I did not enjoy a bit of the night, I stayed awake half of the whole night anyways. Being disturbed by mosquitoes, cold and then the troubling memories and traumatic years with Adrien and his merciless family.
It would have been much better if I had gotten rejected the very first time, then running away from my father's pack would not have happened. Adrien as an alpha showed so much interest in me and stupid me fell in love with him, having not been loved by any man because I was an incomplete werewolf. I was human and not yet a wolf so no alpha could get married to me.
As soon as it was 6 AM, I got up from the floor and packed my stuff. It cost me a whole lot to ignore the stains in the bathroom and just have my bath. Heavens knew how much I wanted to get out of there so fast.
I tried switching the running water to hot then I realized the faucet was bad. What to do? I was already undressed and was ready to take my bath, going outside was a no no.
Despite the chilly weather that morning, coupled with the little cold I had caught, I had to bathe with cold water. In just a few minutes, I stepped out of the cold shower, shivering uncontrollably. I had not taken my bath with cold water in years so my system reacted to it big time.
I had to jolt myself back to my senses. "Now is not the time for this, Mira." I said aloud to myself. I needed to find a way to survive and at least, get out of this godforsaken motel first.
I dressed up in a casual and comfortable pants and a hoodie without applying my body lotion . I was not sure if I had taken them with me, even. There was no time for that.
I waited for a few minutes after dressing up to have my phone charged before leaving. Then when my phone had charged enough to sustain me for a good while, I strapped the big black bag over my shoulder and pulled the suitcase with me as I left the room.
"Would you like to stay for breakfast? We offer pancakes and eggs." The female receptionist I met there that morning offered it but I shook my head. I would rather die than stay there to eat.
After a few minutes, I was checked out and then I left. The moment I got outside, I let out a big sigh and inhaled fresh air. I felt stuffy in that motel all through the night. What to do next? I did not know. I had no one to call also, I had to cut everyone off when I was getting married to Adrien. I felt it inside me that it was not so advisable but I went ahead with it anyway, because I had loved him.
I set out to just walk down while I contemplated what to do next with my life. I no longer had money on me so getting a temporary accommodation was totally out of the picture.
Getting a job in Beatle City? That was the hardest. I guessed I would just wander around till I found my father's pack, or till anyone who probably still recognized me take me in.
I could not step out to the main roads and just maintained steady motion in the shady streets, I had this anti-social thing. It just grew on me over the time I was confined in Adrien's pack.
As I walked past some buildings, heading towards a small intersection amidst the streets, someone suddenly bumped into me. I was not expecting it so I lost my balance and fell to the ground, while the guy stumbled but still continued running away.
I looked at the direction he was coming from to see what could have probably caused him to run along like that without even apologizing when he had clearly hit someone. Then I saw two guys running after him, they ran past me too and then I realized there was one other guy behind them.
The guy slowed down his pace as he got to me. "Hello there, are you okay?" He asked smiling as he got closer. Subconsciously, I shifted my ass on the ground backwards to get away from him. Why was he getting closer and acting like we knew each other?
"Come on, you are on the ground. Can I help you up?" He pointed out, and then stretched out his hand.
It was then I realized I was still on the ground, since the fall. Hesitantly, I lifted my hand and he helped me up."I saw that idiot bump into you from afar. Sorry for that, he is a petty thief." The guy explained but I did not say anything in regards to that. I only picked up my bag and strapped it to my shoulder again. Not even a thank you for helping me up, I was bothered with other things.
"You look pretty by the way." The guy chipped in with so much energy, like he had been waiting to say that. I turned to look at him with a glare then he glanced at the bag and suitcase with me.
"Are you... traveling somewhere?""It's none of your business." I finally spoke, dismissing him as I attempted to walk away.
Then I felt a grip on my arm and halted my steps, turned around to look at him with annoyance boldly written on my face.He took his hand off mine immediately. "I am sorry." He said, even though there was no sign of remorse in him. "But then whenever you are back in Beatle City, make sure to contact me. I could have a job offer for you." He said, stretching a card forward.
"It's my complimentary card." He added. I just stared at him and then at the card, short of what to say. When he saw that I was not making any move to collect it, he dropped it right in the side pocket of the black bag strapped on my shoulder.
He winked at me, I found that disgusting of course, then he walked away, in the direction the so called thief and other guys went in.
The words he said to me were just stuck in my head. Business... business...business. It seemed like that was what really mattered to me then. I took the card out of the place where he had dropped it and read his details on it. It was not a business card but a complimentary one, his personal card. Travis Coles. That was his name. It was almost noon when I finally decided to rest, sitting on one of the street benches made of cement. There were some other younger and older folks sitting there but there was an empty bench so I decided to sit, not minding anyone's concerns.I dipped my hand into the black bag and brought out a packet of Irish potato chips Madison had put in the bag. Without minding the public attention, I started munching on it, still maintaining my composure in some way too. Damn...I was so hungry but preparing cereal right there would definitely not look so good. While I ate, I decided to put a call through to Travis Coles. I was not so expectant but in a little bit,
In about thirty minutes, after walking down the noisy and bustling streets, I arrived at Greenville Club. The clubhouse was actually a big and grand looking one. I had never gone to a club before so I was not familiar with their surroundings and ways.In my hoodie and pants, I walked up to the main entrance with my suitcase and bag. The security guards who mounted the entrance blocked me from going in. They looked at me from head to toe and shook their heads. Of course, my dressing was off."I am not here to club, I am here to see Travis Coles." I said to them but they remained stiff, head straight without paying attention to me.I felt like I was talking to the walls. I hissed angrily and brought out the complimentary card Travis had given me, then I showed it to them. They moved at that moment and then looked at me, then back at the card."How did you get this?" One of them asked. "He gave it to me, directly." I replied. They seemed to believe me and at the same time not, so they
I arched my brows. It was quite surprising, of course I knew what lobbying was because I was very well educated but I was not sure I knew what a 'lobby' person was supposed to be like.He must have noticed that I was in confusion so he took it upon himself to explain better. "Now, it's no easy task, to be very honest. You get to meet a lot of people, not just ordinary people now, Influential people, politicians, top country officials from different parts of the world, foreign investors, foreign ambassadors and if you are unlucky, you could get to meet with the Mafias." He explained."Meet them and do what exactly?" I furrowed my brows and he laughed softly. "It depends on the situation. In a case where our country and another would be having a peace treaty, you would be expected to take good care of the guests, and make sure nothing goes wrong till the mission is accomplished. That's an instance."I was not sure if this was what I signed up for, actually. Being a lobby agent? I had n
I had dinner with Travis that evening, stuffing my mouth like I had never eaten before in my entire life. I was really famished, like in a miserable way. Right after we were done eating, the lady he had called earlier, Karima, arrived to take me.She bowed at ninety degrees to Travis Coles. "I am sorry for being late sir, I could not get past the traffic." She apologized so politely and he just nodded."It's fine. This is Mira Silver." He introduced me to her. "She will be joining your team, as a lobby agent. She is an amateur, so you are to guide her through the three-day training." I could not help but frown when he called me an amateur, was that really necessary?I exchanged polite greetings with Karima without smiling. Working with humans was something I perceived to be as tough, being a werewolf even though as an omega who had not received her wolf.Sure, there were many werewolves who tended to cover their true identities and just live like humans. I had not tried staying amon
The moening soon came and I had to rush my bathing process because it was almost 6 AM and Karima would definitely be here at any time. I had not gone into the bathroom the previous night but entering it that morning to take my bath, I realized everything needed for a bath was available. There was a new toothbrush, sponge, face wash, mouth wash, body wash, towel and some other stuff. I stepped into the hot shower and washed away all my sufferings. I remembered bathing with freezing cold water the day before and I smirked, while under the hot shower.I don't know but it felt like a new beginning for me. I had anger stocked up in me but I would wait for the right time to unleash. I was not just angry at the Seventh heritage pack, but then I was furious at myself. The thought of wasting three good years of my life with someone that never adored or cherished me, going against my father's words and turning against his pack because I wanted to chase love.I thought Adrien had loved me for wh
"You are welcome to the team." Leo said to me as we stepped into the elegant elevator. "Thank you." I replied gently. "We are heading to the fortieth floor now, the training will be held there. But our main office is on the forty-two floor." He explained and I nodded, trying to be as polite as I could. We got to the fortieth floor and stepped out of the ride, then I saw some other people littering around. The ladies were in the same uniform as me and the guys too wore uniforms in the same colour shade. They all were in twos and it seemed like they were waiting for the training to start."Attention everyone!" I was surprised when Leo stepped forward to do that. We got their attention and then placed his hands against the other to his back, maintaining a stoic and professional stance. He acted quite differently from the person I had met earlier in the elevator."Good morning, ladies and gents. I am Leo, one of your instructors for today's training. The training starts in seven minutes,
Leo led me to Karima's office and left after he had a short talk with her. Her office was not something I had imagined; It was quite moderate but properly furnished and fit for her profession and rank. She had me sit and then started engaging me. "How was the training today?""It went quite well, Ms. Karima." I replied to her and she smiled. "Call me, Karima, everyone does. By the way, most people complained so much about the lengthy lecture hours so I expected that from you too."I clasped my hands together behind my back and sucked in my lips, not sure of how to reply to her. Then she smiled, as if she understood my plight. "It's alright by the way. I told Leo to bring you so you could have lunch here before you return to your apartment. I was wondering if you would not mind a brief tour in the resort too." A tour? A high ranking lobby agent like her was offering me a tour? I could not help but question her niceness within me, she definitely had other things to do, but she wanted
Training day two was soon here and like they said, it was not easy. It was more of a field training than a sit-listen lecture. We were firstly instructed to change into a fit gym wear instead of our uniforms, then we all hand weight scale. Most people were over the average and it took this new set of instructors nothing to make them lose proper weight within a few hours. Leo was one of them too and he had me specifically weighed by him. It turned out to be that I was about 3kg close to average. He raised his hand with his arms folded against his chest, looking confused."You don't eat beef? Chicken?" He raised his brows. For someone who spent over four months in prison, eating just vegetables, beans and water, how else could I have grown past the average weight?I only smiled gently at his question, I did not think I was meant to answer that. While others exercised under the hot sun, I remained sitting, drinking water from a Stanley cup. At some point, I was instructed to join th
