Eighty Three

Michael POV

I felt a surge of gratitude towards her. No one had ever stood by me like that before.

Together, we came up with a plan. We would gather evidence of Rebecca's wrongdoing and expose her to the pack.

It was a risk, but I knew it was the right thing to do. I couldn't let Rebecca hurt anyone else.

As we walked back to our cars, Emily turned to me. "Michael?"

"Yeah?"

"Thank you for standing up for me," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

I smiled, feeling a sense of pride. "I'll always stand up for you, Emily," I said.

And in that moment, I knew that I would do anything to protect her.

As we drove away from the bar, I couldn't shake off the feeling that we were being watched. I glanced in the rearview mirror, but saw nothing out of the ordinary.

Emily noticed my unease. "What's wrong?" she asked.

I hesitated, not wanting to alarm her. "Just a feeling," I said.

But she knew me too well. "Michael, tell me," she pressed.

I sighed. "I think Rebecca might be following us."
