Amelia’s POV
I was so happy when I heard him asking me to be his girl and I quickly accepted his proposal. Accepting his proposal marked a significant moment, one that paved the way for my first kiss. His gentleness during that moment lingered in my memory, making it a cherished experience. It was a delicate dance of feelings—a step into a new chapter, a moment that lingered vividly in my heart, leaving an indelible mark of affection and the thrill of embracing something new and special.
The moment unfolded with a blend of excitement and nervousness. As our lips met, his tenderness enveloped me, making the experience both exhilarating and sweetly serene but then our sweet moment was ruined by the chef. The chef cleared his throat informing us that our food was ready. I was a bit embarrassed when the chef caught us kissing and I blushed so hard.
A tantalizing aroma of roasted meats, freshly baked bread, and exotic spices hung in the air. The chef artfully places platters of food on the table.
The enticing aroma of the foods filled the air, creating an intricate dance of flavors that teased the senses. The centerpiece of the food was succulent roasted meats dripping with juices.
Platters of perfectly cooked venison adorned the table like culinary masterpieces. Each slice revealed the chef’s careful craftsmanship, the meat retaining its natural juiciness and infused with a medley of secret herbs and spices.
Freshly baked bread beckoned from ornate baskets, its golden crust giving way to a soft, warm interior. The aroma of yeast and grains filled the air, providing a welcome contrast to the robust flavors of the meats.
Plates of grilled vegetables, their vibrant colors arranged like a painter's palette, added a splash of color to the meal.
My mouth watered and my stomach grumbled. When my gaze met Eddie's, he smiled at me and then motioned for me to eat. We finished our food and then he offered to take me home. When we arrived at the front of my apartment, he smiled at me and just like a perfect gentleman, he came down from the driver’s seat and then opened the door for me. I was out of the car and just as I was about to go in, he pulled me into his embrace, and then gave me a good night kiss.
I moved away from him, blushing harder and then dashed in without looking back at him. Blair was not present because she had informed me that she was on clinical posting. She was a medical student, and I knew how hectic her schedule was.
I dashed into my room and sat back on my bed, remembering the kiss I shared with Eddie. Just then my phone beeped and when I checked it, it was a message from Eddie telling me to sleep tight and would come back the next morning to take me to school.
I was so happy after reading the message, tossing up and down.
Oh my gosh! Is he trying to announce to everyone that we are dating?
I finally slept off without replying to Eddie's message.
…..
The first rays of sunlight streamed through the window, painting the room in gold hues. I sat up and stretched, blinking away the last vestiges of sleep. I smiled at myself when I remembered what happened between me and Eddie the previous night and just then my phone beeped. It was Eddie again, telling me to get ready as he would be coming to pick up in the next thirty minutes. I sprang out of the bed and rushed to the bathroom. When I was done, I quickly put on my clothes and shoes and I was finally done. I ran out of my apartment when he told me he was waiting for me outside and then he showered with good morning kisses and hugs.
I blushed so hard, and then we drove to school. Everyone was taken aback as we walked hand in hand. I became the talk of the school, and all the girls envied me. Because of my relationship with Eddie, I made a lot of new friends, and our relationship became the hottest topic in school. He always lavished me with gifts and affection, making me feel like a queen.
Our relationship ended during our final semester in school. I was working with a small agency to gain more experience then even when Eddie suggested that I use his connection to work with bigger agencies, but I told him that I wanted to climb to the top without the help of anyone. I was so shocked when he told me that he wanted to see me that evening and that was how my perfect relationship came to an end. What hurt me the most was that he didn’t tell me the reason why he was breaking up with me.
I was still sitting in daze when he broke up with me and then I received a call from my dad that my mom was sick and she was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer.
My heart ached when I heard the news about my mother’s sickness. It had been a while since I saw her. Due to my class schedule here in Florida, I always find it difficult
to travel back home to check up on my parents and I was so hurt that I had no idea my mother was sick.
Eddie having broken up with me with the call from my dad about my mom’s sickness, I returned back to my apartment with sadness written all over my face. I burst into tears when I saw Blair and I explained everything to her. She comforted me, assuring me that everything would be fine.
I waited for Eddie to call me and tell me that he didn’t mean what he said, but he didn’t. I focused on my studies , found some part time jobs to do so as to pay my mother’s bill and also everyone gossiped behind my back that they all knew my relationship with Eddie wouldn't last and that I was only with him because of his money.
Several rumors circulated about me but I couldn’t care as my mom’s health was my top priority. We finally graduated and yet I never heard from Eddie. Blair got a job back home at New York City’s Presbyterian Hospital after her residency at the hospital and she was the doctor in charge of my mom’s treatment while I still remained in Florida working with a small agency before I finally got a job with the agency I was working with at the moment.
I was jolted back to the present when my phone beeped. My mom's hospital bill was forwarded to me and I was so shocked when I saw the amount I had to pay again for the month. I ignored the message and then noticed that Eddie had called me. I didn’t bother calling him back and instead went into the bathroom to take a cold shower.
I laid back on my bed, thinking about my mom, the bills and the work ahead of me. Before I knew it, I finally slept off.
Amelia’s POVI spent my days going back and forth from work to my apartment, ignoring Eddie's calls and messages inviting me to his place. My boss was always asking how I knew Eddie, and all I could say was that he was just a friend. It was finally the day for the event and Eddie and I had chatted the previous night, informing me about our flight details, telling me that we would be taking off by 10 a.m. I thanked him and then hung up immediately. I woke up and hurriedly took my bath, my mind racing as I thought If I would be able to handle such a big event without causing any trouble. I ignored the thoughts and quickly got out of the bathroom.I put on the red Gown I had chosen the previous night to avoid getting too late to the airport. I looked at the mirror to check myself out, and I decided on just applying mascara, eye liner, and chapstick. I then placed my hair in a bun as usual and had to check myself out again.Nothing too fancy, just something to make me feel comfortable, c
Amelia’s POVI looked at Eddie who was also shocked, probably at the sudden revelation from his child. He held her daughter closely, telling her that he needed to talk to me. “I can explain myself, Amelia,” he replied to me.“Just give me the chance to explain myself,” he added. I only stared at him, almost tearing up because I was so hurt. I had chosen to remain single ever since he broke up with me hoping that he would come back to me one day but instead he went ahead to get married and then have a child or probably children. I stared at the cute little thing tugging on his trousers and my heart felt so heavy just because I imagined that she could be my daughter with Eddie.I knelt down to her level, almost in tears and then asked her to come closer. She smiled at me and then came running to me. I hugged her tightly before asking her name.“My name… is Chloe,” she said, shyly looking so adorable.“Who are you?” She asked.“Me?” I asked as her questions came as a shock because I h
Eddie’s POVI was so sad as I watched Amelia got into the cab angrily, ignoring me. I brought out my phone and dialed her number but she wasn’t picking up.Fuck! I muttered to myself.I wanted to apologized to her for what I did in the past and also explained to him about my present situation but she wasn’t ready to listen to me. I walked back into the hall, took Chloe to her nanny and then went to continued my discussion with my guests as it would be rude if I left the hall without proper goodbye. I was finally able to excused myself from the guests, asking James, my personal assistant to take over. I returned back to my house with Chloe and her nanny. “Dad, mom said she is coming back this weekend,” Chloe said to me immediately I took her to her room. Hearing about her mother, Jenna, infuriated me but I maintained my composure in the presence of Chloe. I forced a smile and then bent down to her level.“Are you that excited to meet your mom?” I asked her.She nodded her head, smil
Amelia’s POVI was taken aback because I had never seen my father become so enraged the way he was when I told him about Eddie. “I don’t want to see you with him ever again, Amelia,” he warned me sternly.“I won’t dad,” I replied to him curtly. He sat beside his wife, still irritated. He turned to me and warned me once more to Istay away from Eddie.“I’m not sure if you are aware of what happened between me and his father two years ago. He was a big part of why my company went bankrupt,” he explained.Looking and feeling uninterested about what actually happened between him and Eddie’s father, I was more determined not to ever cross paths with Eddie again.“I promise to stay away from him, dad,” I assured him. He felt a bit relieved when I made such a promise to him and then mom smiled at him, telling him to calm down. I was so delighted when I saw her smile and so was my dad as well. He started feeding her some fruits and the sight was so beautiful. Just then Blair came in and I qui
Amelia’s POVI was so happy for Blair that she would be having a new family of her own after the death of her parents seven years ago. I glanced at her and I could see the happiness written all over face. One could easily tell that she was in love and not just with anyone but to the love of her life. I turned my attention back to the surroundings and I could see some changes around. Just then she made a stop at an intersection. My eyes wandered around and just then landed on the biggest building in New York City, Stark Investment.I stiffened at the sight of it. I turned to Blair who also noticed the change in my mood as I asked her to start the car and drive away from there.“Are you okay, Amelia?” She asked.“I’m fine, Blair. Let’s just get out of here,” I said to her, struggling to keep my eyes from going back to the building. I shifted uncomfortably in my seat and cursed silently as my eyes eventually and inevitably started back to the building once again.“Why the rush?” She aske
Eddie’s POVI was still staring at Amelia’s pictures admiring her beauty. . She was standing beside me in a picture, smiling heartily at me with an air of confidence, her tall and curvy silhouette drawing me closer and can even caught anyone attention even from a distance. Her long, wavy blonde hair cascaded gracefully down her shoulders, catching the light and adding a radiant glow to her overall appearance. Her striking blue eyes sparkled with warmth and enthusiasm, framed by perfectly arched eyebrows that accentuated her facial features. Her complexion was flawless, radiating a healthy and natural glow that complemented her beauty. A subtle touch of makeup highlighted her features, enhancing the already captivating charm of her face.Amelia’s wardrobe exuded both style and sophistication. She was dressed in a chic ensemble that accentuated her curves, showcasing her tall and statuesque figure. The fabric of her outfit clung tastefully to her frame, emphasizing her natural grace and
Eddie’s POVI stared at the clothes for a while, nervously hoping they would do. As I caught myself straightening another non-existent crease in the shirt I had planned to wear, I chuckled to myself. I had not felt that excited and jittery in so long, specifically six years. The only time I had had such feelings was when Chloe was about to be born. Other than that, my life had been miserably dull and Chloe had been the only light in my dark world. But that will soon come to an end, I assured myself. I continued with my task, chuckling occasionally as I thought of Amelia and the way she had acted towards me that day we met. She was just so adorably cute, and the best thing about that is that she did not even know that she was. My chuckles died down as I thought of how beautiful she was now. Amelia had always been beautiful and while we were still in college, she had that subtle pretty girl next door look. But when I saw her in her boss's office, my first thought had been nothing… My mi
Amelia’s POVLet’s meet at 5:00p.m at Midvale Restaurant. Is that fine by you?I woke up and saw Eddie’s message immediately when I was awake but I ignored it. I thought about replying immediately, but I hurriedly put my phone down on the bed the very moment I opened the keyboard. I refuse to be that silly Amelia who once always replied immediately and always put him first. Besides, he is nothing to me now, just a troublesome client that I have to deal with. I took a deep breath and continued, as I tried to mentally prepare myself for the day and what was to come. You are strong, you are professional, you are hardworking, you will surely get there and things will be fine. Your mom will be fine, your career will be fine and you will even treat Eddie with nothing but professional respect. And after this, you will be free of him and certainly glad to be. You've got this, Amelia!I got up from my bed and began to carry out my morning routines, journaling and a little bit of yoga, wishin
Amelia’s POVIt's been a few weeks since Eddie and I had gotten back together. It had taken him only a couple of weeks to convince me to move in with him again, but this time around, it was not as his nanny or his chef, it was as his girlfriend. According to him, he wanted to spend as much time as possible before I had to go back to Florida to resume duty with my agency. Jenna had been slammed with a restraining order along with the promise of a lawsuit if she did not leave us alone. For good measure, Eddie had made sure to properly adopt Chloe as his legal daughter. That way Jenna would not be able to cause us any more trouble.“Babe! Hurry up, we're gonna be late!” That was Edie yelling from downstairs, while I was in the closet in his… in our room, getting ready. Together with my parents, Blair, James, and Chloe, we were all going to a restaurant to celebrate my mom finally beating cancer.I looked down at Chloe who had gotten her hand on my lipgloss and was now putting it on and
Eddie’s POVAmelia's gaze flickered between me and the bustling crowd before she sighed and gestured toward a doorway at the back."Let's talk somewhere else, shall we?"I did not want to have to talk to her. I wanted to be with her at my home, where I could talk to her and have all to myself."Forget the break room," I said, a newfound determination coursing through me. "Let's go somewhere we can actually talk."Amelia hesitated, then shrugged. "Alright," she conceded. "But I do have to finish my shift first."Frustration bubbled up within me, but I knew pushing her wouldn't help. "Fine," I muttered, trying to tamp down on my impatience. "How long?""Just another hour," she replied, checking her watch. "How about we meet somewhere? My place isn't really ideal.""My place is close by," I offered, surprising myself with the boldness. "It's quiet, we can talk there."Amelia raised an eyebrow. "Your place? That wasn't exactly part of the plan, Eddie.""Well, plans change," I said, a play
Eddie’s POV"It was a mistake, Eddie," she choked out, her voice barely audible. "A one-time thing… a long time ago.""A one-time thing?" I repeated, my voice cracking. The image of a younger, naive Jenna flashed before my eyes, a girl I thought I knew everything about. Now, she seemed like a stranger."Who was he?" I demanded with the need to know gnawing at me.Jenna hesitated, then whispered a name I vaguely recognized. It was someone from the film industry, a rising star she'd met during her brief stint in Los Angeles. They had a short fling, a whirlwind romance that ended as quickly as it began. The revelation hit me like a sucker punch. All the doubts I'd ignored, the whispers in the back of my mind, the nagging feeling that things weren't quite right – it all came flooding back with a terrifying clarity. Years of my life were built on a lie. Chloe, my sweet, innocent daughter, was caught in the crossfire of my naivety and Jenna's betrayal.Fury boiled within me, a churning infe
Eddie’s POVThe doctor gave a small smile. "Of course. Let her rest for a few minutes, and then you can go in."As we waited, James explained what little he knew. He'd been picking up Chloe from school when a call came through from the hospital. Apparently, another kid had swerved into Chloe's path while riding his scooter.A surge of anger flared up within me. How could someone be so careless? But the anger quickly dissipated, replaced by a fierce protectiveness over my little girl.Minutes later, we were ushered into the room. Chloe lay propped up in bed, her face pale and drawn, a white cast encasing her arm. Tears welled up in her eyes as she saw me."Daddy!" she cried out, her voice small and wobbly. My heart ached at the sight of her distress. "Hey, champ," I said, rushing to her side and pulling her into a gentle hug, careful not to jostle her injured arm. "It's okay, I'm here now."She buried her face in my chest, her small body trembling slightly. I showered her with comforti
Amelia’s POVThe question hung heavy in the air. Friends? Could we really go back to that after everything that had happened? A part of me longed for the simplicity of our old friendship, the easy camaraderie we'd shared. But another part of me worried that friendship wouldn't be enough. The feelings I had for Eddie, the unspoken desires that had simmered beneath the surface of our relationship, wouldn't just disappear. They would linger, a constant reminder of what could have been.Taking a deep breath, I typed out a reply. "I… I don't know, Eddie. Honestly, I need some time to think. This whole situation has been a lot to process.""I understand," he replied almost instantly. "Take all the time you need. Just know that… I care about you, Amelia. More than you probably realize."His words sent a blush creeping up my neck. Did he really feel the same way? Or was this just a desperate attempt to hold onto me in any way he could? I didn't have the answers, and the uncertainty gnawed at
Amelia’s POVI stared at the message for what felt like an eternity, my mind a battlefield of conflicting emotions. Finally, with a shaky breath, I typed out a reply."Eddie," I began, my fingers hovering over the screen, "I… I don't know what to say. Thank you for the money. It means the world to me and my mom. But ...is everything alright? James said you collapsed. Are you in the hospital?" I hit send, the weight of the question hanging heavy in the air. The money, the cryptic message – it all pointed to something more serious than he was letting on.The wait for a response stretched into an agonizing eternity. Just as I started to pace the room, my phone buzzed. It was Eddie."Amelia," his voice rasped through the phone, weaker than I'd ever heard it. "Yes, I'm in the hospital. They're still trying to figure things out, but the doctor says I have Angiina due to stress."My chest tightened. Stress. The word echoed in my head, a stark reminder of the turmoil I'd left him in. "Eddie,"
Amelia’s POVI knew that there was no way that he and Jenna had actually been together in the way that she had been insinuating.Jenna had probably been playing another of her manipulative tricks. Regardless, I was exhausted and had had to tell myself that it would be better to end it with Eddie than to be dealing with hurt and frustration every day. James had been giving me updates on both Chloe and Eddie and although I knew I should tell him to stoop so that I could have a clean break, I did not think I had the heart to do so.The rhythmic rumble of the bus engine vibrated through the worn leather seat I occupied. Outside the window, the cityscape blurred into a kaleidoscope of colors, each passing image signifying my new reality. A reality where I, Amelia Brooks, was no longer Eddie Turner's nanny. Today's successful interview meant I could finally stand on my own two feet, financially independent. A bittersweet victory, considering the reason behind this newfound freedom.A soft c
Eddie’s POVHis words held a truth that stung. Jenna's behavior had become increasingly erratic, her possessiveness suffocating. But the thought of facing Amelia, of dredging up the hurt and confusion of that day, filled me with dread.I could not say anything, I could only nod my head in response. Just then, my head began to pound again, this time around in sync with my heart. My vision swam, the pounding in my head morphing into a relentless drum solo. The room seemed to tilt on its axis, James' concerned face warping into a blurry mess. A guttural cough ripped through me, sending another jolt of pain lancing through my chest."James…" I croaked, the word a raspy whisper. My hand reached out, blindly grasping for something solid. My fingers brushed against the armrest of the chair, anchoring me momentarily."Eddie, mate! What's wrong?" James' voice was laced with alarm, his concern cutting through the fog clouding my mind."Head…" I managed, the word slurred. My grip on the armrest
Eddie’s POVAmelia had left a gaping hole in my heart."But will she ever come back?" Chloe persisted, her lower lip trembling slightly."I… I don't know, sweetheart," I admitted, the truth a bitter pill to swallow. A heavy sigh escaped Chloe's tiny lips. "Okay," she mumbled, staring out the window with a wistful expression. The silence stretched between us, thick with unspoken emotions.Reaching over, I squeezed her hand gently. "Look," I began, my voice softened with love. "No matter what happens with Amelia, you'll always be my little girl. And no matter what, I'll always be here for you. Always."Chloe looked at me, a flicker of reassurance sparking in her eyes. "Really?" she asked, her voice a hesitant whisper."Really," I confirmed, my voice firm with conviction. "You're the most important thing in the world to me, you know that?"She nodded slowly, a small smile gracing her lips. For a moment, the tension seemed to ease, a fragile connection established between us.Reaching t
