Chapter 4

The days went by, Olivia never met Billy again at every meeting she attended. She felt very disappointed when she remembered what happened with her life. Her own best friend betrayed the kindness Olivia had given her.

An intercom rang, it must be the boss, she picked it up and yes it was the boss. Liam ushered her into his room and Olivia rushed inside.

"Is there anything I can help you with, sir?" Olivia said.

"Have you prepared everything for tomorrow?" Liam said.

"Yes I've booked two round trip plane tickets and I've also booked a hotel as you requested, all ready sir"

"Great, and did you know Billy would be on the event" Liam says.

"Ohh I don't know, sir"

"If he takes his mate there, will you meet her?"

"No, I'm going there for work so I won't bring my personal problems there" Olivia said.

Emma, who was watching her friend, was confused by what was going on. She saw Olivia's face always look gloomy after she came back from the meeting at that time.

They were having lunch together, Olivia sat across from her, she was just lost in thought until Emma brought her back to earth.

"What happened? Did he scold you? Or did he do something to you?" Emma said.

"Who is he?" Olivia said

"Our boss, you looked gloomy after coming back from the meeting back then, where did he take you? Did the meeting go badly?"

"No Emma, it's not a meeting, he just asked me to accompany him to hang out with his friends"

"Are you serious? Are you had a relationship with him? Why would he do that to you? I'm sure he's never done that to Mrs. May before"

"Aish, no, he's just my boss, I'm just his secretary"

"Then what's with your face? Tell me, maybe I can help you" Emma said.

"Lea has met her mate"

"Really? That's good news, then why are you so gloomy?"

"Do you remember when I said Mr. Billy has the same scent as Lea? He's her mate. I knew that from Mr. Sam and Mr. Liam during that meeting. And I just remembered why I felt like I knew Mr. Billy before meeting him because he is the man who always appears in my dreams, he is my mate, Emma"

"WHAT!" The surprised Emma couldn't hold back her voice, she immediately covered her own mouth with both hands when Olivia glared at her.

"I'm sorry, but is he an Alpha who has two mates at once? Or--"

"I don't know, but what if Lea did that on purpose to become his mate? I'm sure she was wearing my clothes when she met Billy"

"Olivia, but it could be that they love each other, this is not only a matter of the Moon Goddess but the choice of our hearts can also determine who our real mate is"

"I know, but why do I always dream about him? I know she also dreams of her mate when she sleeps but she never says it. Or she really never dreams about it that's why she's trying to find my Alpha"

"So that's why you looked weak before? It's because your mate rejected you and made another girl as his mate just because he thought it was you" Emma said

"I dunno" Olivia said.

"Then why do you look so healthy after becoming a secretary? Did you ever think that Mr. Liam was your mate? He's also single, right?" Emma said.

"No, that's impossible, he's an Alpha, if I'm his mate, he'd be crazy about me. We spend a lot of time together so it seems that's impossible"

"Didn't you say the room smells like vanilla?" Olivia just stared at her friend. She didn't say anything because yes Liam's room does smell of vanilla, very sweet.

She was also very comfortable in there, not even just in that room, if she thought about it, she did feel comfortable around Liam. But that's all she feels, and Liam doesn't show anything else, he just acts like a boss.

The next day

They have to go to New York for a meeting to discuss a big project there. Not only Liam, but many other CEOs who came to the meeting including Billy and Sam.

Liam and Olivia stay at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, it's the hotel Liam always chooses when he's in New York. It was Olivia's first experience, sitting in first class and now sleeping in one of the best hotels in New York. It was like a dream come true.

But it's not just them staying there, Sam and his personal assistant are also staying at the same hotel. Only they weren't on the same floor.

That day, when they arrived, they chose to rest first before having dinner. The meeting would take place tomorrow, so they had to maintain their stamina after the jetlag.

Olivia who was on her balcony could only smile while enjoying the New York air that afternoon, she was tired but she didn't want to spend her time for sleeping. She is happy. Even though her happiness was incomplete after she thought back on her mate.

Tomorrow, she will meet Billy, the man she knows is her mate. She really didn't think that all of this could happen. Her beautiful dream was shattered in an instant. Of course she's angry, she's disappointed, she's sorry for her being too kind to Lea all this time.

It was 7 pm, Olivia went to her boss's room, her boss asked her to come for dinner and they went together to a restaurant. Not only the two of them, of course Sam and his personal assistant, Ava, came with them. They sat together and looked like they were on a double date.

Olivia sat beside Liam and faced Ava. They ate dinner peacefully together and closed the meal with a bottle of wine to warm themselves up.

"Olivia, is this your first time here?" Sam said.

"Yeah, it's my first time"

"Is this going to be a good experience for you? because tomorrow you have to act professional in front of your mate" Sam said.

"Mate? what does that mean? You and your mate don't work at the same place?" Ava said.

"No, it's not what you think, he's my mate but he already has his own chosen mate" Olivia said.

"How come? He rejected you as his mate?"

"He doesn't even know I'm his mate" Olivia says and Liam just looks at her from the side.

"Maybe we can discuss something else, so that Olivia doesn't feel pressured, she should have fun while she's here, right Liam?" Sam said.

"Yeah, you're right" Liam says.

Olivia was happy to be among them, she felt warm, not because of the wine she drank but she also didn't know why it felt so warm and comfortable. Seeing their laughter was enough to make Olivia feel relieved. Maybe there is another happiness that she can get apart from her mate.

Maybe there is happiness in this world that comes not from their own desires but from something more than that, Olivia was lucky to meet these people at the right time, when her best friend and mate destroyed her life, she instead met Emma, Liam, Sam and Ava slowly healing the wound. Even though she had to feel the wound, because she had to repay what Lea and Billy had done to her.
