Alpha Kai's POV

I threw a big stone to break the door at the entrance of the shrine, I looked beside me and saw Teagan, he was so eager to go in. I became skeptical about him. He wasn't someone with a fighting spirit.

'How come he is now fearless in the face of battle? Does he have another motive? Is he trying to impress me?'

"You have to stay out here while I go into the shrine," I said simply without bothering that he wouldn't obey easily. I avoided looking at him to see his reaction. I knew he wouldn't agree straightaway but I didn't want to appear bothered about that.

"Stay outside while you go in? And what's my duty outside when you are in the shrine with the spirits on your neck?" His determination was stronger than I thought but I was still confused if he was only trying to impress me or if he had another motive.

"You are here to protect me from enemies that might want to backstab me. You are not here for the spirits. The battle with the spirits is best fought alone,"
