14 - My Brother's Mate

Aurora’s Point Of View:

The afternoon sun cast gentle dapples over the clear lake as Eliza and I sat on the bench under a beautiful oak tree. The cool shade was a shelter from the oppressive heat. The lake shimmered with a tranquil beauty that made the world and my mind feel at ease. Eliza and I were silent, but that silence was comfortable, and I appreciated it. We didn’t need to talk. I just needed her to be here, and so she stayed. Like she always does.

I tossed bits of bread into the lake, watching with a quiet pleasure as the fish darted forward, their scales dazzling in the sunlight as they competed for the crumbs. There was something soothing about this simple act. A connection with nature that eased the constant turmoil felt in my soul.

I was lost in the slowly fading ripples of the water when a voice suddenly shattered the silence I was enjoying.
