Rude

The other guest was Harrison Louis, a government official, a VVIP guest too and from the discussions between others that I overheard, it turned out the guest were initially meant for team one, Maria's team. But they made a mistake during one of their services and the guest angrily requested for another team to serve him.

"I even heard Karima was not going to accept it." One of them chipped in.

"Of course, it's wrong for her to. It's more like handing over a leftover, but she had to take it just for the guest's sake." Another replied. As we headed to the man's room with three of my senior colleagues and Rowland, I remained quiet throughout.

We got to the floor where the man's suite was, only to see so many guards there, securing. I wrinkled my brows, was this really necessary?

They had us all scanned with a machine before we were allowed in.

I just watched calmly, to learn. I was the type that gained mastery just by observing, it was my wiring.

"The agents are here already, sir." One of the guys inside the suit said to his boss whom we could see sitting on a sofa from where we were standing.

He did not move for a few seconds and kept his face buried in the newspapers he held, sipping ice tea from a bottle. Who still read those?

All of a sudden, he threw an unnecessary fit. "What? I thought I told you to tell these reporters and publishers to stop using this particular picture? It looks tacky. I even took another photoshoot for this!" He yelled and the guy bowed his head immediately.

"I am sorry, sir. It will be corrected right away." He assured and he calmed down, then he narrowed his gaze down to where all five of us were standing, our senior colleagues in front and me and Rowland at the back.

"Tell those people to come over here." We heard him instruct that guy. We headed down to the open living room where he was and stood a few meters away from him.

"You at the middle front, step forward, and aside." He ordered and the senior colleague standing right before me moved away, exposing me directly.

"You, step forward." It took me a second there to contemplate on whether he was referring to me or not, but it turned out his eyes were on me.

Within further ado, I did as he instructed. His gaze was well fixated on me and that made me feel uncomfortable of course.

 "The name?" He inquired.

"Mira Silver, sir." I responded, wondering why he was asking for my name. I just hoped it was not what I was thinking. It would be really bad if he was a pervert.

"Hm... Mira, beautiful. The rest of you, leave, you stay Mira." He ordered and my eyes widened. I turned around swiftly to look at my seniors, there was no way they would leave me there with him right? But it looked like there was nothing they could do about it.

I could see the gawking look in Rowland's eyes but what could he do too? Nothing. They all bowed their heads again before walking out then I turned to Harrison Louis, waiting impatiently for him to make a funny request and see how I would smash his head into pieces.

"You look pretty, Mira, and you remind me of my daughter." He started and I just had to mutter under my breath, "I am not your daughter anyway."

 "What? You said something?"

"No sir, I did not." I replied and there was silence for a while. He relaxed his back against the sofa and crossed his legs, then he looked out of the open glass doors, staring at the ocean.

"Her name was Adelaide, but she's late now." He continued.

I was taken aback a bit, why was he telling me all that? He turned to face me again, "So, Mira, have your seat." He instructed. Reluctantly, I did sit opposite him.

"Tell me about yourself." He urged and my brain got shut out for a while. That was so random, why should I tell him about me? WHY? To think that this current person I was with was totally different from the one that just made a fuss a few minutes ago over some unnecessary picture in a published paper.

Immediately, some of the rules I had read in the lobby agent manual popped up in my mind and I got up.

I bowed my head, with my hand clasped together at the front. "I am sorry, Mr. Louis but I am not allowed to do that. I am here to strictly serve you to satisfaction and not chip in my personal stuff." I said with all politeness, that was the right thing to do.

"This is how you should serve me, young lady, have your seat." He ordered firmly, totally dismissing everything I said.

"No sir, I am afraid I can't do that." I turned him down firmly too. Two can play this game.

Then I heard him click his tongue, glancing at him I realized his countenance had changed. He looked angry. "Why do you wenches keep doing this? Adelaide that fool would not stop running her mouth too. Aw! That little bitch, that was why she died." He cursed, muttering loudly.

I furrowed my brows. He just cursed his daughter, the one he almost teared up about. What was this? It sounded like he did something to her, like he had caused her death.

Before I knew it, he sprang up to his feet and approached me. Boldly, I maintained my stand and did not retreat.

I felt a stinging sensation on my cheek as he hit me across the face. The force and pain made me tilt my face to a side on a impulse, and it took me everything not to retaliate.

It was stated in the manual, 'Never should you abuse a guest, no matter what.'

I wanted to strictly stick to the rules, now was not the time to cause trouble.

"I am sorry if I offended you, sir." I apologized gently.

"Of course, you should be sorry!" He grunted and hit me again. I swear, I was losing it already. The old, pot belly man was obviously enjoying assaulting me while I did nothing.

All of a sudden, we heard a ruckus outside. He turned to the direction of his man. "What's going on out there?"

"One of the lobby agents is trying to get in." He responded.

"Really? Let them in." He replied and turned to me, glaring annoyingly.

I saw Karima walk into the suite. She seemed distressed and must have come for me.

"Yes? What do you want?" Harrison started and she immediately bowed her head. "I am sorry, sir but I am here to get her. I brought some other people to tend to you, and if you want, I could do that myself." She replied.

I furrowed my brows, was she doing this for me? Why?

"What a bad service Greenville offers. I should not have listened to the minister and come here!"

"We are sorry, sir." Karima apologized again.

"I don't need your apology, get out. She stays, I need her here." He retorted, still adamant about me.

Karina raised her head slowly to look at him straight in the eye.

"But she really needs to go now, sir." She pointed out and he frowned deeply.

"Are you stupid? Did you not hear me?!" He yelled as he lunged forward and slapped her too.

I became furious and marched towards him. "You can't abuse her in that manner. Is this how vulgar politicians are?" I did not raise my voice but rather spoke calmly.

He turned to me, looking enraged. "What did you just say? You bitch!" He cursed and before anyone could say Jack, he grabbed an empty ice tea bottle and smashed it on my head.

"Mira!" Karima yelled, out of fear of course.

I could feel the thick, warm liquid flowing down my head, but I did not fall. I felt pain but it was not so agonizing, probably because the bottle was not a strong one.

"I am okay, Karima." I managed to say.

"You are crossing the line, Mr. Louis!" She yelled out of annoyance and some of his guys tried to interfere.

Again, we started hearing some noise from outside and then it stopped, there was no sound again and that had us all in motion.

The door beeped and opened, then someone in a pair of black pants and a black shirt walked in.

They looked so familiar and raising my head to see the face, I gasped for breath.
