Miss. Favorite

"He wants me to play again for him by 7 tonight." I said to Karima as we headed to the office. Midway, we met Maria, the female lead of the team one, the one that did not like Karima. Some way, I had found out about her name and some details from some of my teammates' discussion.

Again, she had that contemptuous look when she saw us coming and this time around, she stopped to speak.

"Here goes the so-called Iron woman, who gets everything done." Maria said in a mocking manner and a smirk appeared on Karima's face. She did not even spare Maria a glance and just walked past her, I did the same too, feeling funnily sorry for her.

What the heck was that non-verbal, punchy response Karima gave her?

The look on Maria's face was killing, like the other day I had met her. Jealousy and anger were written all  over her bodly.

She obviously hated the fact that most guests preferred Karima's services and by default, services from our team to Maria's team, even though they were the first team.

It was understandable, but her stupid, feminine actions would get her nowhere, coupled with the fact that Karima was not even giving her the attention she wanted. How pathetic!

"Good job, Mira. Your services might be needed even more frequently now. Mr. Reign has an obsession for classic music." She whispered the last part to me. I could tell even, from the way he tangibly savoured the piece I played.

...

As I sat quietly at my desk, minding my business and not relating with anyone at all, one of my teammates came around. I had not even taken time to get to know them more so I did not know his name.

"Hey, Miss fav." I heard him say and I swirled my chair around to look at him standing there, stretching out a bottle or yogurt to me.

"Fav? What's that?" I inquired curiously as I collected the yogurt drink from him.

"Favorite." He replies and removed the cap of his own yogurt drink and drank from it.

"Miss favourite? Why are you calling me that?" I raised my brows, yet to thank him for the drink even.

"That's what everyone here calls you, it's obvious the team leads give you special attention." He responded.

I crinkled my brows, that sounded funny and at the same time serious. Of course, I knew it but was it that obvious to the rest of them?

Taking my time to ponder on what he said and not give a rash reply, I uncapped the yogurt drink and said to him, "Thanks for the drink. Are you a newbie like me?"

He nodded, smiling slightly.

"Name?" I requested and he smiled. He had such a lovely smile, and he was handsome no doubt. He looked young too, probably around my age.

"Rowland." He replied.

"Nice name. I am Mira Silver, not Miss. favorite." I said to him, stretching my hand out for an handshake. I did not know why but I just felt like flowing with him. The fact that he took the step to approach me and just speak casually was beautiful to me.

The rest of 'em kept talking, ranting, murmuring in twos and threes about me but I did not care and just acted like I did not hear them at all. I wish I could not hear them even, but there was no way around it.

"Rowland." We suddenly heard a voice called. It was Leo.

Rowland's posture changed to a formal one. "Yes sir." He responded.

"Please report to my office now." Leo instructed and Rowland responded affirmatively. He turned to me and winked then he ran along.

I furrowed my brows, wondering what was wrong with him. I found it amusing and just laughed it off before turning back to my monitor. I felt so idle, waiting impatiently for evening to come so I could get a chance with Jordan Reign.

As I had these thoughts running through my mind, something just dropped in my mind at that point. I had a computer here, good Wi-Fi, so why was I not looking him up online?

"Oh, how stupid you are, Mira." I swore at myself as I started the computer.

I felt strangely enthusiastic as I typed in 'Jordan Reign' in the search space. And right there, so many articles, blogs, social media accounts, keywords popped up in my face.

"Okay! It's work time." I declared excitedly as I started with first and latest article I saw.

There were biographies, news stories, feature articles and numerous pictures of him online. Without realizing it, I spent too much time on each picture.

I was there, staring at his features, and his style. He never smiled in any of the pictures. Just frowns, cold face and it seemed like the public loved it that way. He was a natural influencer too.

It was when I started reading about the business articles of him that I found out he was a crazy business mogul.

Jordan Reign - 8th world richest.

I was super surprised. He was that wealthy?

I tried looking up his background and family but there was nothing about that, just one article that had no more than two likes, with question marks on Jordan Reign's family and background.

That was quite weird. For such a public figure like him, there should be at least one post talking about his family associates, but nothing was there!

I had spent over an hour, by just reading articles about him, I did not get weary until I was done then I shut down the computer.

Time to think.

I started pondering and even mediating on the things about him that I had just read. I kept his picture in my heart, just to think about him.

I felt so drawn...and it was going beyond just my curiosity about that incident.

"Mira." Someone called, jolting me out of my serious meditation. "Yes?"

"Karima sends for you." The lady said and I stood up immediately and headed to her office, looking forward to whatever was waiting for me, as long as it had to do with Jordan Reign.

"Yeah, you are here, Mira."

"Yes ma'am." I responded meekly, sucking in my lips.

"One of our guests needs our service, and I would like you to go with some of the other teammates, for the experience, to learn." She said and I nodded, feeling quite disappointed that it was not about our mysterious VVIP guest.
