a single word. My parents’ startling gasps resounded in my ears, they both begged simultaneously. “Please don’t leave, Your Majesty!” But before their pleas could reach that King, he was gone. His assistant stopped my dad, “Please don’t try to follow His Majesty. As Her Highness wishes to continue her studies, we’ll discuss this matter in the Court, and then inform you about the final decision. Until then, take care of our Queen on our behalf.” … My dad grounded me for being rude to my mate and scolded my mom. “It’s all your fault, Ursula. You didn’t teach your daughter to behave well.” Locked in my room, I was listening to that live broadcast of my parents’ fight. I
