Nadia POV

"Why won't you believe me?!" I said in a frustrated tone, tears flowing down my face.

Lucian looked at me with fury in his eyes.

"Believe you? You think I'd believe a Luna who's accused of trying to poison my mate and kill our unborn child?" Lucian's voice dripped with anger, his gaze unwavering.

"I didn't do it, Lucian. I love you, and I would never harm Lyra or the baby," I pleaded, desperation evident in my voice.

Lyra, standing beside Lucian, wore a smug expression. "She's lying, Lucian. She's just trying to save herself. I saw her near my cup that night."

I shot Lyra a look of disbelief. "I was nowhere near your cup! You're lying to take everything from me, just like you always wanted."

Lucian, torn between his mate and his Luna, struggled to comprehend the situation. "Give me one reason why I shouldn't believe Lyra," he demanded.

"Because she's always envied me, Lucian. She's manipulating you," I retorted, my frustration turning into a simmering anger.

The pack members whispered among themselves, uncertainty clouding their expressions. In the midst of the chaos, my pleas hung in the air, desperately hoping to pierce through the wall of disbelief that surrounded me.

“Lucian please listen to me,” I yanked him by the arm at the front of the courtroom.

“Do not touch me with those disgusting hands!” He spat out, “We both know what you did Nadia, you tried to kill my heir. My child, how dare you” his voice began to rise, yet it felt cold and dark, his voice was different, it was like I was staring at a different Lucian, not the man I had come to fall in love with.

“I swear Lucian, I did not put anything in Lyra’s drink, I would never do that, you know me” I knelt on the floor holding my hands together. “Please Lucian, I beg you”

The onlookers of the court all watched with awe, some pointed fingers at me and called me a murderer even though I did nothing wrong, they all just want to believe my younger sister was innocent.

But she had never been innocent since the day she was born. Lyra had the charm of the last child, innocent face, sexy body and a mouth that can make everyone believe her in one instant.

And now she had use that against me during her baby shower and I was accused of poisoning her drink. Saying I was jealous of her.

I mean who wouldn't be jealous that their own mate was throwing a party for their younger sister because Lyra had his child and I had been married to him for years and no child.

Now here I was begging for my own innocence. Hoping he would consider that I his mate, and the mother to his child he would consider. Yes I was pregnant, two weeks but no one believes me. No one cares.

I crawled towards Lucian, and held his hand, “I am pregnant Lucian, with your child, can't you consi-”

“Shut up!” Lucian yelled and pushed me away from him and I stumbled, my belly barely missed the floor. “It's the nerve for you to look me in the eyes and lie to me, you fucking liar!”

My eyes widened in shock. I was completely taken aback by Alex's sudden outburst, I know he is mad but to act like this. I struggled up to get up to my feet but I couldn't and just laid there.

With tears in my eyes I said, “Would it really matter to you what happened to me or the child?”

The question seems to stop Lucian at his tracks, he turned around slowly and looked at me. I hoped I had touched somewhere in his heart but I was wrong.

Lucian turned to the guards beside the door and said, “Take her away to the dungeon, leave the fake lying pregnant bitch there until I know what to do with her”

****

Before it all happened…

In the cozy sitting room, I was engrossed in a book, the words on the pages momentarily transporting me to another world. The soft glow of the fire added a comforting ambiance as I lost myself in the story.

Suddenly, the tranquility shattered when Lyra swept into the room, her presence casting an unsettling shadow. "Lucian," she called out, her voice carrying an unusual weight.

I observed, hidden behind my book, as my mate, Lucian, leaped up from his chair, concern etched across his face. "Darling, what's wrong? Why do you look somber?" he inquired, rushing to meet her with an urgency that stirred a knot of unease within me.

Lyra, a master of deceit, feigned distress. "Lucian, I didn't want to worry you, but I've been feeling weak lately. Something's not right."

My heart pounded as I watched their exchange, an unsettling feeling settling over me. A flicker of doubt crossed Lucian's face, his worry deepening.

I watched as Lyra placed a hand against her mouth, feigning discomfort. "I feel like throwing up," she declared, her eyes meeting mine briefly.

Rolling my eyes at the best friend I had lost to the shadows of betrayal, I couldn't help but resent the performance she was putting on. The subtle smirk playing on her lips spoke volumes, a cruel satisfaction in her eyes.

"Really?" Lucian's concern deepened. "Could be food poisoning. Come, let me take you to the pack doctor."

With a scoff, I witnessed Lucian lifting her up, a gesture I never experienced from him. The audacity — the Alpha of the pack who ignored his own mate, everything now revolving around Lyra.

As they left the room, my frustration boiled beneath the surface. The pang of betrayal cut deep, and I vowed to uncover the truth behind this orchestrated drama.

The pages of the book I had been reading remained open, forgotten in the wake of the unfolding reality that threatened to rewrite the narrative of my life.

As Lyra and Lucian disappeared from the room, leaving me alone with the echoes of their departure, a fire  ignited within.

I couldn't stand idly by, allowing the puppeteer to manipulate the strings of our lives.

Closing the book with a decisive snap, I rose from my seat, leaving the cozy sitting room behind. The air outside felt charged with anticipation as I stepped into the moonlit night, the scent of pine and damp earth filling my senses.

My wolf stirred within though I was weak, it was a silent ally urging me to uncover the truth. The pack doctor's office became my destination, a place where secrets often sought refuge.

The pack's heartbeat resonated through the night, unaware of the storm brewing within its core.

Arriving at the doctor's office, I listened intently to the muffled conversation inside. "Congratulations alpha, your mistress is pregnant," the doctor advised, his voice a whisper carried by the wind.

I could do nothing but watch as my heart plummeted at the news of Lyra's pregnancy.

***

The pain was relentless, an unbearable ache that gripped me.

Tears streamed down my face, a silent cascade of sorrow.

Memories of the day I married Lucian resurfaced—the disapproving glances, the whispers that an omega like me should never be Luna . Should never be queen, I was unfit to take that position.

But Lucian insisted he married me and now here I was in a prison cell, my life taken away from me.

In the midst of my despair, Lyra entered with a cruel smirk, addressing me from inside the prison cell. "Hello, Bestie," she sneered, the words dripping with mockery.

I gazed at Lyra with a mix of disbelief and disdain. "What do you want?" I questioned, my voice strained yet defiant.

Lyra laughed, the sound echoing through the confines of the cell. "I came to check up on you, nothing else," she mocked, reveling in the pain she had orchestrated.

"Are you sure you came here to check up on me, or is this just another chance for you to gloat?" I questioned Lyra, my voice tinged with both bitterness and defiance.

Lyra laughed, the sound cutting through the air like a twisted melody. "True, because I already won," she jeered, her confidence evident in every cruel syllable.

Raising my head, I fixed Lyra with a steady gaze. "Are you sure?" I challenged. "You and I both know that baby is fake."
