Drenched In Rain

I could not believe my eyes and ears. This was my own husband proposing to me divorce papers without remorse or emotions in his eyes, like I had never meant anything to him.

'Please, don't do this.' I felt the urge to say that but I could not. My pride muttered to me a lot and it overwhelmed me.

I just sneered and dragged the suitcase with me out of the house, with no destination in mind.

The moment I stepped out of the house, I was hit with the dark clouds in the sky. It was about to rain and I had no destination in mind.

All of a sudden, I heard someone call me. "My lady!" I turned around immediately to see Madison at the door. I started feeling some liquids drop on me and within the twinkle of an eye, rain started pouring down quite heavily.

Madison got into the rain and it was then I noticed the big bag she was carrying. "I packed the few things I could pack quickly, my lady. I will come with you." She said and I furrowed my brows, frowning at the same time.

It just did not make sense to me.

"Madison, what are you doing?" I questioned, making it so obvious that I was angry about her decision.

"I am going with you, My lady. I can't let you go alone this way, and I don't think I would ever grow the heart to serve someone else beside you." She replied and I scoffed.

"Don't do this, Madison!" I asserted firmly. Not like I was annoyed at her, of course I was touched but then the anger I had bottled up in me against Adrien was about to get loose and then vented on her.

"You take care of everything in Adrien's wing, you can't just decide to leave all of a sudden. You are a part of this pack and this is rebellion." I explained, trying to restrain myself from venting my anger on her when she did not even do anything wrong.

"I don't care about all that. For you, I swore an oath to die and go with you wherever you go." She countered. We were still standing together in the rain, getting drenched. She was a strong woman on the outside but she was quite aged to some extent and staying in the rain for so long could ruin her health.

"Stop with the nonsense and leave the rain, Maddie. I have been cast out here so the oath breaks by default. I don't have a destination in mind nor do I have any plans, so how would I take care of you? Stay back here and serve the Royal family diligently. If the heavens will have us meet again, so be it. If not, then that's it." I declared and even with her face being drenched, I could see tears in her eyes.

I swear mine were bloodshot too, I could feel it. She walked closer to me and put the big bag in my hand. "There is a flask of food I could pack, some snacks, cereals and milk. I put in a flask of warm water and umbrella for you also, I know very well the condition of your health. Please, take care of yourself and make sure you survive My lady, I promise to come look for you." She said to me and hugged me tightly before leaving.

I swear, I was bawling. I was close to crying blood. How could a woman be so loving? When I thought all was against me, there was still someone rooting for me after all.

I dragged my feet in the rain, walking many meters till I got to the gate of the Royal Pack House. I had been here for over three years and it seemed like my welcome was overstayed now.

The securities obviously had gotten an instruction from above so they opened the gates quickly and let me leave. I did not bring anything here and I barely left with nothing also.

After running away from home years ago just to be with this betrayer called Adrien, I did not seem it fit to return back to my father's pack.

Outside the Royal Pack House looked strange, the outside world generally looked strange. I had never stepped out of the pack alone, without Adrien's car and the guards. In fact, I did not go on personal outings.

The only times I went out of that pack house was when Adrien deemed it fit to take me along with him to special occasions that had to do with the pack.

If I were to be asked, I did not remember the way back to father's pack, even. And werewolf packs were not something you can find on an online map. I was so doom for sure.

After walking endlessly out of the Pack estate, I finally got out to the main roads. The rain was gradually stopping but I was all drenched and it was only a matter of time before I caught a cold.

My hair was wet and stuck to my body like glue. I felt so helpless and hopeless, watching numerous cars with most of their windows tinted, driving at unbelievable speeds. The traffic was just crazy and I did not even think there would be anyone interested in offering a hopeless looking person a ride. To where, even?

'I guess we will be sleeping on the streets for a while, Mina.' I thought to myself.

As the dark, night sky set in, I walked down into an unknown street carrying a suitcase and a bag full of snacks, just hoping to see a motel so I could have somewhere to lay for the night.

I did not have much money on me but I could afford a room for that night. I needed to settle a lot of things, my brain, my mind, my situation and what would possibly become of me.
