All I saw were huge hotels and obviously, it would cost a fortune to just spend a night there. Why were things like these in the outside world? Before now, you could easily see three local motels in a street but I barely saw any.
I kept on walking in further and then I glanced at the watch Adrien had gotten me for my birthday. It was already past 9 PM and I was still searching for a motel. I knew how unsafe it could be at this time of the day, since I had an experience of sneaking out of my father's pack last at night to parties.
I spent so recklessly and all my credit cards got restrained by my parents. And I became stranded.
REST INN. Was the inscription that boldly indicated a motel at the top of a one storey building. "Finally."I heave a sign of relief as I made my way into the motel. I was met with colored red lights at every angle which gave a shady vibe that didn't go well with my instincts. It was an indication that this place was a red flag but what can I do at this point? Remain on the street in the dead of the night and the heavy rain pour, or manage in this shady local motel?
Right there in the small choky reception, I could perceive the smell of cigarettes and heard some hysterical chuckles from different directions from the motel.
It was evident that the voices were from prostitutes and drunkards but who cares anyway?
I went to the receptionist who was a guy and made my intent known on my arrival.
"There are only two rooms available, one on the ground floor and another on the first floor, which do you prefer?." The guy asked politely and I sighed. "I will go for the one here on the ground floor." I finally said to him after thinking my answers through. It did not sit well with me to stay on the first floor because I could imagine a whole lot of things happening in the middle of the night. Like getting robbed or at worst, getting raped.
I paid to him in cash and he gave me the keys to the room I had requested. Carefully treading under the red and blue lights flashing here and there, as I located the room that had been allocated to me.
012. The big inscription came to view and I let out a short sigh of relief. I had seen enough in this passage already and just wanted to get into the room and rest my aching body. I swear, I was in a terrible mood coupled with bad pains.I locked the door right after me and turned on the lights which were thankfully not coloured lights, then I accessed the room. It wasn't a good or comfortable room to be in but it's atleast the best of the best at this point. Atleast I had a place to lay my head for the night.
Without pushing the suitcase and bag further, I walked right in and fell on the bed in a thud.
Damn! It was so hard and in no way succulent, it made my body ache even more despite getting on it for a short while.
Then I started feeling nauseated by an unknown smell. I sniffed the bed and then realized there was dried semen on the bed, with some other irritating smells.
The urge to throw up was strong on me but I kept it back and jumped off the bed immediately. I could not believe I paid to stay in an uncleaned room like this. I did not even have the willpower to go back to the receptionist to complain.
After succeeding in suppressing the nauseating feeling, I opened the bag Madison had given to me and brought out the water flask with warm water to drink. That would keep cold away for the meantime. She had some bottles of water put in the bag also. I did not know but I was just so grateful for her.
I sighed after thinking of my ordeal that day, then I took off my clothes and entered the bathroom to atleast get a bath.
I was the kind that was so sensitive to stains and dirt and everyone around me knew that. The toilet was not clean to my satisfaction so I was irritated by the sight of itI just sighed and walked out of there. I opened my suitcase and brought out a face towel, had it soaked with one of the bottled water and then used it to clean my whole body, then I dried myself with another one.
I folded a few clothes and then laid the blanket Madison had put in that black bag on the floor, the folded clothes then served as my pillow as I laid on it.
I closed to my eyes to sleep but I could not get any sleep. I just found myself crying, unable to get Adrien out of my head. Flashback to when he promised to stand by me forever, but where was he now?
Then I remembered the divorce papers he mentioned. I wiped my tears and sat up, brought the suitcase closer and removed the big, brown envelope that was in there. I unsealed it and brought out the paperwork in it.
They were indeed divorce documents. He just had me sidelined, got the papers ready with his signatures boldly fixed in where needed.
All of a sudden, I burst into laughter, pathetically. "Stupid fool." I thought aloud. After I had signed, he would be needing the documents back for finalization so what did he just do?I went through the documents word for word and when it got to the part where the reasons for divorce was inserted, I calmed myself down.
I closed my eyes for a bit to have my psychological mind prepared. I was going to read the reasons why my loving husband decided to be separated from me. I knew of the primary reason but then a reconfirmation on the papers would do.SHE'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME.
Just Wow! I started laughing hysterically, not wanting to believe what I had just read.
What happened to...'You complete me, Mira.' 'Leaving you would ruin me.' 'I am all out for you, wifey.' 'Having you with me, I could not ask for more.' What happened to those assertions? To those promises? To those reassurances?Adrien was just so unbelievable. I scoffed. "Not enough?" I raised my brows, feeling so pathetic in between tears and laughter.
I could not believe I had given my life to this fool! I went against my father because of him and his miserable family but this is what I get in return? Just beautiful. It was all my fault, anyways, for trusting such a man. It was my fucking fault for not been a complete wolf but I was glad they brought out their true colours, I was so happy.
I guess there was just one thing I would start chasing after from now on... REVENGE.
I did not enjoy a bit of the night, I stayed awake half of the whole night anyways. Being disturbed by mosquitoes, cold and then the troubling memories and traumatic years with Adrien and his merciless family. It would have been much better if I had gotten rejected the very first time, then running away from my father's pack would not have happened. Adrien as an alpha showed so much interest in me and stupid me fell in love with him, having not been loved by any man because I was an incomplete werewolf. I was human and not yet a wolf so no alpha could get married to me. As soon as it was 6 AM, I got up from the floor and packed my stuff. It cost me a whole lot to ignore the stains in the bathroom and just have my bath. Heavens knew how much I wanted to get out of there so fast. I tried switching the running water to hot then I realized the faucet was bad. What to do? I was already undressed and was ready to take my bath, going outside was a no no. Despite the chilly weather that
The words he said to me were just stuck in my head. Business... business...business. It seemed like that was what really mattered to me then. I took the card out of the place where he had dropped it and read his details on it. It was not a business card but a complimentary one, his personal card. Travis Coles. That was his name. It was almost noon when I finally decided to rest, sitting on one of the street benches made of cement. There were some other younger and older folks sitting there but there was an empty bench so I decided to sit, not minding anyone's concerns.I dipped my hand into the black bag and brought out a packet of Irish potato chips Madison had put in the bag. Without minding the public attention, I started munching on it, still maintaining my composure in some way too. Damn...I was so hungry but preparing cereal right there would definitely not look so good. While I ate, I decided to put a call through to Travis Coles. I was not so expectant but in a little bit,
In about thirty minutes, after walking down the noisy and bustling streets, I arrived at Greenville Club. The clubhouse was actually a big and grand looking one. I had never gone to a club before so I was not familiar with their surroundings and ways.In my hoodie and pants, I walked up to the main entrance with my suitcase and bag. The security guards who mounted the entrance blocked me from going in. They looked at me from head to toe and shook their heads. Of course, my dressing was off."I am not here to club, I am here to see Travis Coles." I said to them but they remained stiff, head straight without paying attention to me.I felt like I was talking to the walls. I hissed angrily and brought out the complimentary card Travis had given me, then I showed it to them. They moved at that moment and then looked at me, then back at the card."How did you get this?" One of them asked. "He gave it to me, directly." I replied. They seemed to believe me and at the same time not, so they
I arched my brows. It was quite surprising, of course I knew what lobbying was because I was very well educated but I was not sure I knew what a 'lobby' person was supposed to be like.He must have noticed that I was in confusion so he took it upon himself to explain better. "Now, it's no easy task, to be very honest. You get to meet a lot of people, not just ordinary people now, Influential people, politicians, top country officials from different parts of the world, foreign investors, foreign ambassadors and if you are unlucky, you could get to meet with the Mafias." He explained."Meet them and do what exactly?" I furrowed my brows and he laughed softly. "It depends on the situation. In a case where our country and another would be having a peace treaty, you would be expected to take good care of the guests, and make sure nothing goes wrong till the mission is accomplished. That's an instance."I was not sure if this was what I signed up for, actually. Being a lobby agent? I had n
I had dinner with Travis that evening, stuffing my mouth like I had never eaten before in my entire life. I was really famished, like in a miserable way. Right after we were done eating, the lady he had called earlier, Karima, arrived to take me.She bowed at ninety degrees to Travis Coles. "I am sorry for being late sir, I could not get past the traffic." She apologized so politely and he just nodded."It's fine. This is Mira Silver." He introduced me to her. "She will be joining your team, as a lobby agent. She is an amateur, so you are to guide her through the three-day training." I could not help but frown when he called me an amateur, was that really necessary?I exchanged polite greetings with Karima without smiling. Working with humans was something I perceived to be as tough, being a werewolf even though as an omega who had not received her wolf.Sure, there were many werewolves who tended to cover their true identities and just live like humans. I had not tried staying amon
The moening soon came and I had to rush my bathing process because it was almost 6 AM and Karima would definitely be here at any time. I had not gone into the bathroom the previous night but entering it that morning to take my bath, I realized everything needed for a bath was available. There was a new toothbrush, sponge, face wash, mouth wash, body wash, towel and some other stuff. I stepped into the hot shower and washed away all my sufferings. I remembered bathing with freezing cold water the day before and I smirked, while under the hot shower.I don't know but it felt like a new beginning for me. I had anger stocked up in me but I would wait for the right time to unleash. I was not just angry at the Seventh heritage pack, but then I was furious at myself. The thought of wasting three good years of my life with someone that never adored or cherished me, going against my father's words and turning against his pack because I wanted to chase love.I thought Adrien had loved me for wh
"You are welcome to the team." Leo said to me as we stepped into the elegant elevator. "Thank you." I replied gently. "We are heading to the fortieth floor now, the training will be held there. But our main office is on the forty-two floor." He explained and I nodded, trying to be as polite as I could. We got to the fortieth floor and stepped out of the ride, then I saw some other people littering around. The ladies were in the same uniform as me and the guys too wore uniforms in the same colour shade. They all were in twos and it seemed like they were waiting for the training to start."Attention everyone!" I was surprised when Leo stepped forward to do that. We got their attention and then placed his hands against the other to his back, maintaining a stoic and professional stance. He acted quite differently from the person I had met earlier in the elevator."Good morning, ladies and gents. I am Leo, one of your instructors for today's training. The training starts in seven minutes,
Leo led me to Karima's office and left after he had a short talk with her. Her office was not something I had imagined; It was quite moderate but properly furnished and fit for her profession and rank. She had me sit and then started engaging me. "How was the training today?""It went quite well, Ms. Karima." I replied to her and she smiled. "Call me, Karima, everyone does. By the way, most people complained so much about the lengthy lecture hours so I expected that from you too."I clasped my hands together behind my back and sucked in my lips, not sure of how to reply to her. Then she smiled, as if she understood my plight. "It's alright by the way. I told Leo to bring you so you could have lunch here before you return to your apartment. I was wondering if you would not mind a brief tour in the resort too." A tour? A high ranking lobby agent like her was offering me a tour? I could not help but question her niceness within me, she definitely had other things to do, but she wanted
